This is the bag I can't afford...

I love this bag and have wanted one like it for ages.

I can't afford it though, so are there any high street bags that are similar in style that I might love too?

I need it to have a long strap that can go over my shoulder and I need to love it!

Upahill I should have said, I'm not middle aged, I'm 30!

All the more reason to avoid it then potty!!

PottyRefusnik · 03/09/2011 13:19

Nah, I can pull off funky, honest Grin

I'm a bit worried about the size now though after Evil saying it might not be all that big.

Its a dilemma people!

It's not funky though.
If Timmy Mallett had a handbag it would either be a Boden or Cath K one.

thisisyesterday · 03/09/2011 13:22

the ck one isn't big. check the measurements... must be on there somewhere. you can see if the boden one is bigger then?

noddyholder · 03/09/2011 13:23

Primark have those for about 6 quid!

PottyRefusnik · 03/09/2011 13:30

I think Timmy Mallet would have a Mr Tumble bag.

What do you think I should buy then Upahill?

Don't know if you are ever in London but there is a stall outside Holborn station that does good copies. I quite fancy a browse but am always rushing to catch a train Smile

ChippingIn · 03/09/2011 22:25

Bloody Hell - that's a definite MrTumble bag!!

Did you see the post by Noddy who said Primark have them for about £6. Worth a look surely!?

tethersend · 03/09/2011 22:39

For another £30 you could get this

PottyRefusnik · 03/09/2011 22:54

Sadly, I'm no where near London but I might be able to get to a Primark, worth a look. Its a shame that their website doesn't have the products on to have a look.

Tethersend That is indeed lovely, I feel you may have missed the point however...

Oh those satchels are gorgeous! WANT!!

PercyPigPie · 04/09/2011 18:31

I'd buy the Boden one and cut back on wellies/coat. Maybe get a Boden coat on Ebay 2nd hand and cheaper wellies?

PottyRefusnik · 04/09/2011 19:16

I've bought a coat today after seeing one I loved which was well priced, I wasn't even looking for one. I'm going to look into boots/wellies and then see how much money I have spent before buying the bag.

I love it but I don't want to regret buying the wrong one.

I went to see the original CK bag today to judge the size, I think it would be ok. Later I'm going to compare the size of that to the Boden one and then I'll have some idea if it will be big enough. I couldn't go smaller than the CK one I think.

Having spent time in shops today, first time in a while really, i couldn't believe how expensive things are. Even plain t-shirts are £££!

Off out for a run now, wish me luck!

OMG OMG OMG OMG! THOSE SATCHELS! I love them

BUT do you think they are always going to end up with the straps hanging open? OOOOOh, I WANT one

ChippingIn · 04/09/2011 19:45

Giganticus - I would Grin Far too much of a faff to keep undoing & doing them up. Ok for an occasional bag, but not for me for everyday/nappy bag. But each to their own madness Grin

jeee · 04/09/2011 19:48

Monsoon/Accessorize have very similar bags - I'd guess they're about half the price of the CK ones

MissRead · 04/09/2011 19:50

OP do you live anywhere near either the Outlet Shop at Bicester Village or the Factory Shop at St Neots? Both often have the bags quite a bit cheaper, sometimes with tiny defects, sometimes just last season's pattern or whatever. I got a messenger bag for £20 which retails for £40 and there's absolutely nothing wrong with it (well apart from that its CK if you don't like CK!)

PottyRefusnik · 04/09/2011 20:45

No where near there, I'm in Yorkshire, so a bit too far!

I've had a look on Accessorize and these are the closest I could find but none of them float my boat:

Quite flimsy fabric when I saw it in-store
Don't like the suedette
Not loving the tapestry
Ok, but no cheaper than the Boden

Once I've found boots/wellies and I know how much I've spent I might just have to get the Boden. Is Upahill right though? Will I be Timmy Mallet?
