Time for a new thread.....

OP posts:
wideawakenurse · 09/07/2011 14:03

Quickly posting to report on a lovely outfit I saw on the way home last night, might be of interest to those interested in coloured jeans. This girl had a pair of fushia jeans,
Gold ballet flats, black blazer and over sized black and gold print scarf. Looked lovely.

FritziGreenEyes · 09/07/2011 14:24

wan Glad that DH is better but please do look after yourselves. Like the sound of your Miami Vice outfit Wink

ollie Hope you are already lounging by the pool with a glass of something chilled.

red and mrsJ Have fun shoe shopping!

I have just noticed that I am wearing H&M top to toe today, think that hasn't happened since my days at uni: White denim shorts, pale grey cotton blouse and red Hasbeens for H&M. Although the Hasbeens are really comfortable to walk in I almost sprained my ankle. DH was Hmm

AntPants1 · 09/07/2011 16:59

Congratulations WAN and mrsjuan fantastic news and how lovely that you will be able to support each other. Do you both live near each other?

Am sitting on my credit card at the moment.

PORTIA4 · 09/07/2011 17:27

Snap Fritzi I too am wearing my red Hasbeens , they really are comfy!
Have just finished work and am about to drop DD1 at Oxegen, the Irish version of Glastonbury, she's really excited , even though it's her 3rd time going!! My idea of hell, camping in a mud pit ! it's quite close to where we live but there's no way that she's coming home!
My family are coming down tomorrow to celebrate my Dads 80th, all 6 siblings and partners and kids, so I better get cooking.

herecomesthsun · 09/07/2011 17:44

Can I ask re WAN and Mrs J's thoughts re maternity adaptations to the wardrobe Grin?

carciofi · 09/07/2011 17:46

Red, dinner sounds delish. I am not surprised you fell asleep with all you have going on.
MrsJuan or Wan, I have a couple of tops and IO bump bands if you'd like them? They are size 12.
Bloss, I need to give you back your maternity clothes too. I wore the long sleeve black top loads, thanks again!
Ants, I like your wishlist. Can you ebay some stuff to raise funds?
DD2 and I are going to Westfield tomorrow, I want to try on red J Brands and have a look in Mulberry.
Took the two girls to the fair today, poor DD1 had a great time but then fell out of her pushchair on our way back. She was ok but it was my fault as I forgot to strap her in and the seat on the Phil and Teds is quite high. She ran in shouting to DH that I'd pushed her out! Little drama queen.
Portia, well done to your DD3. Dublin Horse Show next!

herecomesthsun · 09/07/2011 17:46

In particular, do you think maxi skrts would a) save on buying wretched maternity tights or b) look Amish?

carciofi · 09/07/2011 17:50

MrsJuan or Wan, by the way, no charge of course, I was about to drop them into the charity shop. I have a long sleeve red H&M top, a long sleeved black Seraphine top, this blue top, short sleeve black H&M t shirt, black and white Isabella Oliver bump bands and a pair of leggings. My friend took everything else.

blossoming · 09/07/2011 18:21

Oh gosh carciofi, pass them on if you can, or charity shop them.

Inspired by the beach photo of eva longoria - you need to scroll down, I have purchased the racer back tank in fuchsia and white as cover ups for when I brave my bikinis on the beach. Also because I'm annoyed that I'm not waiting for anything, and all my recent purchases are going back!

mrsjuan · 09/07/2011 19:09

Thank you for the lovely offer carciofi- I'd be v grateful for the long sleeved tops if you don't mind- I'll cover the postage at least.

I passed on all my stuff to my sister and between us we've worn it out. Quite looking forward to shopping for some new things-obv still fairly early days though so don't want to get carried away.

Herecomesthesun- congratulations? Think certain maxi skirts can look good if not too voluminous and balanced with tighter top. Helps if you're willowy or waifish (hence I probably won't wear them!)

Sandal search unsuccessful so came home and ordered some lottas (better late than never) I did manage to find some blocks in tk maxx finally. Also a nice sequin top from topshop and a couple of t shirts from warehouse. No links sorry as on IPhone

Lovely top bloss- you are v clever at getting inspiration from the celebs.

Also carciofi- I'm in awe of how much you are getting out with your new dd and how relaxed you seem to be. Please could you send your secret along with the tops? Grin

blossoming · 09/07/2011 19:32

Laughing at better late than never mrsjuan. I had a certain thought today, what will I be wearing next summer? I bet you it will be coloured denim! I'm always a year late to trends!

blossoming · 09/07/2011 19:37

Just looked back at that beach photo. Pity the poor woman in the foreground with a slightly saggier appearance!
I am wondering whether my beautiful violet lake bikini will be on sale soon. I'll add it to my basket. Just in case!

wideawakenurse · 09/07/2011 19:56

Hello.

