What can fat people wear when it is hot?

Planning ahead to forthcoming holiday at the end of july somewhere nice and hot.

Obviously I can't wear shorts but I have gone right off the 3/4 length linen trews I've been wearing for yonks. I rather like palazzo types but would it not be a bit hot having all my legs covered up?
WHat do you think?

whereis the OP?
i want a look at her legs

AtYourCervix · 11/06/2011 17:36

shorts look vile on anyone over the age of 18. quite posibly the least flattering garment ever created.

Should add, I've veered off into general conversation now, not about the OP. Blush

Cervix I have just bought this skirt in M&S it's long but light to wear and most importantly it has a fitted waist (sorry but elasticated waists add POUNDS to your butt) you could wear it with t-shirts or something more fitted. It really is a nice everyday skirt and despite being linen does NOT crease like buggery the moment you move a limb.

I personally think maxi dresses are something a larger lady can wear as it's more obvs they are large rather than just pregnant. My sis is size 20 and looks fab in them. However I also know she wears them cycling short things underneath to prevent chaffing as well.

AtYourCervix · 11/06/2011 17:37

they are chunky frieda. with a varicose vein on the back of my right calf.

FriedaRoam · 11/06/2011 17:39

but lots of us have chunky legs and veins
gah wear some shorts
what style skrits suit you?

FriedaRoam · 11/06/2011 17:39

i look hot in mine Wink

AtYourCervix · 11/06/2011 17:39

right. where do i get cycling short anti-thigh chafers from then? are they cotton? will i get thrush?

FriedaRoam · 11/06/2011 17:40

right cervix you are making me cross restricting yourself now.

so we agree loose wide leg trews are oK? they are everywhere? you ok for TOPS?
would floaty dresses be ok? will you bare arms?

AtYourCervix · 11/06/2011 17:43

i'd rather not bare anytthing but find it impossible to find a T-dshirt with any longer than a cap sleeve which I hate.
for the last 10 years I have worn black T-shirts with jeans or linen 3/4 lenght trews. I am branching out!

this is lovely

lilolilmanchester · 11/06/2011 17:47

love the skirt libra linked to, am going to try that on... AtYourCervix, I'm a size 14 which I know isn't "that big" but find summer wardrobes really difficult & unflattering. Am going to start another similar thread in support of you, asking for specific links like Libra's - doing that in support of your search, just incase you think I am ignoring this one...

AtYourCervix · 11/06/2011 17:49

that's nice noddy. like that M&S skirt too. i think we're getting somewhere!
