I am size 18 and live in black, but that is no good for a wedding, so navy is my compromise.

It has detachable straps, which i will be wearing. Will also be wearing a shrug at ALL times.

long is good for me, so is empire line.

wedding is all day into evening.

Not bridesmaidy with the right accessories. Bright jewellery, shoes, bag.

The ruching was v v good for disguising tummy, could you indulge me and try on?

I agree ruching is brilliant for tummies. Try it or something similar and be amazed! Seriously, I didn't believe it until I tried to either.

If you can stretch the budget, this from Jaeger is gorgeous and their sizing is enormous.

Have you tried Monsoon? I am a size 16, and went to a wedding 3 months after having DS, and I had massive tummy bleurgh issues .

I wore a dress like this , and it seemed to rather miraculously skim over my bad bits!

I'm sure the dress you linked to would be fine, but I think a 3/4 or knee length dress would be preferable IMO.
