Please help me. Since I turned 37ish my normal deodorants just Arnt doing a good enough job As soon as it goes over 20 degrees I'm sweating and getting BO. I'm so embarrassed changing my clothes twice a day sometimes and washing in-between I use sure extra protection stick. The £5 a stick one. It's ok but on hot days it's not good enough. Can any one recommend a deoderant for people with this issue. Failing that I'm off to the doctors. :(

I have same problem, just tried mitchums, didn't seem to make a difference. I tried rexona in nz and that worked, haven't seen it anywhere else though

HouseOfBamboo · 29/07/2011 22:34

Splash your pits with cold water and wait till they are really dry before applying deodorant.

I've always found Mum Unscented to be pretty good.

1gglePiggle · 29/07/2011 22:35

Try driclor or anhydrol forte from a pharmacy.

Bohica · 29/07/2011 22:35

I'm the same & I'm pissing collegues off by having the air con blasting artic all day because of my pits.

Booandpops · 29/07/2011 22:47

The mumsnetters that have this issue also? I'm assuming you havnt found a good one yet then? I worked today and had to leave early I was strati g to smell so bad. I can't bear it! Beginning of menopause maybe?

Maybe try TripleDry, or the Driclor / Anydrol ones. Latter 2 from pharmacist I think.

But if it persist - go to docs. Hyper-hyrdosis is a recognised phenomenon, there is stuff docs can do to help, and they might want to investigate to check that nothing (eg hormones) is a bit off.

Interestingly - well, for a sweaty pits thread - botox can be used in local area to prevent sweating!

HazeltheMcWitch · 29/07/2011 22:52

Arragh. Hyperhidrosis I meant.

And look, there's even a support group - might be of some use to you? HERE

Booandpops · 29/07/2011 22:58

Thanks Hazel :)

I know someone who had surgery to remove the sweat glands in his armpits because of sweating.

Mine are ok in normal everyday situations but dressed up in my formal work wear & feeling the pressure I really suffer, I have to have deo & perfume in my bag & have recently taken to rubbing alchol hand wash under my arms before a meeting Blush

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 29/07/2011 23:25

Try Driclor Boo. It does work (you apply it at night and it can be a bit itchy but persevere).

I have tried pretty much every single 'norma'l anti-perspirant on the market and nothing but this stops me sweating.

Bohica · 30/07/2011 00:00

Do I buy it online or pharmacy sag?

liftthatup · 30/07/2011 06:51

The newish Dove stick one that promises 48 hr protection is v good. Not a hardcore one like mitchum etc but I found the others really harsh and the Dove one has been faultless so far. It's a twisty up one, lasts all day and you can get almost anywhere. 5 stars from me.

redheadbedhead · 30/07/2011 06:57

I've been using the ordinary Dove cream stick thing for years now and never found anything to beat it. Just put it on once you're already in clothes, then you don't get white marks (IMO)

InsomniaQueen · 30/07/2011 07:13

Go to the dr - they have a couple that are on prescription. If you try those and still have a problem then you are more likely to get referred to a consultant. Don't suffer with this ladies there are things that can help, you just have to go looking for answers and be persistent. Some dr are sympathetic others are not but don't let them turn you away.

QuinnFabray · 30/07/2011 08:21

I second the Dove 48 hour protection one. I was getting awful BO last year, normal deodorants weren't working, but I've had no problems at all since changing to this one.

beverleyjayne · 30/07/2011 08:48

vichy is brilliant, its usually £8 but its on offer at essentual.com, cant link lol, dont know how!!!

LoveInAColdChamberOfSecrets · 30/07/2011 08:50

Mitchem. The roll on is the best, I find.

GreenTeapot · 30/07/2011 08:55

I use the ordinary Dove stick one too and have done for years. It's really, really good. The roll on and spray versions aren't nearly as good, and other sticks I've tried don't work as well either.

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 30/07/2011 09:13

You can get it in Boots Boo - with the normal deodorant. It's about £7 for a little roll-on but you don't need to use it everyday. If it suits you, buy it in bulk from ChemistDirect and it's a bit cheaper. Apply it at night - make sure your pits are dry and do it the very last thing before you get into bed. It will sting/itch a bit the first couple of times. After you've applied it maybe two nights running you will notice a difference and then you can apply it less often. I use it two or three times a week at most and I don't need to apply anything else.

It's a blessed relief to not have to wear black tops all the time to avoid unsightly sweaty patches Blush

TattyDevine · 30/07/2011 10:34

I use Driclor once a week in the summer (you apply it at night, then wash as normal in the morning and apply normal anti perspirant) and the rest of the time I use Mitchum 48 hour roll on "fresh" something or other (its for men but doesn't have a particularly spicy man scent so I happen to prefer it to the "women" one) and that keeps me completely free of both sweat patches or BO as long as I shower once a day.

The only exception is if I wear a polyester top on a particularly hot day (generally I avoid polyester but I had a couple of tops this summer which are so nice I overlooked the polyester thing) and I find by about the end of the day there is a very slight whiff to the top if I stick my nose in the general area (um yeah so dont Grin ) but if I didn't do my driclor and mitchum maintenance that would be much worse by the end of the day.

So do try to stick to natural fibres like cotton and linen and silk where possible - it really does make a difference.

ThisIsYourSong · 30/07/2011 11:23

I use Crystal www.thecrystal.com/

Its excellent, works brilliantly. I got it from Whole Foods, could try a health food type shop if you have any near. I used to get a bit whiffy on the tube sometimes Blush and it really really worked. Plus better for you.

The only downside is that it has no smell at all, which some people don't like.

peasandlove · 30/07/2011 11:28

I vote for Driclor too.. the stuff itches like mad, but it's worth it. I used to sweat so much I couldnt wear t-shirts at all or I'd get wet patches under the arms, and had to live in tank tops.

ningthemerciless · 30/07/2011 12:04

I have Driclor and I used to apply it regularly but actually haven't for at least 18 months now and I still find that I don't sweat (Or if I do, it's manageable). I don't use deo/AP during the day really either. That stuff is just brilliant!

TheOriginalNutcracker · 30/07/2011 12:08

I can't use any of the ones that you apply of a night, they all bring me out in a horrible rash.

I ue the Dove 48 cream one and that is good. It doesn't stop me weating completely, but it is managable.
