Grin

Because moonlight gives you a nice glow and doesn't show up your wrinkles or grey hair.

BTM, just wasn't going to happen, week from hell and have viewing on Sunday so need to spit polish house - any tips on how to make a place appear less cluttered would be gratefully received. I keep telling myself 'you only need one buyer'..... Would love to do the next one ( will there be a next one?) as need to put faces to names and bore sropps re bongo :)

MrsSchadenfreude · 08/10/2011 15:12

Afternoon, Hags. Grin
Am now back in Paris, preparing to do marathon Monoprix shop and cook dinner. Still feeling a little delicate from Thursday and don't think I will be drinking yet.

BD, Ruby and all, you didn't miss much. They just yacked on about knitting patterns and corn plasters all evening, no-one drank a thing, it was all over by 9pm, very dull. Wink

I had a lovely lie-in this morning, still in my PJs at lunchtime. No singing, shopping or sports-spectating for me, thank goodness.

bigTillyMint · 08/10/2011 18:12

Still in your PJs?Envy

MrsS, was thinking of you as we toasted our friends this afternoon at their wedding blessing. Though not with 2 bottles each Grin

Off dancing later - I'm such a social butterfly Grin

Stropperella · 08/10/2011 18:51

Only made it back home about an hour ago! Had a great time last night, but I think I drank too much Grin I therefore apologise for being boring/scoffing v. nice food in an unseemly manner/general silliness etc etc. Sorry that I didn't get to talk properly to either Tilly or Herbs - you two had a lucky escape Grin. I was vastly impressed by MrsS's stamina. Amazing! Everyone was v. lovely and not sufficiently hag-like. You have all been telling big fibs on here.

Blackduck, you must come next time. BTW, I always found the best way to declutter the house before a viewing was to stuff everything I possibly could into all the cupboards and then put heavy items of furniture in front of the doors to stop it all the stuff suddenly bursting out during the viewings.

Blackduck · 09/10/2011 08:03

Strops, reminds me of an aunt who shoved things in the oven and the washing machine....! Talking of which dog will have to go in the bongo for yh duration which will doubtless confuse him. MrsS you are clearly a legend!

MrsSchadenfreude · 09/10/2011 09:07

I think, Lush, rather than legend. Blush
I am still not feeling quite the ticket, and this was from Thursday night...

OP posts:
Stropperella · 09/10/2011 10:41

Hope the viewing goes well, Blackduck. And I too might declutter by stuffing things in the washing machine. Oven a bit more dangerous, as I tend towards absentmindedness and might well turn it on with the stuff still in there...

MrsS, I was thinking of your stamina in terms of going without sleep and bouncing from food poisoning as much as knocking back the vino :)

I am pleased to report that my family did survive without me for 24hrs Grin, although dd and ds only got to their various activities on Sat morning because I phoned at 9.45. I had to phone 3 times before ds finally picked up and said they were all still in bed. ds and dd have to be in the swimming pool by 11am. Yesterday I bought dh an alarm clock and a watch, as these are things that he has never bothered with during all the time that I have known him. dh also took the children out to lunch yesterday and said that they all had a really good conversation, with dd being both interested and interesting. dd and dh virtually never talk, so this is great progress. It all goes to show that I should Get Out More.

Stropperella · 09/10/2011 10:42

bouncing back, ahem

CointreauVersial · 09/10/2011 11:18

You definitely should, Strops!

DH always makes a huge show of Managing Perfectly Well Without Me; I come home from any trips away to find the house sparkling and the DCs sitting at the kitchen table meekly doing their homework. It never seems to happen like that while I'm in charge; clearly I'm doing something wrong.

bigTillyMint · 09/10/2011 12:09

House sparkling Envy Send him this way please!

Blackduck · 09/10/2011 14:33

Dp and ds have boys night if I'm out which involves a takeaway, slobing on the sofa and playing little big planet...
Viewing not positive if length of time is anything to go by.....ahh well, may be the next one....

MrsSchadenfreude · 09/10/2011 23:07

Girls have no school tomorrow, and I have rashly said I will take them to Disneyland. I am hoping it will be nice and quiet and have my plan of attack to put into action. I don't think any schools have half term yet?

OP posts:
Blackduck · 10/10/2011 06:21

Did they get you at a weak moment? (hate Disneyland, rather stick pins...) nope, it's not half term for a couple of weeks yet!

Stropperella · 10/10/2011 09:27

We are off to Germany soon and I have promised to take the children to Europa Park, which is the German version of Disneyland. I am expecting it all to be very Grimm.

bigTillyMint · 10/10/2011 09:59
Grin We did Disneyland 18mths ago - got there before it opened, left after the fireworks. Never again Grin
Blackduck · 10/10/2011 10:02

Stropps - Grin

CointreauVersial · 10/10/2011 13:21

DS1 has an Inset Day next Thursday, and I shall be dropping him and three mates outside the gates of Chessington World of Adventures at 10am to fend for themselves.

Oh, alright, I'll buy him a ticket to get in, I'm not that mean. Grin

bigTillyMint · 10/10/2011 13:36

Perfecto!

herbaceous · 10/10/2011 18:29

Bow before me, hags. Today I happened upon the filming of Celebrity Great British Bake Off. It's in the grounds of a local park and stately home that I frequent with DS.

I stood behind Mel while she was being filmed, ostensibly giving DS a snack but rather taking my time about it. Didn't recognise any of the 'celebs'. There was a kind of ante-room at the back, full of food. Not sure if that was stuff they'd made, or stuff wheeled in when their efforts fail to rise.

orangina · 10/10/2011 19:44

Really enjoyed friday night and loved meeting most of you (in that everyone I met was great, but I'm sorry I didn't speak properly to everyone...... Grin)

Can we do it again some time please?!

orangina · 10/10/2011 19:45

And no-one was at all crepey! And yes, I too am in awe of MrsS's stamina re: drinking and sleep deprivation.....

bigTillyMint · 10/10/2011 20:02

OMG Herbs! I am soooo Envy I wonder when that will be on?

Yes, let's do that Orangina (bit disappointed you didn't turn up in an orange all-in-one), especially as I didn't get to speak to you or Strops Grin

Blackduck · 11/10/2011 08:53

I am Sad counldn't be there.....
Houseviewing - has come back, likes, but not sure about commute - FFS do people not look at such things before they draw up their search area?!
We are really thinking this might happen and dp is mentally half way there! (scary thing is bigger mortgage and we both work in less than stabel areas - if there is such a thing anymore....)

wilbur · 11/10/2011 14:05

Yes, last Friday was lovely - really nice to meet everyone. The demographic of the BFI has changed somewhat from my previous experiences - gone is the scattering of film buffs discussing Jean Renoir, replaced by women in backless sequinned dresses (I wonder what that particular girl thinks of Wim Wenders' oeuvre). Still, I thought we fitted in quite well Smile and crepeyness was nowhere to be seen.

Having said that, I was quite tired on Saturday and fell asleep on the sofa in the afternoon with my face mashed into the cushions, which are jumbo corduroy. I woke up with the cord pattern branded on my face and it took hours to finally go. HOURS. FFS.
