Help a boot (and nice shoes) virgin?

I bought some lovely slim fit jeans (Levi's) today. And a French Connection dress.
However.....
I can't wear either of them as I have no footwear that isn't horrid, ancient or trainers. This needs to change.

What do I wear with the jeans? Boots? Any recommendations under £100?

How the actual fuck do I wear a dress? Tights? Leggings? Boots? Shoes? I can't do much of a heel, maybe one and a half inch maximum.

I sound so pathetic, but I literally haven't bought any new clothes or shoes for several long years.

I'll see if I can find a link to the dress.

I also don't generally wear heels.

With my slim/skinny jeans I wear a pair of tan flat lace-up ankle boots from Clarks, or I also have some just-below the knee black, flat Camper boots, or I pair of ancient knee high block-heeled black boots.

Have a look at Clarks - they have some great stuff (or they did in Autumn). I also have a pair of suede, low-heeled wedge shoe-boots.

In better weather I wear pretendy Converse trainers (real Converse too slim for me)

Sorry - with dresses I normally wear the knee high boots.

This is the dress. I bought it because it has such a flattering shape when on, it really makes the most of my figure.
