Boden Gillet

I am liking the look of the boden gillet, but can't really get when you would wear it. For example if is cold or raining surely you would need sleeves? Please tell me if you have one when is a good time for a gillet. I have worn the body warmer type but was thinking of the one which is like a coat with a hood. And also being dry clean only is a bad point?

I looked at people wearing gilets and I thought well all these people can't be wrong - why haven't I got one? So, at new year I bought one. And I wear it all the time. I work at home so I wear it during the day - no sleeves to tangle with the keyboard. I wear it to the gym. And when it was 13 degrees in Cornwall I wore it on the beach. I find that it's good for if it is cold-ish, but not cold. Apparently, if your core is warm, you will be warm.

I live in mine, not got a boden one but a joules one,it's so toasty and I just put a light jumper under mine and am always warm, just add gloves/hat if your extremities are cold.

For me it's a must as I don't like to feel too restricted with a coat on.

I live in mine too (its North Face one so no hood) - I wear it indoors in the winter when the heating is off, when nipping out, walking the dogs when its dry but not too cold etc. I wear it with skirts/trousers/cardies/hoodies.

like the others say, they are good outside when its not really cold and i also where mine when i work at home over a jumper so don't always have to put the heating on.

I wouldn't buy one thats dry clean only. But then we are really dirty in this house.

I too wondered what the point of a gilet is...till I got one for Christmas; now I practically live in it! I have the Joules one and I wear it in the office (very cold Victorian building) with fingerless gloves from Joules so I can work away at the keyboard or mouse without feeling massive.

Outdoors, I wear it over a jumper and it keeps me warm without feeling like Michelin Man. If it's raining, I wear it without the jumper and chuck a raincoat on top.

PS I like my gilet so much I went out and got some for both daughters as well in the sale. Though I do sometimes feel embarrassed when we're out with all three of us in our Joules gilets (not matching, I hasten to add). We I must look like such marketing-influenced mugs Grin

I bought DH a Boden one for his birthday last year and he loves it. Think the Boden ones are particularly good as they aren't overly padded, making the wearer look like they ate all the pies!

Thanks everyone. I do really like the look of the Boden snugly gilet BUT am really put off by the dry clean only. It looks like it is made of the same material as the jacket they have which is machine washable so can't understand it really. I will have to have a look at the joules ones. Thanks.
