pre teen boy question

JoantheFennel · 20/01/2012 17:38

Would a preteen boy wear this or should I just get my daughter one of the girl patterns without worrying about its hand me down potential to her brother?

I can't imagine a preteen boy wearing it.

brass · 20/01/2012 18:06

I can! It's red not pink!

Not mine!! he is 11

dexter73 · 20/01/2012 18:10

I know it's not pink but it is what a toddler would wear!

brass · 20/01/2012 18:14

ahh I'm sorry I didn't look at the garment I just looked at the colour. It's a bath robe thingy. No in that case and I'm surprised your DD would want to wear it as it is something you only see infants in at the beach.

Fo0ffyShmo0ffer · 20/01/2012 18:16

Mine's 9 and he wouldn't.

SixtyFootDoll · 20/01/2012 18:21

Mine are 9 and 11 can't see either of them agreeing top wear that in a million years.

BloooCowWonders · 20/01/2012 18:31

Def not my 9 yr old. But then neither would his 11 yr old sister.
Sorry.

Gillybobs · 20/01/2012 18:36

I cant see a boy or girl over age 6 wearing it. Sorry

vixsatis · 20/01/2012 18:38

My ten year old son wouldn't be seen dead in this

ChippyMinton · 20/01/2012 18:38

DS(10) had shorts in a similar pattern last summer but he definately wouldn't wear that - what is it?

NormanTheForeman · 20/01/2012 18:41

My ds is 11, and would definitely wear this (he currently has a navy and cream striped version of it) but then he is DEFINITELY NOT A TYPICAL 11 YEAR OLD! Wink Very much his own person, doesn't care what anyone else is wearing etc........

brass · 20/01/2012 19:20

my DS would have no problem with the colour and stars though - it's just the actual garment.

dexter73 · 20/01/2012 19:22

I agree brass - it would be like putting a 12 year old boy in dungarees.

BettySuarez · 20/01/2012 19:24

Have just shown this to my 12 ye old DS. his response is unrepeatable I'm afraid Grin

BellaVita · 20/01/2012 19:30

Err NO. Just NO!

mysteryfairy · 20/01/2012 19:43

Both my DSs still occasionally wear old Boden towelling hoodies like this on the beach (at least they did last summer when they were 15 and 14). They both have dark coloured stripey ones. Presumably they are exceptions as I see Boden have stopped making it in age 13/14. Before they gave up swimming they also used to stick them on if there was a long gap between races at swimming galas, again into early teens. They'd never have agreed to that star pattern though!

The rest of the time one is a black skinny jeans and band t-shirts type and one a worshipper of hollister, abercrombie etc so they are quite fashion conscious in their own ways.

DD is 9 and I'm pretty sure she'd baulk at the girls dress here except possibly the stripey one so I'd get the hoodie instead and if you're lucky both might use it.

LordOfTheFlies · 20/01/2012 21:23

Well, I got out the 12 yo old boy I made earlier, and asked him if he'd wear it.

"No. It's horrible"

Well, that's a negitive.

My DD loves these robes and has a really jazzy John Lewis striped one.

Sanesometimes1 · 20/01/2012 23:32

Depends I suppose where you live and which circles you move in ! if a pre-teen wore this down my street he would be teased !

JoantheFennel · 21/01/2012 08:57

It's a beach cover up/dress. My daughter gas always had one of these for going on cold British beaches. Keeps the wind off, easy to still go paddling. She doesn't wear it down the street, and where we live, on the North sea coast, lots of kids have them on the beach! Maybe a regional thing? Boden do them for both sexes up to 13, and they always seem to sell out < slightly defensive>

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 21/01/2012 08:59

My DD 8 would wear it at beach/after swimming but not DS 12.

OddBoots · 21/01/2012 09:10

My 12 y/o ds would wear almost anything because he doesn't really care but he would think I'd gone a bit loopy if I presented it to him to wear (which I didn't intend to rhyme). What do you see pre-teen/teen boys wearing on the beach where you are? I would have thought wetsuits of some kind but I am as far from the sea as you can get in England.
