Is this too bridesmaid-y for a wedding guest?

I am size 18 and live in black, but that is no good for a wedding, so navy is my compromise.

It has detachable straps, which i will be wearing. Will also be wearing a shrug at ALL times.

long is good for me, so is empire line.

wedding is all day into evening.

I don't want to look like a wannabee bridesmaid - is it ok, or a bit OTT?

Not bridesmaidy with the right accessories. Bright jewellery, shoes, bag.

NewChoos · 14/01/2012 13:00

The ruching was v v good for disguising tummy, could you indulge me and try on?

NewChoos · 14/01/2012 13:02

How about this?

yellowraincoat · 14/01/2012 13:03

Ooh I like that one NewChoos.

BlastOff · 14/01/2012 13:04

I agree ruching is brilliant for tummies. Try it or something similar and be amazed! Seriously, I didn't believe it until I tried to either.

I really think a wrap dress would be good. Let me see what I can find...

yellowraincoat · 14/01/2012 13:05

Or this one also from monsoon bloody good price as well!

tethersend · 14/01/2012 13:07

Purple

Black

Fregley · 14/01/2012 13:10

i liek oast nikita best

WHY so many sans bloody sleeves though

tethersend · 14/01/2012 13:11

Mango if you must have empire line Wink

AmazeGosh · 14/01/2012 13:11

choos, I looked at the monsoon one but it's satiny, which puts me back in bridesmade territory. I DO like the kyla, that is on the klist, thanks.

yellow, I like the syle of that dress, but i think I do want length, thanks.

AmazeGosh · 14/01/2012 13:14

i love the style of the mango one, nut not the print.

will look up coast nikita.

can't waer black, tethers, and purple one looks a bit clingy on the tum, thanks, though.

Black again but good price

tethersend · 14/01/2012 13:15

Ooops, sorry!

AmazeGosh · 14/01/2012 13:17

LIKE the Romy dress a lot, tethers, but only goes up to 16. Sad

OP posts:
tethersend · 14/01/2012 13:19

Blue

tethersend · 14/01/2012 13:20

Hmm. It's stretchy, I'd risk a 16.

Will look for alternatives though.

tethersend · 14/01/2012 13:26

If you can stretch the budget, this from Jaeger is gorgeous and their sizing is enormous.

RedHotPokers · 14/01/2012 13:27

Have you tried Monsoon? I am a size 16, and went to a wedding 3 months after having DS, and I had massive tummy bleurgh issues Grin.

I wore a dress like this , and it seemed to rather miraculously skim over my bad bits!

I'm sure the dress you linked to would be fine, but I think a 3/4 or knee length dress would be preferable IMO.

Thumbwitch · 14/01/2012 13:27

www.monsoon.co.uk/scarlett-lurex-maxi-dress/invt/95307202/&bklist=icat,5,shop,women,dresses,wommaxidress what about this one? Halter neck though, might not work. I know it's pale background but the pattern detracts.

Apparently Coast think this is suitable for a wedding guest...?

tethersend · 14/01/2012 13:29

If you change your mind on length, this is fab and hugely flattering.

Thumbwitch · 14/01/2012 13:30

AmazeGosh · 14/01/2012 13:31

jaeger a bit too spendy!

i spotted the monsoon bluebell dress, i've got it on my list of possibles, but really prefer long.
