can't wait to get home to get my jimjams on...skirts not so comfy, esp having to wear tights because of frightening legs (as much as the cold)

Very rarely - So rare in fact that DS looked at me 2 Xmas's ago when I was going out to a works do & had a skirt on & black tights & he asked 'Whats on your legs?'

Prob the last time I wore a skirt was last Xmas !

MrsSpoon · 15/11/2005 22:48

Cod, is that a "no" to the braces as well? You could hide them under your clothes and nobody would know?

Parsleypants · 15/11/2005 23:24

cod - will wear the skinny jeans with my Uggs. Yes, know they are out of fashion now but love 'em!

Gobbledigook · 16/11/2005 11:37

Got skirt on today!

Turquoise knee length wool skirt with a sort of brown check on it. Brown argyle patterned tights, brown 'ultracomfy' boots and brown v-neck jumper. I look sooper!

bundle · 16/11/2005 11:38

black canvas straight leg trousers today..sigh..feel much comfier (cod no packed lunches in our house)

Bumblelion · 16/11/2005 11:45

On my days off, I never wear skirts and only sometimes wear them to work (although am wearing one today). If I do wear skirts, I think it is more in winter with tights and boots although if it is very hot in summer I will wear a skirt.

Tamba · 16/11/2005 11:48

I am wearing a skirt again today!!! (only cause my dorothy perkins order arrived this morning!)

Cod would hate what i was wearing today, its like something off the new arrivals river island thing she links too

Boots (furry ones) brown stripy tights, brown short cord skirt, cream long steeved top and one of those white furry waist coat thingies - the joys of online shopping!!!!!

crunchie · 16/11/2005 11:56

I wear skirts when I go to meetings, trs when I don't - or rather Jeans. So I guess once or twice a week I do skirts. Usually full and just below knee with kneww high boots stm. I have a black outfit and a brown one (boots to match each) plus a long gypsy style skirt I am still wearing as it is taffeta, so I am not doing tights, as the boots cover the legs

When I do tights it has been fishnets (either nude or black mini holes though) for the last couple of years, I saw some lovely teal ones in NEW LOOK at teh weekend I fancied

JoolsToo · 16/11/2005 18:37

bloody hell gobble have you won the pools or wot?

marthamoo · 16/11/2005 18:42

Love skirts, hate tights. I generally take the tights off when I'm back in for the day. Most of my skirts are long and a bit swishy (just bought a dark green corduroy one in Per Una) but I've got some short ones (knee length, not mini!) too. I don't feel self-conscious in a long skirt but that's probably because I wear one quite often. Have to be having a good day for a short skirt though (and I do have good legs, even though I say so myself).

philippat · 16/11/2005 19:26

I wear skirts or dresses all the time, only own 2 pairs of trousers and no jeans.

I wear opaque tights autumn through spring, mostly brown or aubergine, occasionally black. If I want to 'dress up' I will very occasionally make the effort to shave my legs and wear 10 denier but they go straight in the bin at the end of the night as washing always snags them.

I find the secret with tights is you have to try lots of different ones to get the ones that suit your shape. And paying less than £5 a pair usually works out as less value for money as well as tending to be less comfy. I find M&S no good at all for tights. Once you've found the right make, buy up EVERYTHING in your size.

Summer no tights and pretty sandals with heels.

bundle · 17/11/2005 13:39

have dress on today, transformed with inclusion of leggings (it is a long dress, so don't shriek) instead of tights. much comfier/warmer

emmabiscool · 17/09/2006 02:51

I wear skirts all the time. My husband doesn't like the idea of women in trousers - he says it's cross-dressing.... Plus dd can't wear trousers for school, so it'd be hypocritical of me to do so...

eidsvold · 17/09/2006 07:11

hardly ever - did wear them with suit at work but still preferred trousers.

Wearing a long denim one a fair bit at the moment but it is a maternity one - otherwise - jeans/capri pants.

eidsvold · 17/09/2006 07:11

tend to wear more dresses than skirts if I wear anything like that.

Miaou · 17/09/2006 07:50

I hadn't worn skirts for years - I am very self-conscious about my legs and so lived in trousers. Then I bought a long full skirt in the summer and wore it with sandals and loved it - no need to worry about my legs as they didn't show, but much more comfy than trousers! I then made myself a full panel skirt and I really like that one too. I shall wear them both in the winter with tights once I get my shoes (my old pair fell to bits and I have been living in my walking shoes and sandals since May but am getting some nice shoes next week - yipeee!!)

Gingerbear · 17/09/2006 07:55

hmm, I have just done a search, and emmabiscool has revived 7 old threads, all on the topic of flashing knickers, underwear, and weather girls should wear skirts to school................
If you are genuine, I apologise, but it seems stange that someone's first posts on mumsnet should be about such topics.

Miaou · 17/09/2006 07:58

Oh I hadn't noticed they were all old ones .... did think it was a bit weird that there were so many threads about skirts/trousers in active convos!!

hermykne · 17/09/2006 07:59

gingerbear - good dectective work this am !

i wear skirts alot but what drives me mad
coming into the winter is the thought of tights

i need to get some really comfy ones, dh alaways has a good laugh at me putting them on and hoking them up round my waist if they are slightly tight or not sitting right, i think its do with the skin after a shower is slightly damp......

Northerner · 17/09/2006 09:10

I probably wear more skirts in winter actually. I love patterned and coloured tights and nice winter boots.

I also love little girls in stripy tights and shiny patent leather trenfy boots, sigh, perhaps it's because I have no daughter I covet the girls shoes/boots whenever I'm in Clarks!

motherinferior · 17/09/2006 12:11

Ginger, I've noticed that too. And risen to the bait, embarrassingly enough.
