Hi mums netters I am just looking for a different makeup primer. I currently use Lancôme la base but fancied a change. Can anyone give me any recommendations??

benefit the professional is meant to be good and the smash box one is too.

I use Beauty Flash balm, by Clarins, which is fantastic, it also doubles as a face masque and leave skin feeling silky soft!

I use MAC prep and prime which I find lovely to use

Yes, Mac Prep and Prime is great, esp the spf 50 version
Clarins Beauty Flash Balm is even better though! It doesn't do for me what it's meant to do re tightening skin etc, but it's an amazing primer.

Been hearing many good things about the No7 one - going to get some myself soon.

Raffiiscool · 18/01/2012 11:15

I've got the Barbara Daly Tesco cheap and chearful one - okay but it has sparkle in it which I didn't realise when I bought it and don't like.

I heard Lisa Eldridge did the No7 one ( I like her!) and so I'm going to try that one next too.

I tried the no7 one I didn't like it at all it made my skin feel really tight and uncomfortable and my makeup looked patchy I would not recommend!! ConfusedConfused

I use mac prep and prime but have a friend that swears by the smash box one

humblehippo · 18/01/2012 15:18

I like the MAC prep + prime SPF 50. It keeps my make up on perfectly for hours and is not at all greasy so I would definitely recommend it to those with oilier skins (like me). Watch out with some Mac ones - they have weird sparkly bits in! The SPF 50 doesn't.

I tried No 7 and I thought I liked it but I now seem to have had a reaction to it and have broken out in bumps :(

£14.00 for the Maybelline one - silicone smooth and not greasy at all. It's my first primer and I have never tried any others so have nothing to compare it with, but I do like it.

Laura Mercier very good, as is Nude, cheaper too, though it's Australian, and may not be sold in the UK.

Sali Hughes did a good demo in the Guardian late last year where she said to pat, not smooth it on, and yes, it does seem to work better.
