Any Lands End shoppers?

I had a look at their website the other day and saw a couple of nice dresses (am always on the hunt for the perfect dress). What really put me off buying from them though was the postage and packing and the fact you have to pay to return aswell. I could potentially be spending 8 quid just for trying on some clothes.

What are people's opinions of Lands End clothes, sizing etc etc? Worth a try or not?

Don't know about their adult clothes, but have been happy with quality of things ordered for dd.

P&P is often on a free deal if you spend over £30 though - sign up for the emails

Clothing on the big size for adults. I'm a 12/14 and a 12 is a good fit usually. Mind you I've only brought jackets and a jumper dress from there for myself.

dreamingofsun · 22/01/2012 17:26

quality excellent, fit baggy. i'm 14 and the 14/16 tops were very generous - think i could have got away with 10/12

Just got a load of stuff for DD in the sale, great quality, quite generous sizing, but hard to tell as DD is 8 but wears age 10/11 clothing.

Yes to generous sizing. And yes, crap that you have to pay for returns. I order when there's an offer....sign up for emails and they'll bombard you!

As soon as you've decided to buy and suck up the postage costs then they'll send you a discount voucher for your next purchase!!! Annoying prob only about 15% off but anything better than nothing.
Free postage sometimes emailed to me for an odd weekend here and there.

Sizing generous.

Their sizing is American. So a Land's End 8 is a 10 and so on. This from the lady on the phone at Land's End.
Lawd only knows what pretension drives them not to change it for their UK catalogues and website, it's ridiculous.

mirpuppet · 22/01/2012 21:11

Even if you convert the sizes from US sizes they are still very generous. The US site has more reviews of the clothing than the UK site; but only some of the items are the same.

I ordered and paid for returns and yes it put me off of ordering again. (I got free postage on that order.)
