Fashion Show was great last night - some lovely things to see. Funny how some things look so different on a model than on the hanger. Very taken with a silk dress with a grey print, would be great for my 40th party but at 200 euros Im thinking about it....

Got my Great Plains dress back - better but still a bit voluminous up top. May still wear to MU tho! Great print for your MU dress Pickled - I like the coloured tights look, mustard would be very Mary Portas-like.

Lazy weekend planned. DH wants to stay home today and go to the market, potter in the garden etc. His family are descending tomorrow afternoon to celebrate his birthday and we are going out in the evening to some fancy restaurant where Janice will put in an appearance.

PORTIA4 · 01/10/2011 08:35

Morning all,
Carciofi I had Mr Sealy, ( I am of a more senior vintage than you!)his wife taught in the Junior school, but I did go to Mr O Tiarnaigh for grinds!
DD2 home safe, and thankfully loving France so far, has been to Paris for the last 2 weekends with her new friends, long may it lastSmile
I've just realised this time next week I'll be in London, yippee!

carciofi · 01/10/2011 09:16

Wan, I missed wine too when I was pregnant. Enjoy your free time. Do you want the camisoles? I have another Fara bag so they are about to be put into that!

Ollie, grit your teeth!

Glad your DD is getting on well, Portia. Mrs Sealy taught me.

petitdonkey · 01/10/2011 09:48

Still having problems with the Crumpet website and no answer when I call but this is the one I like. They are my great colours - if you think of all the Winter colours but much more muted then that seems to be me. She thinks that I will get away with many of the Winter jewel colours for evening wear and even grudgingly admitted that black is not bad on me - yay!! It was all a little disappointing as when she did my friend it was so obvious what looked amazing on her but less so on me. She couldn't even decide if I was warm or cool for ages which is why i think i will need to change my hair colour.

Portia - so happy that your DD is happy, weekends in Paris sound rather glamorous!!

Red - your day exploring sounds perfect.

Ollie - hope the in-laws behave!

carciofi · 01/10/2011 11:04

Lovely scarf. That's odd that the code won't work, I just tried it and it works for me.

blossoming · 01/10/2011 15:52

Hi everyone. Still hot and bothered. Sweat, flies and wasps. I cannot deal with this in October.
I am also sweeping leaves and taking grass up to the top of the garden after DH has mown. So am hiding taking DD to the potty.

Thanks for thinking about me LTEC. Such gorgeous colours. Fancy the indigo and the fuchsia, obviously. I saw a link somewhere of some skinny jeans, a similar top and gorgeous stone coloured suede platforms. I am intending to copy!

There is a teacher's strike on Wednesday and schools are closed. It is also my birthday. Should I take the dcs to Chester? They really need new shoes you know! these might do!

Hope things aren't too bad chez your ILs notyummy.

Really sorry to hear of all of you with absent DHs. It must be incredibly difficult for you. I am sending you virtual strength and happiness.

So excited about next week. Should be nicely giggly by this time then!

Off out tonight for an early birthday meal. Opaques are out, but I haven't been maintaining my tan and it's a bit late to crack open the J&J now! But on the other hand, it will be dark by 7.30, so who will care! Thinking of the Bec. Forlornly neglected in the cupboard.

OP posts:
carciofi · 01/10/2011 15:58

Bloss, the perfect shoes for kids! Yep, go to Chester. Wear the Bec tonight and slap a bit of baby oil on your legs. Have a good night.

DH has taken DD1 out and said this morning that I should get a babysitter one afternoon a week again, which would be great.

notyummy · 01/10/2011 16:29

Hi all. Visit to MIL going ok, mainly due to weather allowing us to be al fresco all day and not cooped up annoying each other. Just back from a long lovely walk around Ludlow in the sunshine. Hope you have a good night tonight Bloss.

redllamayellowllama · 01/10/2011 18:03

Am on train into London looking at everything with rose-tinteds, wondering why we left! Was lovely to see DS with all his old gang running around at the party, but am convincing myself that all of this is best done in little bits, sampling the lovely stuff without the everyday nonsense, iykwim. Off to the Southbank for drinks at the RFH now - my favourite bit of London.

Glad weekend is going well NY - i love Ludlow, esp. the antiques market.

Can't bear this weather either Bloss! Hope you have fun tonight.

Good news on the babysitter front Carciofi. Those afternoons will be treasured, am sure.

Very much looking forward to next week!

blossoming · 01/10/2011 18:22

Had almost forgotten how much I bloody love the Bec! Could be the first time for me to wear it bare legged though. Dh decided on the lkb platforms. Plain and black but stop me from looking too twee! Put some j&j on earlier. I think it's helped!!
Dd just said no Charlie & Lola, I turn over to see Srictly has started. When did that happen?
Have fun red. We had a fab time on the south bank in July as you know.

Yay! Got the scarf! Thank you very much Carciofi for saving me nearly £50.

Bloss - Strictly only started on Friday night, no eliminations this weekend. Love the LKs, I will be following your style even more closely than before as I am now nearly a Winter!! I know what you mean about the weather - The sunshine is lovely but I want to be in boots and new scarves!!

Deep - who are you doing the clothing personality thing with? The lady who did my colours then offered a style day but Im not sure I entirely trust her judgement after she found it so hard to diagnose my colour!!

It's so funny on this thread that so many of us seem to move in the same places - there have been loads of mentions recently of places I know well. I still get a pang whenever Bloss mentions Chester as that was my Uni city, NY - I grew up in Shropshire and love Ludlow, Red - our London flat is right behind RFH, and who mentioned Chapter One restaurant? I'm going there next week!!

