As the last thread is now full...

I cannot face cooking tonight so we are going over the road for sushi. DH pulled cat's bum face, but he has shown no inclination to cook either! Think miso soup and sushi will be v soothing as have had quite a busy week.

See MI I knew there would be someone around who would know someone even if it wasn't me. Now if you wanted a view on the future of renewal energy.....

MrsS, if you don't mind me asking, why the 3/4 year moves?

motherinferior · 29/07/2011 20:48

Actually I would much rather know about renewable energy! MrsS, I have to get this in (fnar) by Monday but don't worry; I've sorted pretty well everything. Now exchanging emails with octegenarian emeritius prof of Christianity in the US. (In what passes for my version of reality, this is entirely preferable.)

Thank you all. Have sunk into nice bottle of cheap pink fizz purchased by Mr Inferior as 'we're on holiday' drink.

And I have a WEEK of eating the things I like. Liver. Kidneys. Ooh I am offal...

MrsSchadenfreude · 29/07/2011 20:49

BD - because of my so-called career. We are all getting a bit fed up with it though, and I think we may settle in the UK next time.

OP posts:
Blackduck · 29/07/2011 22:48

MrsS and you so called career is? I kind of thought journalism and then you mentioned NATO and now I am confused (see 3/4 years makes me think military - army brat here....not a general are you??)

herbaceous · 29/07/2011 23:24

Spy?

MrsSchadenfreude · 29/07/2011 23:34

LOL at both of those! Grin

OP posts:
Blackduck · 30/07/2011 07:34

Ohh Spy Master? Our very own 'M' :) (but why is she hiring someone from the soil association? are they a covert operation?)

MrsSchadenfreude · 30/07/2011 11:13

Primarily multilateral negotiating... not entirely sure how I ended up doing this... but would rather not say any more in case I out myself completely.

Have booked Eurostar (at vast expense) to go and see my mother for a week. Please God let the weather be reasonable. Am planning to take the DDs to where I grew up and let them swim in the river like I used to. I am sure they will be Hmm about it!

OP posts:
Blackduck · 30/07/2011 11:40

are you like famous ?

CointreauVersial · 30/07/2011 12:23

Not sure I can come back on here and talk about domestic appliance love when I am up against a "multilateral negotiator".

But can I just profess my undying love and affection for my snazzy new Miele. It goes round corners! I can actually see where I've been! It doesn't smell of burning plastic and sound like a jet engine! DD2's green bedroom carpet now looks like a bowling green! After two crappy Hoovers and a Samsung (lasted six weeks - a record surely) in the last three years I think I can foresee a long and happy relationship.

Is it a middle-aged trait, I wonder, that sudden realisation that it's worth paying extra for "quality"? I've always been a cheap and cheerful Primark-and-Next kinda gal and I feel my attitude is starting to change.

Anyway, I was strangely delighted when the DCs spilt croissant crumbs all over the carpet at breakfast and I had to get the Miele out again. Grin

CointreauVersial · 30/07/2011 12:26

Hmm....I read on another thread that MrsS has a Russian name. Adds weight to that spy theory. Grin

MrsSchadenfreude · 30/07/2011 12:52

No! Absolutely not famous - v dull indeed. I do have a Russian name, though, and if you google me, I am the only one in the world (like MI) as I have an unusual surname too. Grin And not a spy. Really and truly.

We meet again, Meeeester Bond...........GrinGrin

motherinferior · 30/07/2011 14:30

I would like it on record I am ALL ALONE till Weds. When I will be ALL ALONE IN THE COUNTRY.

Blackduck · 30/07/2011 15:21

Dp and I are sadly three a penny, but ds is the only in the world Grin... We are know spies claim they are very ordinary Wink
Miele on my wish list. MI enjoy! I will be san dog and ds for a week and dp will be locked on study with pc doing paper so nearly the same!!

motherinferior · 30/07/2011 15:22

The Inferiorettes have been grumbling that they have particularly long and unique names. I am unsympathetic Grin

Blackduck · 30/07/2011 15:24

Dp and I am two a penny, but ds is unique! We all know spies claim they are very ordinary Wink
Miele on wishlist here.
MI enjoy, am sans dog and ds for a week and dp will be battling with his paper so nearly the same!!

wilbur · 30/07/2011 17:55

Actually, I think I may be a spy. I have a name that hides me entirely in the interweb (you would have to know me VERY well to find search terms that would find me). I have two valid passports from different countries. And, as people very rarely remember meeting me, I am clearly subtlety on legs. It's possibly because I have merrily dyed my hair every colour possible over the years, but I am constantly reintroducing myself to people, even people I just met, or have been on holiday with Shock. Dh (who everyone remembers Envy) thinks it's hilarious and calls me Mrs. Cellophane.

MI - envy that you are child-free for a week, even if you have deadlines looming. MIL has the dcs from Monday afternoon to Thurday morning, but I am working Tuesday and then have approx 3 weeks worth of admin and job to accomplish on Wednesday. What are my chances?

MrsSchadenfreude · 30/07/2011 19:54

I am v envious of those with 2 nationalities. I could have a German passport but when I enquired some years back, they curled their lip and said I would have to revoke my other nationality.

Our lovely, thick, bitey rescue Maine Coon has been with us a year tomorrow. Smile

Stropperella · 30/07/2011 21:23

I am feeling feak and weeble from too much rushing around. I like to live life in the slow lane and I do not like whizzing about, but the dc's social lives have been a whirl. Am also fed up with hoovering up sand. (I still say "meh" to Miele, as I killed mine in next to no time Grin )

I am too much of a gasbag to be a spy. As well as being a bit too dim and forgetful.

People seem to remember me. I suspect it is because I have silly hair.

MrsSchadenfreude · 30/07/2011 21:59

I get remembered as well. I suspect it is because I am ginger blonde.

How silly is your hair, Strop? Grin

OP posts:
Stropperella · 30/07/2011 22:11

On a hair silliness scale where 1 = completely sensible and 10 = outrageously silly, I am probably regularly scoring a 7. And when the old hormones are really going for it and the weather is duff, I can achieve a 9. Yet another reason why I will have to freelance from my home office forever. Grin

MrsSchadenfreude · 30/07/2011 22:26

My hair is v dull at the moment. It just about avoids being in that style beloved by 40 something women - with the front curled under sort of like a bob and then a longer flicky out layer. And my roots need doing. Have not had outrageous hair since I was 19 and used to model for local hairdresser.

OP posts:
CointreauVersial · 30/07/2011 23:24

Yikes, MrsS, I think we are hair twins. Strops, you're not Rebekah Brookes, are you?

I will not hear about killing Mieles - anyway, I have invested £30 in a ten year guarantee.

MI - all alone???! Lucky lucky lucky. I haven't been alone since 1999. DH and I are already feverishly planning for October half-term, when we are packing the DCs off for a 3-day PGL break. But being without DCs and DH.....ohhhh, what bliss.
