This is the bag I can't afford...

I love this bag and have wanted one like it for ages.

I can't afford it though, so are there any high street bags that are similar in style that I might love too?

I need it to have a long strap that can go over my shoulder and I need to love it!

Don't hang your head in shame. We've all been there Smile. I would say that the waterproof factor is pretty important as you will not have your hands free to tuck the bag into the "umbrella zone" (or an umbrella at all for that matter). Waterproof and large might not leave you with too many other options then, I'm afraid. It's a necessity; no point in buying a bag that will get destroyed by rain Wink.

Shit, shit, shit. Shall I buy it? Its very nice, it'd suit me I think. I'm a jeans, t-shirt and converse pumps person. I think it'd go with me. Probably suit me better than the CK one I wanted. Shit. Its really nice.

Is £45 about £38 when reduced by 15%? Thats about right isn't it? Its a bargain isn't it?

What type of coat would go with it though?

The woman in the picture looks like she likes the bag (though possibly slightly constipated, probably not the bags fault though).

Arrggghh. Shall I buy it?

yeah it's quite big, i know someone who uses it as a change bag...

buy it! go onnnnnn

thisisyesterday · 02/09/2011 23:06

p.s, don't like the slouchy one as much. narrow at the top and wide at the bottom is not a good combination, you can never find stuff....

thisisyesterday · 02/09/2011 23:07

any plain coat would go with it i reckon!

PottyRefusnik · 02/09/2011 23:08

I'm going to check my bank account..... back in 5 mins

i like the peony one

thisisyesterday · 02/09/2011 23:11

but that'll end up more expensive than the spotty one... and you might not be able to return it so easily?

PottyRefusnik · 02/09/2011 23:17

Well, I've checked my balance and its not too bad, not too great. Maybe I should sleep on it and not impulse buy?

Love that rainyday mac, is it warm?

OP posts:
magicmelons · 02/09/2011 23:17

Buy the one from boden so you can send it back, buy it but do not buy that boden rain mac for the love of god Grin

thisisyesterday · 02/09/2011 23:19

PottyRefusnik · 02/09/2011 23:20

What's with all the 'quirky' bags.
They look more suited to a children's tv presenter.
Honestly all these Boden and Cath K bags look like a middle aged mum trying to be 'funky' and 'individual' but only end up looking slightly crazed.

PottyRefusnik · 02/09/2011 23:36

Like this coat

But off to bed before I buy anything and will reconsider tomorrow. Thanks for all your help. I think I'll buy that Boden bag. I think so...

Up I've never been one for boring bags I'm afraid!

i always look slightly crazed. a "funky" bag is the least of my problems

upahill · 02/09/2011 23:41

I don't like boring either surely there is a middle ground between bland and bonkers.

upahill · 02/09/2011 23:42

[grin]@this is yesterday!!

thisisyesterday · 02/09/2011 23:44

right now i am wearing a giant adult babygro from Primark. it's pink and fleecey and the feet have cow faces on and it says I'm MOOOOOTIFUL on it

ds1 made me buy it. honest

afishcalledmummy · 02/09/2011 23:48

Buy it with the 15% off code - the price will ramp up on ebay!

It looks lovely in the blue, and I'm sure all your crap will fit in it Smile

EvilTwins · 03/09/2011 00:05

OP, I know you've moved away from the orignal CK bag, but just to add my twopenn'orth... I have that bag, and it doesn't fit as much as I thought it would in it. Looking at your list of essentials, you'd be hard pushed to fit it all in that CK bag comfortably. I have 2 5 yr olds, so we no longer need nappies. I can fit phone, keys, purse, brolly in the outside pocket, spare knickers x2 (not for me), a pack of wipes (as long as it's not a full one) and maybe a couple of flat picture books or colouring books and some felt pens or crayons. Because it's made of oilcloth, there's no flexibility in it, so you can't shove things in the way you can with a cloth bag. I also have one like this - not that design as it's about 3 years old, which I use for going out and about in the summer (or when it's not going to rain) and it's way better as you can shove loads in it. Obviously no good for you now, as you want a waterproof one, but I really do think that the saddlebag style, if it's in an unflexible fabric, is no good if you still need to be carting around baby stuff.
