First S&B post.....

I have 3 big events, for me anyway, and hardly any spare cash so hoping to find an outfit that will do all three. No cross over in people attending so thats not a worry but one is an 18th birthday party, in a nightclub!!
Second is a family wedding reception (married abroad) and third an all day summer wedding.

I'm 5"1, size 12 and 37 (not looking good is itGrin).
Think a dress will be my best bet but don't 'do' knees but do like wearing heels when I have the chance.

So just wondering about these dresses (I know some look short but figuring I'm at least 7 inches shorter so should reach knee?)

the only one i like is the mary porter purple one, its really pretty, and could be dressed up. Don't think the first one is special enough to be worn at a wedding. Second one is quite nice again but still dont think its special enough to be worn at a wedding, but i'd probably wear it casual anyway. Really dont like the second warehouse one and also thought that if your only 5"1 will it not be really unsuitably long on you?

Aworryingtrend · 24/01/2012 16:22

Agree with Rootie Tootie, the Mary Portas is the nicest and most appropriate for a wedding out of the 4 (though you'd need to to accessorize it well). However IMHO you could get something more 'weddingy' for less money. If you don't have the budget for another dress for the 18th party ina nightclub could you wear something else eg black skinny jeans and nice top and blazer? I think if you try to get one dress for all 3 occasions you risk getting one that doesn't quite fit with either event, IYSWIM.

Ok, I've not chosen well Smile
The only dresses I own are my wedding dress and a black cocktail (?) dress so not really my thing usually.
I like the Mary Portas one the most but not sure I have the skills to dress it for all three occasions. And only six left in stock so need to decide soon!!
I do own very dark blue skinnies but have never managed to find a nice top to cover the mummy tummy I've aquired.
Do however own every colour of shoe you can think of Grin

Pointing in the right direction would be much appreciated

I really like the mary portas one. It would look good in a nightclub with some black ankle boots. You could get some open toes summer heels with matching clutch for weddings. Chunky jewellery for nightclub. Fascinator for wedding?

MissyNatalie · 24/01/2012 21:13

I also really like the Mary Portas one, the other 3 seem a little too..informal. As mentioned by rootietootie, just acessorise it to suit the occasion :)
Heels and chunky jewellry for nightclub, less high-heels for wedding reception and some nice kitten heels for wedding with matching clutch and delicate jewellry.
For the nightclub you could try some patterned tights or a chunky belt round middle?
Depending on what the dress looks like in real-life of course as i've only seen the links provided!

MerryHippo · 24/01/2012 21:37

The purple one is the dressiest an the most versatile. Y
