I bought this the other day dress which is viscose and not fantastically well made, but have you seen the price of the dresses in Kew and Jigsaw lately????!!!! And this cotton top and this cotton and silk for work, although I hadn't realised that apparently burgundy is the new cobalt blue. this is nice spots and burgundy! although I think this one is nice, it screams fashion victim I read Grazia all over it.

AitchTwoOh · 23/08/2011 19:51

what do you mean you miss style on Mn? are you really persisting with the fiction that you haven't Been Here All The Time? Hmm

LOVE most of these things (apart from bag, but that is cos of 100% polyurethane rather than design), so great when a shop just nails a season i think. although zara not kind to the thick of waist (moi). we need another 'put down the bun and back away, fattie' boot camp, coddie.

MrsCampbellBlack · 23/08/2011 19:56

Oh yes of course it so frivolous to buy a barbour that'll last bloody donkeys years than a shite coat from zara that will fall to pieces after one winter Hmm

vesela · 23/08/2011 19:59

just check the label to see if it's made in Brazil...

www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2028041/Zara-accused-employing-children-young-14-slave-labour-factories-Brazil.html

I do like Zara, but I was Shock at that. How hard it is to keep an eye on what your subcontractors are doing?

AitchTwoOh · 23/08/2011 20:00

ooooh, polyurethane handbags at dawn! Grin

anyhoo, just saw the leggings.... i have good legs but still think i'd look like i was trussed and waiting for a hot oven. think they are Too Young for, well, basically anyone on MN, tbh.

ameliagrey · 23/08/2011 20:07

I don't get Zara..

I once bought a line skirt and ebayed it.

The quality is poor, most things are either overly dressy ( for me anyway) and not for everyday, or the everyday stuff is just boring.

The shops always look tatty and clothes all over the place- a forage inthe Oxford Street branches has me running out screaming for prozac.

ameliagrey · 23/08/2011 20:07

linen skirt.
Gawd, must learn to touch type.

Orangesarenottheonlyfruit · 23/08/2011 20:07

Oh god lord. Have serious lust for those sparkly leggings. All I need now is the excuse to buy them. They are seriously sexy!!!

rarebreed · 23/08/2011 20:11

Am also loving the sparkly leggings, have got big night out about 6 weeks after i have this baby, so sparkly leggings and some kind of tummy-skimming dress/tunic?

FoundWanting · 23/08/2011 20:12

Are we all going to have metallic legs this a/w then? And ponchos? Grin

I have got some gawjus bronze 7/8 length trousers off a market stall from a decade ago. I knew they were worth hanging onto.

TapselteerieO · 23/08/2011 20:12

I agree that they have great stuff just now, not keen on the gold top with the big ugly zip at the back that would annoy me, I am too short for the lovely silver trews, but I really like them - I know you are very proud of your pins cod, so you will look fab in them.

I am just mostly too short for Zara, so I am slightly peeved, trousers have silly zips at the ankle back so don't lend themselves to being shortened, but they would look ridiculous on me.

Really like the spotty green top, especially if it works on large-ish norks (32G) and the red spot blouse florence linked to is very lovely too.

FoofFighters · 23/08/2011 20:15

I just browsed the coats and all the models have their heads cut out the pictures. I'd still like to see how a head goes with the coat Hmm

Ifancyashandy · 23/08/2011 20:20

No No And thrice NO to Phase 8 and the like!

Am 40, practically all my wardrobe has come from Zara for past 3 years. Amazing clothes. And lon lasting in my experience.

And, ahem, my style is oft praised Grin.

But am tall (5'9") and have a 40 inch inside leg and I do think they cut for the longer lady. Have norkage also.

MrsCampbellBlack · 23/08/2011 20:21

Tapselteerie0 - I am also short and find a lot of zara doesn't fit particularly coats and jackets as the waist goes in at the wrong point on me.

I got some lovely pleather leggings in topshop a few weeks back - suspect I may look a tad Liz McDonald in them but hey ho.

callmemalcolm · 23/08/2011 20:30

tapsel :)

the trousers always used to be SO LONG - dunno if still are. tried some coloured jeans on in summer and they were ok...

Mrs cb - i just cant afford it

callmemalcolm · 23/08/2011 20:30

have the alvins in the basket

noddyholder · 23/08/2011 20:32

I have the silver trousers

callmemalcolm · 23/08/2011 20:33

noddy

am i sizing UP or down

FellatioNelson · 23/08/2011 20:33

I saw the Zara window in Bluewater this week and it was drop dead fantastic. I rarely go inside though. But for You Young People for whom long-lasting quality is not always the issue, and budget is more important, it is a fab shop.

noddyholder · 23/08/2011 20:34
noddyholder · 23/08/2011 20:37

I really like the snake skin jumper in green.

jafina · 23/08/2011 20:46

I am 41 and love love love Zara, especially the knitwear. I can't wear wool and they do loads of cotton and viscose knitwear which is fab. No it doesn't last for years but I get bored of stuff more quickly than that.

I bought a fab pair of skinny khaki jeans there last year and I am not skinny Wink, wore them today. mummy tummy and average size norks here.

I am salivating to go and have a look, have not been shopping for AGES.....

callmemalcolm · 23/08/2011 20:50

i only ever see people about 40 in there!

agree the Ox st branches are bad but thats typical of ox st

tulpe · 23/08/2011 20:53

I want those silver trousers. They would look gorgeous with an over-sized black v-neck a la Stella McCartney and heels.

Am off to peruse their website now..........
