Beauty Bible books - Fairley / Stacey - do you rate them?

In my quest to sort out my skincare and makeup, I have bought several of the Beauty Bible books by Josephine Fairley and Sarah Stacey.
I have completely given up reading any advice or reviews in womens magazines, because I just don't believe the hype and can't afford most of the products that are being plugged. It's all about the advertising sales at the end of the day...
I love the Beauty Bible books and they seem, on the surface, to be a sensible alternative, but... I'm very suspicious that there seem to be just a handful of brands that they both keep banging on about (Liz Earle mostly!). Are they just doing the same thing, in a slightly more palatable format? Or are they GENUINELY testing across the market?

yes and no - they do promote natural beauty products, but not those without parabens and sometimes silicones, so if this doesnt bother you then get it. I would get a used copy via amazon. If you dont have any other books like this its quite useful as it also has health/diet tips.

I've done testing for the Beauty Bible and can vouch for the thoroughness of the process - each product goes out to ten different women to get a mean score, and there are a lot of forms to fill in! Some brands keep popping up because they're just very good, like Liz Earle. I used her range before I did any testing, and there really isn't anything in there that I wouldn't whole-heartedly recommend anyway. A lot of stuff doesn't make it in - of the last batch of products I tested, only about four or five made the cut for the book because, I assume, the other testers gave the same low-ish scores to the rest.

To my knowledge and i stand to be corrected Sarah Stacey has some involvement in Victoria Health. Having said that i always check out Sarah's and Jo's recommendations.
