Is this too bridesmaid-y for a wedding guest?

I am size 18 and live in black, but that is no good for a wedding, so navy is my compromise.

It has detachable straps, which i will be wearing. Will also be wearing a shrug at ALL times.

long is good for me, so is empire line.

wedding is all day into evening.

I don't want to look like a wannabee bridesmaid - is it ok, or a bit OTT?

thanks all for suggestions. Even those where the linked dress isn't quite what I'm looking for have given me ideas, and I'm looking through the on line stores you've linked to to see what I can find.

LOVING that Monsoon Alara dress - long but definitely not bridesmaidy. And such a bargain, I am tempted myself!

Isabella Oliver

I like the shape of the monsoon alara, but not the braid/trim.

spotted this. www.freemans.com/Together-Maxi-Dress/productdisplay.stm?An=681&A=34R055%5F10&N=426+4294965462+681+699+706&Au=P%5FMasterItem&Nu=P%5FMasterItem&Ns=P%5FColour%7C0%7C%7CP%5FSize%7C0

what do you reckon? shoulder coverage OK so could go with a pashmina maybe instead of a shrug. A nice necklace and shoes...

I think it's much more suitable then the coast one.

And yes, definitely wear shoes Wink

I like that one a lot AmazeGosh. The natural waist shape is always flattering and the fuller skirt is very good. It is quite elegant and not bridesmaidy.

RedHotPokers · 14/01/2012 19:51

Really like the freemans one, AmazeGosh. Go for it!

Thumbwitch · 15/01/2012 07:17

That Freemans one is lovely, Amaze. Much less risky (in terms of bridesmaidy or not) and a lovely colour too :)

tethersend · 15/01/2012 15:06

Saw this and thought of you Smile

OP, have you tried on any knee length dresses? I think they're more flattering than long dresses. Why not at least order a couple and see what you think?
