What shoes and wrap/ cardi to wear with this dress?

Hi,
Have just bought this dress for a wedding I am going to on Friday in Budapest.
I have no clue what colour shoes to wear with it. Also, i have horrid fat arms so want a cardi or wrap to wear with it too.
I was thinking silver, but am clueless. Please help. I would prefer flat or flatish shoes as am fairly tall 5ft9 and not used to heels.
Thanks

I agree with whoever said a bright colour like yellow. Go and get a salon fake bake in light it will not look bad and then get a dark grey pashmina thing. Its a lovely dress. I think silver shoes could look wrong. I do like them and have a pair but you need to be careful they don't look a bit strictly.

Ifancyashandy · 29/08/2011 16:20

Like I said, I really like the dress BUT there is a danger it could be slightly mumsy if you put it with the wrong shoes. Really would avoid peep toe / silver / strappy and go for a colour that will 'pop' like these

noddyholder · 29/08/2011 16:24

those reiss dresses are shockers!

YouCantTeuchThis · 29/08/2011 16:26

hmm...it can do.

YouCantTeuchThis · 29/08/2011 16:33

purple shoes??

YouCantTeuchThis · 29/08/2011 16:36

SHINY shoes!!

I got bright pink shoes with a kind of thick heel in-store for only 18 british pounds but they didn't have them online then, and they still ain't now. I wouldn't usually go for a thick heel but it was an outdoor wedding and they looked better than I had thought, plus I didn't teeter!

TracyK · 29/08/2011 16:44

Nice shoes - but not a bit too high/hot?

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 29/08/2011 16:48

Purple shoes with a purple dress v dangerous, IMO. They will almost match but not quite, which is even worse than being actually properly matchy-matchy. Perhaps a pair in a much lighter shade of the same tone of purple as the dress, but that's going to be hard to find.

Lainey1981 · 29/08/2011 20:14

Ooh went out and now lots more replies. Am coming round to the idea of yellow or bright pink shoes, can anyone link me to some that aren't too thin or high of heel?

Goodness! Why ever are they in the sale? Can't believe they weren't all snapped up. Grin

I worry about my arms (so does my mum, and my sister). I have never looked at another woman and thought, "OMG! The state of her arms!" Have you? It is all in the mind. If it wasn't our arms, we'd be worrying about our earlobes or something else.

Your dress is lovely. Enjoy the day.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 29/08/2011 20:34

Wow! Was going to say I like bright red with purple but as you were Grin.

FoundWanting · 29/08/2011 20:34

I mean, my mum and my sister worry about their arms. They don't worry about my arms.

At least, I don't think they do. Confused

tethersend · 29/08/2011 20:42

Lainey1981 · 29/08/2011 21:15

Thanks tethers will pop into town tomorrow to try some bold ones one. But will also look for some dark grey/ pewtery coloured ones which don't scream cha cha cha

Hi Lainey! Gorgeous dress and for what it's worth I like cardis. I'm sure your arms are fab, but a wrap or cardigan would be handy if you were a bit chilly anyway.

and HallnotOates gets my very first Angry for being bitchy.

Lainey1981 · 30/08/2011 09:37

thanks. My arms honestly aren't fab, wish they were, no one ever sees them apart from dp. I am off to town in a while so hopefully can find a nice wrap or somet.

AwinmawY. You get my first V waves fingers for not reading the thread.

GloriaVanderbilt · 30/08/2011 10:03

LOL at the yellow boots, they're larvely Grin

Lainey I hope you feel better
Hall you are a shocker

but got there in the end.
I love the dress btw, really nice. Silver heels would be perfect with it, maybe a silvery shawl thing, draped over both arms? Not too tricky.

I have a tattoo on my upper arm which is old and was a mistake endured under threat, so I always try to get sleeves on things...one day I'll get it removed properly.

AWimbaWay · 30/08/2011 10:20

HallnotOates I did read the thread, and although you went on to give advice you were still bitchy to start with, but I guess we all have off days. Smile

Good luck with the shopping Lainey!

HallnotOates · 30/08/2011 11:04

what can you do.
i am a bitch

AWimbaWay · 30/08/2011 11:07

I never called you a bitch HallnotOates, I'm sure you're perfectly nice, I said you were bitchy on this thread, huge difference.

HallnotOates · 30/08/2011 11:11

so you can be bitchy and not a bitch strokes beard
