Can anyone recommend some smart, comfortable flats?

An currently 12 weeks pregnant (dc2), and am thinking that as the weeks go by, I won't want to be wearing heels at work. So I've been looking around for some smart, black flats (probably ballet style), but have had no luck. One of my problems is that my big toe joint on one foot is rather large (bunion, but toe not bent over iyswim), and I find that a lot of ballet flats are cut too low to be comfortable. I'd also prefer something with a bit of cushioning underfoot. Don't mind paying a bit more if they'll be worth the investment.

Kirstie Allsopp recommended Bloch ballet flats as they're cushioned and have a bit of a block heel. Would imagine she'd know as she must do a fair bit of walking on LLL.

Thanks, they sound good. I know Bloch well, as used to be a ballet dancer, but hadn't thought to look there for 'real' shoes!

Geox. Great shoes - I spent 9 months while pregnant in a pair.

Land's End. Several styles of ballet flats, sorted my pg work shoe problems both times.

Really Joan, I thought they only did men's shoes?! Will have a look for those.

Thanks, will check out Geox & Lands End too, more places I hadn't thought to look.

I used to do 10 hour shifts in a shop and wore hush puppies or (shh!!) M&S footglove

ThePetiteMummy · 21/01/2012 20:53

Oh I'm not proud Brighthair, I'd wear a footglove if necessary, just as long as it wasn't a tasteful bronze, metallic 'mum' sandal!

Hush puppies are very comfortable and they make woman's shoes!

Thanks, I wasn't suggesting you were wearing men's shoes! Just had a look at their website, and the reviews are good.
