DIY french manicure

I love a french manicure but just don't have the time or money to do and get it done regularly. Any hints or tips on a DIY job that doesn't look like I have got out the tippex??

Many thanks

You can buy those kits with the nail tip things, although I find it easier to snip the brush on the white polish to an angle and then sweep it across the top and then correct any mess with cotton buds and nail varnish remover.

Taking your time and allowing plenty drying time helps

  1. buy the rimmel white tip and rimmel pink french manicure (cheap and do the job)
  2. Clean you nails, remove cuticles, file etc.
  3. Draw a thin white line (you can use cotton bud with nail polish remover on to shape this or buy stickers which you paint over if you find the line hard to do.
  4. then paint over with 2 coats of the pale pink and a coat of top gloss.
  5. TOP TIP - leave each coat to dry thoroughly before applying the next!

(so you need a good 40mins to do it - which doesn't help with your time issue!)

Enjoy

Thanks you. I am probably too impatient - So the rimmel white tip - is that the one with the very thin brush?

I had to neb in on this one! Im a beauty therapist who never has time or inclination to do my own nails after 12 hour shifts! I also love french and recently discovered dashing diva french nail wraps. Take literally 10 mins and I find they last longer than french polish. I got mines on ebay. Good few similar products out there too which I would imagine will.be just as good!

Essence (cheap makeup brand) do a cool pen that does White tips. Much easier than using White polish.

mumsinmarketing wrote exactly what I would have wrote. Except I do use the stickers and I have three layers of the pink before my top coat. Mine tend to last a week.

Also, even experienced at it, it still tends to take me an hour while watching some telly. I then also try not to do too much with my hands after so usually do it at night. For the first hour or two after application the nails tend to be slightly movable, so you have to try not to dent it or leave a finger print it it before they set completely solid.
