OP, the tunic is great, white jeans are fine, planning/worrying/casting thought as to what you wear to a sports day is in the spectrum of normality; buy it, wear it, enjoy it!

katieconundrum · 21/06/2011 14:25

Parent's races? Be warned! Our primary school stopped them after one mum tore her achilles and had to be carried off in agony! Never reinstated them either!

Make sure you all warm up!!

whoneedssleepanyway · 21/06/2011 14:29

I have DD1's first sports day in a few weeks time, do people really get that serious about it, one mum was saying to me how she had better not enter the mum's race as she would be too competitive...I was thinking crikey love you need to get some perspective...Grin

Hullygully · 21/06/2011 14:29

Slovely

ruddynorah · 21/06/2011 14:30

27?! I assumed 45! Are you sure you like it?

BulletWithAName · 21/06/2011 14:32

Me too ruddynorah Blush

HappyAsIAm · 21/06/2011 14:36

Its very nice, and you like it, which is the only thing that's important. I like to plan things in advance too (inluding outfits - one less thing to think about!). Enjoy the day!

Bluebell123 · 21/06/2011 14:36

never normally stray onto S&B as frankly have neither, but it was on most active and I'm supposed to be packing the house up online briefly... and am quite Shock at the battering OP is getting.

FWIW I think it's lovely, not per-una ish at ALL and you'll look great and have a wonderful time.

beautifulswan · 21/06/2011 14:38

Can you really be too young for a tunic? I'm 33 and would wear it.

beautifulswan · 21/06/2011 14:40

Hold on...I've got a GORGEOUS per una top!!!

PippiLongBottom · 21/06/2011 14:41

I'm nearly 36 and wouldn't wear it. I wore the festival combo as above.

ruddynorah · 21/06/2011 14:41

I'm 31 and wouldn't wear that, certainly not with white jeans. River island have nice tunics with 'younger' prints at the moment. Warehouse have a lovely Bali print dress which is tunic style with a plaited skinny belt. Oh and Zara have loads in their casual section. Many are belted which is much more flattering than a loose tunic that just hangs there.

BulletWithAName · 21/06/2011 14:43

I don't wear tunics so what's to my taste might not necessarily be yours of course! Grin I live in dresses...

beautifulswan · 21/06/2011 14:44

River island, 'younger prints'? Isn't that a bit crass?

BulletWithAName · 21/06/2011 14:45

I don't think so. I do think the print is a bit 'mumsy'. But if OP likes it, then balls to what any one thinks I say!

beautifulswan · 21/06/2011 14:48

Last time I stepped inside RI was to see if there was anything my 9 year old might wear(size 6), we were after something a bit jazzy but not slutty.(there wasn't) The shop was full of teens, I'd say the clothes are aimed at teens maybe very young twenties, wouldn't dream of shopping there for myself. But each to their own of course!

BulletWithAName · 21/06/2011 14:51

My DP's nan shops in River Island- I shit you not! She's 65 and looks gorgeous, not slutty or cheap at all.

I love River Island, would shop there more if I had the cash!

TattyDevine · 21/06/2011 14:51

Ah well better to be mutton than mumsy eh? Grin

Bluebell123 · 21/06/2011 14:51

In defence of the poor old much-maligned mumsy 'older print' Ted Baker tunic, it ties at the back, so imagined it would look quite elegant and fitted.

dexter73 · 21/06/2011 14:52

I think tunics are worn by older people. I can't remember ever seeing a 20 something wearing one. I'm not critisising tunics but I just don't think they are worn much by the younger generation.

ruddynorah · 21/06/2011 14:52

It's a very mumsy print. Verging on frumpy. Yes river island can be a bit teenager ish but they do have a good selection of dresses/ tunics/ playsuits in interesting prints. Lots have the swallow print which is popular at the moment. I would link but am on phone so a bit faffy.

madammecholet · 21/06/2011 14:53

I think you hit a wrong note with me, we pulled DS out of a school as it was crap. The school/parents were more interested in the parents social life, balls, tea parties, events, concerts than that of the kids education. The sports day was the epitomy of 'showyoffness' by the parents, it was so competitive both in what you wore, who you sat with and who won the parents races it made us furious.

We once heard a parent leaving saying 'top result for the family, kids won 3 races each and wife won hers too. wha hey . Tosser.

When did education/school become about the parents?

BulletWithAName · 21/06/2011 14:54

Tatty- Oh every time! Grin

Yes yes to the swallow print. I have a lovely swallow print chiffon prom dress that looks great on.
