What can fat people wear when it is hot?

AtYourCervix · 11/06/2011 10:13

Planning ahead to forthcoming holiday at the end of july somewhere nice and hot.

Obviously I can't wear shorts but I have gone right off the 3/4 length linen trews I've been wearing for yonks. I rather like palazzo types but would it not be a bit hot having all my legs covered up?
WHat do you think?

Dresses rather than skirts and tops I reckon. One colour/pattern all the way down is better. Liked noddy's. Drapey/ruched jersey is what you want I think.

FriedaRoam · 11/06/2011 18:18

right go to cheapo nail place
get a file and polish
say " hello id like a file and polish please" Wink
they will put colour on your nails. you WONT bite them then as they will look too purdy.

repeat every week. costs £5 ehre

AtYourCervix · 11/06/2011 18:19

i will bite them. i know i will. and can't wear colour cos of bastard work.

I'm a Size 22. Just back from having a manicure and pedicure (very natural, nude colours this time - saving blue toenails for hols.) and eyelash tint. Do wear make-up but find it easier to tint lashes anyway. Am going to a party tomorrow, but that would be my normal pre-holiday drill too. Got highlights sorted earlier in week.

I also like my animal prints (probably wearing a Boden blue one tomorrow to party, if I don't wear a tea dress), and wear leggings, and have lots of tops which don't have cap sleeves, eg stripy tops I got at Style 369 - wll try to link. And love interesting accessories to style outfits.

If I can do these things, sure you can too. Some great suggestions for things to try above. Good hunting.

Maxi dresses don't flatter anyone, imho.
Even fat birds often have lovely calves & ankles, make the best of it.
Long tunic style top with leggings is good for that.
But I don't see a problem with 3/4 length, either.

pettyprudence · 11/06/2011 19:26

slightly off topic but re: chaffig - use a roll on deodorant. it really works (might have to reapply half way through the day)

AtYourCervix · 11/06/2011 19:40

i chaffed in egypt in 1993 when i was a size 10. even then my thighs met in the middle. will try deo and some big pants.

On another thread saw Lanacane anti chafing gel recommended - also Avent liquid baby powder - haven't tried either.
