Hi,
Have just bought this dress for a wedding I am going to on Friday in Budapest.
I have no clue what colour shoes to wear with it. Also, i have horrid fat arms so want a cardi or wrap to wear with it too.
I was thinking silver, but am clueless. Please help. I would prefer flat or flatish shoes as am fairly tall 5ft9 and not used to heels.
Thanks

Shrug

I agree that it looks good by itself and it is quite busy at the front, so it's going to be difficult to get something that won't make it even busier looking iyswim. For similar reasons, I ended up wearing what was bought as a sarong originally and pulled it under my arms, so's there wasn't too much up front.

I'll have another look for you.

Good luck

Oh that is lovely hall alas, cannot stretch to £145, flights and hotel have already cost us £600

Yellow isn't my friend either, not next to my face, but surely on your legs/feet it won't do any harm? I'm very blue and corpselike pale-skinned and yellow shoes don't do terrible things to me.

It was a serious suggestion, by the way. Just read it back and realised it could sound a bit snarky but I didn't mean to be.

The back of your dress is v pretty though and it would be a shame to put something over it rather than under it.

Lainey1981 · 29/08/2011 14:24

Maybe I'll just bite the bullet and go bare armed. Only know the bride and groom and they will be too busy to be horrified by my bingo wings

That dress Is lovely but you will kill it with a shrug - it'll be overkill to have the frills and an additional neckline.

I would get a spray tan and go bare-armed. And silver or nude heels would be fine (not strappy - old fashioned. Go for a court with a pointed toe.) but personally would put a fuscia pink heel with them. If you have to wear something on your arms, carry a pashmina but hold it in the crook of your arm, not across the shoulders.

Lainey1981 · 29/08/2011 14:38

Lol ruby sadly not the bride
ifancy & ladyclarice like the idea of bright shoes, shall experiment tomorrow.
Trying to think when can fit in spray tan. What do I ask for/ where to go for one that suits v pale blonde? I do NOT want to be orange

I had a fake tan and explained that I only wanted a light tan and the beautician said she'd just give me one spray. It was great ? just tanned enough. Think it was in Debenhams; it was definitely St Tropez they used.

TracyK · 29/08/2011 15:59

Yes - I'd get spray tan = or get to the shops and buy st tropez and put it on tonight and experiment till Wed - then it has time to wear off or be topped up by Friday.

I'd go online and find someone who does free returns for a miriade of colours of pashminas and then decide in the house which to use. But I have to agree - there will ALWAYS be someone with bigger arms than you! Plus the dress isn't too revealing.

Get a nice cuff and nice manicure - will make you feel better bout your arms and ditch the pash as soon as you've had 2 drinks. Get some body shaper thingy for your midriff - even if you don't need it in that area - will help your posture and confidence.

I'd find a nice silvery, wedge (low), gladiator type sandals, or if such a thing as wedge flip flop (posh ones - not beachy ones).

MrsCampbellBlack · 29/08/2011 16:05

You could go for a white linen type jacket.

But I'd be inclined as others have said to fake tan, shove some tess daly gold shimmer stuff from m&s on your arms and legs and go for it.

YouCantTeuchThis · 29/08/2011 16:11

silver shoes

Ifancyashandy · 29/08/2011 16:14

Personally not a fan of St Trop as a spray tan - can gona bit orange. Fake Bake is my spray tan of choice - a decent salon will offer it in different shades (light / med / dark).

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 29/08/2011 16:14

Personally I think purple and silver's a bit 'I'm dressed as an ancient Roman for my am-dram society'.

Nude would be better.

But bright yellow is best of all.