Fun day at the nursery was exhausting. Lots of food being eaten by toddlers in various locations, hence me feeling super anxious as DS ran around.

Carciofi thank you so much for the kind offer. I would love the leggings and the seraphine top you linked to. I will cover postage at the very least. That is so kind of you. Your trip tomorrow sounds good. Do have a look at the pinky/purple skinnies in Whistles. They are stunning, I would be buying if it wasn't for my current situation. Smile

bloss that tank is lovely, an those pictures of Eva, wow. I take it your bikini bottoms will be of a similar shape? Grin

Right must dash, have got a curry on the hob.

Back later!

reallygrumpy · 09/07/2011 20:19

Congratulations WAN and MrsJ, what lovely news! I'm counting down the days and only have just over 2 weeks to go till the arrival of DD2!

herecomesthesun-I didn't bother with maternity tights cos I foundthem so hopeless first time round so just bought bigger sized ones from M&S.

carciofi I'm so impressed you're getting out and about with both DDs. Enjoy Westfield tomorrow, I was there today for lunch and a film with a friend. We saw 'bridesmaids' which was great fun but I didn't have time for a mooch round the shops because my backache came back

redllamayellowllama · 09/07/2011 22:26

RG that seems to have flown by. I enjoyed Bridesmaids too; went with my sisters last week and we loved it. Our humour is of the scatological variety, so suited us down to the ground.

Hope DD is ok Carciofi, I once threw DS into the road from the top seat after bumping down the kerb with a little too much vigour Blush. The red Anna was in stock at the Bluewater branch of L K Bennett today if you're still feeling that way inclined. Have fun tomorrow!

Hope you love your Lottas MrsJ - which shade did you go for? Your iggle piglet umbrella story really had me laughing. How are you feeling?

WAN must have been exhausting indeed; how are you feeling in general? I remember being so bloody wiped out in the early days, which is particularly hard when you're not telling people.

Lovely top Bloss.

Hope tomorrow goes well Portia - that's some serious catering you're doing.

I spent aaaages looking at shoes today and ended up, rather predictably, buying the L K Bennett Taupe Sledge shoes. They are gorgeous and actually make my legs look excellent, so am pleased. They only had my size left, so I feel it was fate.

My Canadian cousin arrived this afternoon, who has a love of high-end goods deeper than any I have. We have a day of shopping planned for this week, I'm not buying a thing, but I know she will buy out Bond Street. Jimmy Choo has been mentioned.

blossoming · 09/07/2011 22:55

I love the sledge redllama. I almost bought the grey ones once.
reallygrumpy, good to hear from you. It's getting close now! Hope you'll soon be back posting regularly.
Feeling slightly tipsy. Stella was in the house...!

wideawakenurse · 10/07/2011 05:51

RG I can't believe how fast that has gone, 2 weeks!

Red lovely shoes, a very wise buy. It will be interesting to see how you restrain yourself in Bond Street. Smile

I have 2 weeks leave coming up, of which 6 of the days is in nursery. I am trying to plan some nice things so I really feel I have had some leave.

I was thinking of going to Dermalogica for their skin mapping. They have a store near Kensington high street. My Rosacea has got progressively worse since having DS.

Any other nice ideas?

MarshaBrady · 10/07/2011 09:17

WAN a break sounds ideal, do lovely stuff like lunches without the intensity of looking after a toddler at the same time.

Party last night was great. Wore Halston cashmere red dress (luxe) and VBruno boots. Good night for compliments . Was very funny, had a great time.

Today Pimms party. I am feeling inspired by all this good fun so Emo and Reine count me in for the September night time meet up. Bubbles, good lighting and high shoes.

carciofi · 10/07/2011 09:36

Red, lovely shoes. She is fine, thanks, but we both got a fright. A woman passing by shrieked as well!

Lovely tops, Bloss.

Marsha, your outfit sounds gorgeous.

Wan, I would go to the V&A and then for a nice lunch one day, or to a movie in the afternoon.

ReallyGrumpy, hope you are feeling well apart from the backache.

Wan, MrsJ, there is also a long sleeve black top and a going out sleeveless top, courtesy of Bloss! I also have this belt in black. I liked the Seraphine skinny jeans, it goes well with that. PM me your addresses and you are most welcome.

