Hey pickled, Have lovely Sunday too.

carciofi · 07/08/2011 10:24

Pickled, hope you have a very happy birthday and happy anniversary too! I love those radios.

Red, better to be overdressed for sure! I have just started ELO, really enjoying it. I used to read Anna Quindlen's columns in Newsweek, she is a great writer.

Marsha, I will get DH in training!

Icecream, glad you had a good holiday. What is your birthday present, did you go for an Alexa?

OllieinOrange · 07/08/2011 10:30

Happy Birthday Lovely Pickled and Icecream - hope you both have lovely days. I love Roberts radios Pickled - I was all set to buy a Union Jack one from JL at Easter - until DH pointed out that Holland doesnt have digital radio so it wouldn't work Hmm
Marsha I'm going to try the poncho on this week. Will report back - but already seen some grey suede wedged boots which would look good with it!

Off to see Bridesmaids this evening with a lovely friend - grabbing some pasta beforehand to make more of a night of it. Real treat swanning out of the house at 5pm!

Happy birthday Pickled and Icecream - how lovely, a pink Roberts radioSmile, I would love one.
Hmm... does afternoon tea and maybe on somewhere else afterwards call for more than one outfit?Wink
Off to work now, yes Bloss it is very busy, which as Dh would say is a quality problem (as opposed to not being busy).
We have a new cleaning lady starting on Tuesday, having struggled for the last while ourselves, hurrah for a house all clean at the same time time, as opposed to one room at a time!

blossoming · 07/08/2011 13:26

Hi everyone! Welcome back icecream, and happy birthday to you and to pickled.

I was watching the final concert of the festival on Welsh tv last night, and the 50+ soloist was wearing a strapless dress. At the end of one song she lifted her arm up. I am too chicken to post in AIBU, but really, aibu to not want to see a wobbly 50+ woman's armpit? Am I turning into my mother to think, get some clothes on? Why is everyone wearing strapless, mermaid dresses these days?

I am with marsha on the liking to be 'out' and seeing other people. I am from the sticks as you know!

What would you wear to the beach when you are meeting 2 other couples with kids, one your bil? It's a one piece job isnt' it?

petitdonkey · 07/08/2011 13:38

Have a lovely day Birthday Girls x

Afternoon tea somewhere glamorous sounds good - does that call for the shift dress and court shoes look that I secretly love but have no opportunity to wear??!

petitdonkey · 07/08/2011 13:39

I'm thinking that <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.com/imgres?q=sex+and+the+city+2&um=1&hl=en&client=safari&sa=N&rls=en&biw=1670&bih=844&tbm=isch&tbnid=0ajcMYITOZq3EM:&imgrefurl=justjared.buzznet.com/photo-gallery/2197662/sex-and-the-city-2-bergdorf-goodman-04/&docid=g1y_QcXE2qIieM&w=1222&h=817&ei=Poc-Tq6_McvAswahxM0h&zoom=1" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this will be the collective look!!

blossoming · 07/08/2011 13:39

Most definitely petit. It calls for the best versions of ourselves!

OllieinOrange · 07/08/2011 13:54

If I sized down, would this stripey cardi go with grey Agnes or are the wide stripes and baggy style going to make me look overly large n' lumpy regardless?

OllieinOrange · 07/08/2011 13:57

Petit I knew that it was going to be a pic like that before I clicked on it! I may have to Janice!

Afternoon champagne for meet-up is definitely a good idea!!! Looking forward to sharing a room with you ollie. It will probably be me with the hangover this time as I seem to get headaches after just one glass of anything alcoholic these days Hmm.

Happy birthday pickled and icey!

Forgot what else I wanted to say...

IceCreamCastles · 07/08/2011 16:08

Happy birthday and anniversary to you too pickled- it's our anniversary today too! I think I knew that we both fit married on our birthdays but not on the same birthday- what a coincidence!

Dh bought me some beautiful diamond earrings and dd got me some little pearl ones that she chose herself (good taste). Decided against alexa for now but am heading to mulberry outlet soon so we'll see what that brings!

Going to Cambridge tomorrow to meet up with my wonderful friends from university tomorrow- hoping for more good weather so we can do the whole touristy punting and picnic thing.

So excited about meet up and also happy to go 'out out'. I'll save my meagre alcohol rations so I can join in with a few bubbles.

Tricky outfit choice bloss- I would be including shorts but you have great legs so maybe not

Me me me, sorry- will catch up later

pickledsiblings · 07/08/2011 16:23

Icey (stole that from Fritzi Grin) many happy returns.

MarshaBrady · 07/08/2011 16:26

Happy birthday Pickled and Icecream! How did I miss that, mning without glasses...

notyummy · 07/08/2011 16:37

Happy birthday Icey and pickled!

