My hair is just very grey and needs cutting! I get at least a week sans dp ands a year which is fab... Until about day three when I find I actual miss them Smile
Wilbur you sound like the perfect spy!! I am not sure people remember me either and am certainly ignored in most meetings!

herbaceous · 31/07/2011 10:04

I feel I'm instantly forgettable, but most people do seem to remember me. Apart from one woman, who I constantly have to re-introduce myself to. She claims she can't remember anyone, but I think she's just rude!

Name: the most common girls' name in my year of birth, and it seems there has to be at least two of us in any gathering of local mothers. DS name: number 12 on 2009 list. We very common.

Hair: grown-out bob, fried blonde ends, utter lack of style. MUST ADDRESS.

Having fretted for a few days re lack of friends, I have formulated a plan. One more activity in the evenings for me (yoga, dance, or band); actual planning of weekends away to visit far-flung friends, rather than waiting for them to ask; and pro-active nurturing of friendships with people I like. This will be odd, as I've never really had to do that before. How stalker-ish is it to post on someone's facebook 'fancy a trip to the park'?

motherinferior · 31/07/2011 11:24

Hair is Boris Karloff again. A short, bosomy redheaded Boris Karloff.

I am quite hard to forget Grin

MrsSchadenfreude · 31/07/2011 12:23

Better Boris Karloff than Boris Johnson. Or Boris Becker.

When I was younger, I was told that I looked like Sarah Ferguson. I think she is in need of a Good Haircut. Ditto Princess Anne and Camilla. All good examples of sticking with a haircut that probably suited you in your prime (not sure about PA on this point, actually), but that you should have moved on from in your late 40s/50s.

Herbs, ds''s first name isn't that unusual (usually in top 100, and is worrying creeping up) it's the combination of his first and last name - slam that into google and he doesn't feature (there are pages of 'me', some the real me, but most not, there is not, thankfully, a photo...ditto dp - except there IS a photo)
note on face book - no more stalkerish than googling top 100 boys names 2009 to find out what your ds is called :)

I am grey because I could never be arsed to dye it (been going grey since I was about 14 - thanks dad - and I just don't see it anymore!)

Are you a spy, Ruby?

Blackduck · 31/07/2011 15:24

my fb 'photo' is a picture ds drew of me for mothers day...he then announced that possibly it looked 'more like daddy in a red dress' Grin

MrsSchadenfreude · 31/07/2011 17:56

No pics of me on google images - there used to be, but they seem to have disappeared. Quite a lot of Russian lesbians though...and letters I wrote in a former job. V bizarre.

I am dithering about whether to make an apricot cake (more of a tart with Nice Pastry with apricots stuck in it) or lemon squares. I think the lemons will keep longer than the apricots.

Oh, and it is Wine o'clock here. Grin

Snort at "Daddy in a red dress". Small boys are charming, no?

I have spent the day scraping out compacted soil from two dead beds at the front of our house, followed by wirebrushing what felt like the Berlin Wall. Sometime this week I intend to paint the fucker. Anyway, have now showered and put on a dress. Dh is Shock and probably now thinks he's on a promise. I was fed up wearing old jeans shorts and a too short t-shirt that nicely highlights my mid area flub so though I would look nice for a summer evening, especially as I will be harvesting our first tomatoes and some courgettes for a nice salad.

Oooh, style AND gardening, what more could 40-something women want?

I have done a job application, the background reading for a meeting I've got to go to on Monday, and I've finished that sodding piece I had to rewrite. I want a(nother) glass of wine.

What a lovely weekend! Just pootling about in the house/garden, enjoying the sunshine. DH has just cooked up a storm on the BBQ (all three DCs declared that he was a "much better cook than mummy." Angry Ungrateful buggers.

Names - the DCs have reasonably uncommon combos of first names / surnames. There are only six references which come up when I Google DD2, and five of them are her (not bad when you aren't yet eight years old). Two panto cast listings, one mention for maypole dancing at the village pageant, and three mentions on the school website. Scary stuff.
