Anyone had their colours done?

It is my 40th birthday next year and I will also be starting a business and thought I would get my colours done for my birthday.

I did the basic colour test on the website and it analysed me as "spring". I don't agree. Bright colours look pretty naff on me and make me look washed out. I tend to gravitate towards autumn colours, moss green looks good and I used to wear a lot of brown when I was younger. I also quite like blue (not navy) as it brings out the colour of my eyes. White and pillar box red do nothing for me.

Were you pleased with the results or did it turn out to be a costly mistake?

Someone very good at this told me I was a 'natural ingenue'. Looked it up and thought fab, that sounds great.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 02/12/2011 23:39

Think you join Kate Moss in that category, Marsha.

Haziedoll · 02/12/2011 23:43

Where can I look up this fashion ingenue stuff?

Brief (and confusing) description [[Ingénue & Classic Ingénue

For a fresh, pretty version of this look focus on delicate structured pieces, neat feminine styles, petite polka dot prints, ?70s retro designs and elegant oriental touches. Combine puff sleeve jackets, frill trim blouses and sweet camisole tops with curvy pencil skirts, crisp gathered skirts and slim line trousers, adding delicate frill trims, fine pin-tucks, picot edges, floral appliqués and dinky polka dot prints. Create an oriental feel with delicate ?Chinese? jackets, draped tunic tops, cropped pants and exquisite cheongsam dresses, that feature mandarin collars, delicate pipings, ornate frogging fastenings and silky tassels, along with dainty oriental embroideries, small scale Chinoiserie prints and crisp cherry blossom designs. Look out for feminine ?70s retro styles, dainty smock tops, slinky halter neck tops/dresses, floaty long line skirts and ruffled sundresses, with fitted waist panels, fine draping, ruching, gathers, twists, ruffles and frills, along with dainty sprig prints and delicate floral designs. Keep fabrics smooth, lightweight and pretty, with sateen weaves, crisp cottons, silky crêpe de chines, drapy viscoses, silk jersey and frothy chiffons. Complete your look with delicate jewellery and pretty small-scale accessories with a touch of sparkle, including oriental floral corsages, dainty obi belts, structured clutch bags and dainty strappy sandals. here]] on the types. Most people are a combination of two - one for their character and one for their physical characteristics (goes the crackpot theory).

Sorry meant this.

MarshaBrady · 02/12/2011 23:51

Blimey Whatswrong k moss! I'm unsure of colours, probably spring or summer (blonde, fair etc)

Haziedoll · 02/12/2011 23:58

Thank you WWWY. According to that description I am somewhere between a romantic and an ingenous. Feel far mire comfortable with the classic description but I'm too much of a shortarse :(

You could still be a Classic, but mixed with the other element. So your physical characteristics could make you Romantic (Dolly Parton - in the best possible way!), but your personality is more Classic (which I think she is also - she always seems to wear fitted, neatly cut clothing, and gives lots of attention to grooming, plus shows off her waist).

WhatsWrongWithYou · 03/12/2011 00:24

Actually, I think La Moss might be an Ingenue Gamine!

MarshaBrady · 03/12/2011 08:12

Ah yes. Bit different.

MosEisley · 03/12/2011 23:24

Thanks for the link WWWY, very interesting. Contemplating asking for vouchers for the style course for Christmas. Think I might be classic / classic + one of the others, but I suppose that is what I need to find out.

See you by the Autumn / Classic clothes on the rails, OP!
