can I wear ivory to a wedding?

Can I wear an ivory lace dress, chic, flattering, discreet, and perfect in every way - except possibly (probably) colour - to a spring wedding? I am part of the family inner circle, not a random guest. LOVE the bride and would never do anything to spoil things for her, so there's no question of "up-stagy-ness".

It sounds like you are the mother of the bride or groom. If so, don't do it - possible fodder for future resentment there.

Is it ok to wear a black lace cocktail dress to an evening reception? Its black lace all over with a nude colored lining fabric so it doesnt look dark, funeral like or office like.

So its ok? It wont offend anyone ? No point in asking the bride as she is charming and will just say of course its fine. But i dont want to upset soem elderly relative.....

I had never heard of not wearing green...

I think those black-lace-nude-underneath dresses look v pretty and not funereal, especially if you dress it up with some bright accessories. Lovely.

I don't think a smart black outfit at a wedding is really a no-no these days - e.g. lots of smart maternity dresses are black for obvious reasons of flattering bumps. This is an issue for me as I need to find a maternity dress to wear to 2 weddings in March and haven't even started looking yet!

Grin A spot of googling has revealed green to be bad luck. Unless you're Irish in which case it's OK.

Apparently - married in green = ashamed to be seen, the rational being that you've been rolling in the hills, hence grassy green stains.

Well, obviously.