I really shouldn't be on MN as I have a birthday party for DD this morning - 36 children....

OllieinOrange · 02/10/2011 07:28

Morning!

Woke up thinking about MU outfit - not good. Am tempted to order a last minute dress from ASOS - whats their sizing like? A 12 would normally by fine but the dress I like is quite fitted over the hips so not sure to go for a 14. Do their dresses come up small? (Can you sense rising panic in my voice?)

DeepLeaf really interested to hear how your day goes. Would love to something similar.
Bloss Hope you had a lovely meal out - with DH and Bec!
Icey how is the unpacking going?
Red your weekend sounds lovely, as does yours NY
WAN Did you pick up anything whilst out and about?

Inlaws are all over this afternoon - we are having a picnic in a nice park. Time to make some cupcakes and scones - they kind of expect it from me now! DS1 has drawn treasure maps so DH can find his bday presents all over the house - very cute - just hope we can make sense of them tho or the mulberry cufflinks may never be seen again!

IceCreamCastles · 02/10/2011 08:03

Morning

ollie I also woke up thinking of meet up outfit. I think I've sorted it in my mind now but can't try on as components not unpacked yet!
Tricky with asos sizing. I usually order at least 2 sizes as their returns are so easy- not sure if that's the case outside the uk.

Move went really well. Removals company were fantastic and actually made it enjoyable for us rather than the stress that I was expecting.
Unpacking has gone ok so far and we're all happy with the house.
Views are amazing- dd woke up yesterday, looked our of the window at miles of fields etc and said 'I can see my new garden'. Ideas above her station methinks.

You all sound as if you've had lovely weekends with lovely outfits.
Today we've booked into a meet and greet with Peppa and George pig at a shppping centre- height of sophistication Grin. dd beside herself with excitement but I've a horrible feeling she'll hate it as she's never been keen on those big costume things.

Hope you all have great Sunday's.

ApuskiDusky · 02/10/2011 08:04

Morning all!

Hope you're all enjoying the weather - I'm struggling a little with appropriate outfits as I didn't bring down proper summer clothes when we moved, so am getting a little overheated! Had a really nice day around the village yesterday taking advantage of the nice weather - met a few families who were all friendly, then went to our neighbours for drinks. Some friends are visiting today for a BBQ! In October!

Deep have fun today, tell us all about it when you get back.

Ollie, morning!

Carciofi, forgot to say, I am v pleased with my CdC skinnies - they're a kind of dirty navy colour which I like better than indigo, and the shading seems to work well on me.

Got to go, boys need feeding!

IceCreamCastles · 02/10/2011 08:06

Agh- where did that apostrophe come from? Sorry!

blossoming · 02/10/2011 08:58

Morning all. Late night, early morning (Wales v Fiji). Too much alcohol and rich food. Bleurgh..
But cloudy and cool! Yeah!!

pickledsiblings · 02/10/2011 10:58

Morning All Smile

Ollie and Icey good luck with sorting out your outfits. I'm sure the GP Finchley Park will look stunning on you Ollie, it's such a great print. I hope DD enjoys Peppa Pig Icey and I'm glad the move went so well for you.

Apuski, great that your new area is working out - how lovely indeed to be having a BBQ in Oct, have fun. Looking forward to seeing you again at the w/e.

Red, can't wait to meet you on Saturday. I too love finishing off a nice day in London at the SB.

Big wave to everyone else - have lovely Sundays, maybe the sun will shine for you today PORTIA.

blossoming · 02/10/2011 11:10

I think it's Saturday verity. I'll be listening on the radio on my drive to station!
At rugby. DS has scored his first try against real opposition.

OP posts:
redllamayellowllama · 02/10/2011 13:26

Feeling a little hideous after the excesses of last night. Had a wonderful evening at the rooftop garden bar at the SB as the sun set - magical. On to Camden which never fails to make me feel vital.

Apuski sounds like a lovely weekend, hope the neighbours were friendly and so on. I like the sound of your new jeans.

Icey sounds like a lovely weekend in your new house, so pleased that the move went well and that DD approves of the new surrounds.

Pickled me you too!

Petit your new scarf is delicious.

Am also in the throes of MU outfit panic. Big try on tonight, i think.

notyummy · 02/10/2011 15:57

Am doing some interiors shopping at Burford House, which has lovely quirky stuff. Bought a tea pot (have never owned one Blush and some really unusual paper napkins for a Christmas party i am planning. Was in an equally great shop called The Silver Pear in Ludlow yesterday. Have eaten too much this weekend but did manage a long hilly run as the sun rose over this morning. Views over Ludlow Castle and river Teme as the sun and mist combined were amazing.

You must be happy with Wales score Bloss.

Glad the moving hasn't proved too stressful ice-cream.

Looking forward to getting back and watching both Strictly's back to back tonight [saddo emoticon].

Have just booked tickets for the three of us to go and see the Railway Children at Waterloo stn during the Christmas holidays . Anyone been? Seems to have had great reviews. (Do I get into trouble for mentioning the C word?!) So far we have a Ball, a 'dressy' party, a daytime lunch followed by drinks in the pub and a party for 12 adults and 8 children round at our house. Will need lots of outfit planning!! (And possibly some cooking and organising of babysitters as well...)

Oh, DH not sure about my new emerald green jumper from Top Shop. He likes the colour but thinks it looks too 'old school.' I will be wearing anyway....