I find the days longer when we stay in and often I can't get the baby back to sleep, so take the DDs out for a walk/to the playground but I haven't ventured far. Going to meet Bloss et al will be our first big trip together! DD2 is almost a month old now. I am hoping she will start sleeping for longer stretches in the night soon, DD1 slept 11pm-6/7am from 8 weeks old.

Herecomesthesun, congratulations???

DH is not feeling well so I think Westfield is off. I do still like the Anna bag but am tempted by a Mulberry, as I have the money at the moment (present from DH). I am holding off to decide what I really want, because when it's gone, it's gone! I also saw the black AH Maeve back at 50% off, hmmmm.

blossoming · 10/07/2011 10:02

Morning everyone. I have a bit of a sore head. DH and I finished watching Mad Men series 2 last night. I must have had too much as DH caught me trying to walk like Joan at one point! I have already ordered series 3 and 4 (it's been our Saturday night viewing since Christmas!). Also DH is keen to get The Wire as someone was talking about it in work. It's nice to have one tv night a week!
Raining here. I thought the forecast was good for today. Lovely johnson'd legs hidden again. My parents come back today though, so that will be lovely.
DS's last week of school too this week. Doesn't look like they're having a sports day this year. And me doing all that training too!
DH's appointment with the consultant this week aswell.

carciofi, you must have had quite a scare there. But they do bounce I find (says me who's dd threw herself head first out of the highchair..)

Need to crack on. Roast beef and yorkshire puddings today. Bought some one cal spray yesterday. Has anyone tried it for yorkshires? Or roast potatoes? I may do 2 batches as an experiment.
Back later. Hope you're all having lazy Sundays with the papers (ha ha)!

redllamayellowllama · 10/07/2011 12:21

Bloss The Wire is fantastic, I cried when it finished ( I was 8 months gone, in fairness). Love the sound of you being caught walking like Joan (how successful were you? A tricky one to master, I reckon).

Glad to hear DD is ok Carciofi. Shame no Westfield.

Really gorgeous sounding outfit Marsha. Am very tempted by September meet-up, please keep me in the loop.

Just waiting for DH to get back from school after spending the morning decorating for his Blitz Week (he has the most hideous beard at the moment, which is soon to be out-hideoused by the droopy moustache he is planning to go with his RAF uniform) and then my cousin and I are off for lunch and a wander round local shops (namely Whistles, but I can't give them anymore of my money for a while, so will be browsing only...)

WAN definitely afternoon cinema - something so indulgent about it. Is your leave in July? I'd gladly meet you for lunch/coffee.

Slow-roast brisket (is already on) with shallots and potatoes tonight. Yum.

FritziGreenEyes · 10/07/2011 13:19

I admire all the lovely lunches you are preparing. We had only sandwiches because friends are coming round for a BBQ later.

rg Put your feet up and gather all your strength!

wan I would suggest an extended daytime nap. Not exactly an "activity" but for me it even beats shopping Grin.

bloss DH loved The Wire.

red Happy shopping!

carciofi Glad DD2 is ok. I once hit the curb with DD in the pram when she was a few weeks old. I was panicking about her having concussion but of course she was absolutely fine.

My sister is expecting DC3 in December. Have been avidly browsing maternity wear on her behalf and will order a few things for her. Smile

I am also slightly hyperventilating as we have a school reunion in September. I got the invitation yesterday and only eight weeks to go, eek! Will be shredding like mad until then and will drive you all mad with choosing the right outfit. Such a pressure when you meet people who have known you when you were young and wrinkle-free!

Happy birthday to portia's dad! Hope you have a lovely day with all your family!

ApuskiDusky · 10/07/2011 16:42

Hello all! Am back from my holiday in Cornwall (hope the weather continues to be OK and you don't have to resort to your wet weather plans Morag!).

First things first - congratulations to Amber on the arrival of Isabelle (lovely name!), and also pregnancy congrats to MrsJ and WAN! Lovely news.

I will try to catch up properly, but I just wanted to share the fruits of my shopping this afternoon for an interview on Tuesday in London, as it'll be too warm for a suit - so I bought this, which I love. It's actually a greeny grey so I can get away with it as an autumn (according to HoC I can wear 'lizard grey', sounds lovely!).

I had first of all bought this before I saw the other dress, but didn't really want sleeveless so took it back about half an hour after buying it!

So now I have the outfit sorted I am prepping for the interview - fingers crossed for this one as they have already agreed in principle to 4 days a week as they really liked my CV. Just have to live up to it now.

blossoming · 10/07/2011 18:03

That sounds very promising apuski, and that dress will be perfect for you.
