Vintage-style 'skirted' swimming costume?

Does anyone know where I can get one of those swimming costumes that have a kind of skirt type thing attached?? It's not a proper long skirt or anything, just covers up a bit more of your saddlebags Grin

I also need lots of support in the chest department. I have had a look at the Bravissimo stuff but they don't have the style I want.

I am going on my first ever 'sun-based' holiday and this is the first time I've ever had to actually think about what I'd look like beachside/poolside

No probs, just saying that if what you are worried about is people seeing your upper thighs - they aren't looking and don't care!

I hope one day I can believe that, T Grin

I used to go swimming in the mornings and do 33 lengths (I'm fat but fit) but stopped when I arrived once at the same time as a group of schoolkids who went silent then started giggling as I walked past. Gits!

Remember that LandsEnd sizing is US, and is on the generous side as well.

if you click on sale and then bins end on the Lands End website it brings up some swim skirts for a tenner :)

I used to be a size 28-30 and wore normal swimsuits or tankinis on beach holidays. If anyone was truly horrified at my appearance, they hid it well. I have tried on swimskirt things and always found them much more unflattering than normal swimwear.

I'm down to a size 20 now although weight loss efforts somewhat thwarted by getting pregnant. I'm going on a beach holiday next week so will once again be exposing my lard (with added bump) to the world with no shame. Mind you, I'll be surrounded by Americans so may well appear svelte in comparison to some.

Go with what you feel comfortable in and forget about other people...I guarantee they will be too busy worrying about their own insecurities to give you a second thought. Enjoy your holiday!

What about surf shorts over a plain swimsuit?

Or a sarong?

I have one of the Land's End ones - it is very heavy and thick though. But I bought it as I am going to India and want to wear something as conservative as possible.
