Hello!

Thinking of treating ourselves to a nice dinner set but stuck between

Linen

www.denby.co.uk/dinnerware-sets/linen-16-piece-dinner-set/invt/016041950/

and Imperial blue

Thanks! :)

I had the Imperial blue set for my wedding 10 years ago and most of it is still going strong! It's REALLY good, hardwearing stuff and we aren't careful with it at all.

EldonAve · 12/01/2012 12:56

I have the linen and then a few mugs in blue

Overall I still prefer the linen

spottymoo · 12/01/2012 14:21

Dont know were you live but the Denny factory shop has great offers on all the ranges we've picked sets up with no deformities at all.

Bought 8 mugs last week for £16 Smile

RightUpMyRue · 12/01/2012 14:23

This one because it's 70% off.

vjg13 · 12/01/2012 15:20

We've got the Imperial blue too and would agree about how hardwearing and tough it is. I managed to destroy loads of spode spotty bakeware in about 18 months just by daily use and have found this set fantastic by comparison.

The side plates are very small though.

clippityclop · 12/01/2012 16:03

We have Linen, all half price a year ago, as our everyday tableware. I like it because it's sort of a neutral colour, goes with whatever else is on the table but not as boring as plain white. And it bounces well!

pictish · 12/01/2012 16:06

Neither because Denby is for old ladies.

valiumredhead · 12/01/2012 16:38

How rude!

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 12/01/2012 16:46

Blue, not keen on the linen tbh.

We have Regency green, got it for our wedding just over 10 years ago, it's all still going strong.

Gillybobs · 12/01/2012 16:53

Ive had the Blue for 15 years and although it isnt our day to day set, it does get good use and is in fantastic condition. If Im completely honest though I dont think I would pick it NOW though, I think it is a little dated

valiumredhead · 12/01/2012 17:03

Dated? !Grin

CMOTDibbler · 12/01/2012 18:48

I've been using my Imperial blue daily for 15 years, and love it. We've bought lots of extra bits in the outlet shops - I particularly like the pasta bowls and the noodle bowls

PaintedToenails · 12/01/2012 20:34

Neither. Denby is clunky, overly-chunky and heavy. Oh and wildly over-priced.
Sorry. Just my opinion Smile If I had to choose, I'd go with Linen.

doglover · 12/01/2012 20:36

Imperial Blue is incredibly resilient - needs to be in our house!!

DressDownFriday · 12/01/2012 20:41

I have the Linen and think it looks lovely. Bought it from a factory outlet.

I do have to agree that the coloured ones do look a little dated.

Rocketthedoordog · 12/01/2012 20:45

I've got the linen. Love it and lasts amazingly. I swear it bounces...

My mum has the blue. Nice, but I think mine is nicer...!

bebemad · 12/01/2012 20:49

Thank you! Going for the linen, love it and it should date well :)

I have the blue but it has been around for awhile so could be discontinued at any time, I think you are right to go with the linen.
Have had ours for so long I sometimes wish it would break so I could have a change!

theseventhdwarf · 14/01/2012 13:00

i have the linen and it s great goes with every table setting - we have a few different types/ brands of serving platters and bowls etc and the linen has always matched in nicely.
I think their white china looking set is lovely too and the pearl.
