How do I persuade my friend out of one dress and into another?

BF is getting married and wants this dress. honeypieboutique.co.uk/ourshop/prod_651001-Audrey.html

She is a size 18/20, busty and with big arms (she also has that red, bumpy skin people moan about). She doesn't have much of a waist.

I think she looks best with a v-neck or sweetheart neckline, and something fitted under the bust rather than to the waist.

Can anyone help me find something wonderful for her that will make her look and feel her best? Budget is up to £1,000 (lucky her), she is about 5'8", dark blonde hair and enviably dark-blue eyes. Wedding is in October at a country-house hotel.

Equally, if you think I am being a right cow feel free to point it out. Smile

That is a lovely dress, drivingmissdaisy . And the gloves and tiara idea is brilliant. Grin

I love the shape of this one tethers linked to www.20thcenturyfoxy.com/en/product/177

I was going to link to the Lacey dress but tethersend beat me to it, by some margin Grin. It is lovely though, looks like it might suit your friend and she could channel some Princess Kate, what with all the lace Wink.

Your friend's original dress would have looked lovely on Audrey Hepburn, but not on a normal mortal; never mind one with bosoms!

Anything with a low neck is an improvement (another big bust sufferer here). The cap sleeve look and 50's style is great but could be done with a long pencil /kickflare skirt instead, or the ballerina length skirt.

see dresses here- especially the bottom picture. She could have one made to measure or copied in the style. Or google for "bombshell dress", I've been looking at these

With the right underwear she could look gorgeous. At least she is breaking away from the strapless trend.

So emotional, wedding dresses though, you are brave to get involved - good luck to you both!

Other 50's style dresses on that site would suit her though - the ones with more shaping around the bust. Can she order a few and try them on, then send back the ones she doesn't like? I suspect when she tries it on she may not like it. Perhaps a sheer wrap around the shoulders might help hide her bumpy arms? And exfloliating and lavishly applying body lotion would also help.

Wednesday13 - that's a lovely site, I love those dresses (speaking as a busty bombshell myself). And those little bolero jackets are gorgeous.

Anything Audrey-Hepburn style should come with a warning, whether its a size 8 or a size 18:

Warning: not suitable for women with boobs

You are a lovely friend. Smile

I went to a wedding a while ago where the bride was wearing a dress that really didn't work on her - we all, obviously, assumed she loved it and intended to look that way. Not so. She got the pictures back and hated it - I think because she'd been dieting down to fit into it she hadn't had time to get used to what it looked like, so when she'd chosen it she was at that stage of thinking 'yay, I lost two stone, I look wonderful in anything!' ... and no-one does, do they?