Hope you are having great days.

happilyeverafter · 07/08/2011 17:24

Happy birthday pickled and Icecream.

Love the stripe cardi Ollie, great shape and colours.

IceCreamCastles · 07/08/2011 17:25

I like my new nickname Grin

blossoming · 07/08/2011 17:55

Ahem, of course I'll be wearing @$%£ shorts! What do you take me for??

Who has ST Style today? Seen the bikini spread? Doesn't Anne Hathaway look appalling, and Gwyneth too imo.

That is some strange coincidence icey and pickled. Have fun in Cambridge and on your night out pickled.

ollie, I'm not sure about the cardigan either. What colour agnes do you have?

I have been thinking of the things that make me happy. Currently we are having a run on DS sleeping till 7am (for the first time ever and he is almost 7). Also my Paperchase pencil case, and my fuchsia espadrilles.
Also my library. I have had some great books recently and just finished Beach Babylon. Fabulous!

IceCreamCastles · 07/08/2011 18:15

Oh go

IceCreamCastles · 07/08/2011 18:21

Oops- that was supposed to say oh good bloss- glad shorts will feature Grin

Thank you for all the birthday wishes Smile

AntPants1 · 07/08/2011 19:17

Happy birthday icey and pickled

Am out with DH tonight...Harry Potter and Mexican. Yay!

redllamayellowllama · 07/08/2011 19:44

Happy birthday to Icey (like that nn very much) and Pickled - lovely gifts all round. Would recommend lots of dried apricots Icey - was blighted with a similar complaint.

Ollie I like the Cardigan in principle but can't see how it would hang nicely when on and would definitely be too flappy to wear open.

Bloss I was unimpressed with Gwyneth too - I think she may have overdone it slightly and gone Geri Halliwell; The Yoga Days. But she does irritate me rather, so maybe I'm just being cruel.

Have fun tonight Ants!

Lovely day today at my friend's father's farm nearby. DS got a bit mucky in the cow sheds and had the time of his life.

Am also of the out out school of thought and also love The Wolseley. In fact, it is where DH proposed. Can't remember how this was conducted off board last time - via pm's or e-mail?

FritziGreenEyes · 07/08/2011 20:38

Think the credit for "icey" goes to mrscb actually Smile.

ollie Think the cardi would be too flappy if worn undone and not be good for cycling.

bloss Maybe shorts on beach plus new havaianas? Or tunic over bikini/swimsuit? I always admire sarongs on other people but I always end up re-tying and adjusting.

pickled The hammock is such a lovely gift for your anniversary. Makes me even more embarrassed that I forgot to get anything for DH (my DH that is not yours Grin)

red I am not a big Gwynnie fan either. Was just skimming your post and wondering how your DH proposed via e-mail at the Wolsely Grin.

bloss Love your happiness list! I am always too focussed on things that aren't ok and need to be fixed etc. Things that made me happy this weekend:
Test driving a second-hand Mini
Having my hair cut
DH taking DD to children's art festival today
Shredding
Having time to cook properly
Reading
Watching Damages series 2 with DH
Wearing my chambray jumpsuit on Friday night

wan Have your visitors left?

Ambernj1 · 07/08/2011 20:40

Hello all

Happy birthday ICC and pickled hope you have both had lovely days!

Love that cardi ollie, adding it to my wish list!

Went to Lollibop today and wore Earharts, Uniqlo slogan tee and grey supergas. Was going for sort of casual urban chic - fear I just looked a mess, especially when I had to sling my North Face on as it chucked it down. Still DS seemed to enjoy himself and DD was very good and slept a lot!

Have bought the shred and plan to start tomorrow - need to shift this baby weight!

Would love to join you all on the 8th if you don't mind a newbie interloper? And assuming I can persuade DH to brave the 2 DCs (though as he's off to Paris on a stag in a couple of weeks I think it's the least he can do!)

Hope you have all had lovely, stylish weekends!

petitdonkey · 07/08/2011 20:52

Agree with the out out sentiments but am a little worried that afternoon tea can be quite sedate affair so 12-15 very stylish ladies gossiping might be rather loud??? Does it matter? I tend to worry lots about not upsetting other people, probably because I know how loud I can be!!

Amber - I'm a relative newbie too and didn't go to the last meet-up so we can hold hands if you like Wink

All of you size 8-10 W&A ladies, have you checked out the new Johnnie B collection?? The leather jacket looks nice and is a steal and these are a kind of Agnes-likey. Some other bits caught my eye but I think that I'm too fat they wouldn't fit me.

The meet-up feels like a good Shred incentive....
