Are Fit Flops a fashion crime?

I always avoided them. And then I was bought a pair, and now I don't wear anything else during the day!

I'd always bracketed them with Crocs (comfy but very unstylish). Apart from the fact I have lost the ability to walk in heels and find regular shoes uncomfortable, I have now convinced myself they look OK... but I am concerned I am being swayed by the comfort factor. What do you think?

if your feet are small, get children's ones. half the price and less chunky

ggirl, those are like my Next rip off ones

But hey are just flip flops with a thick soleHmm.

Admiitedly flips flops not always a good look and often worn in inappropriate situations but they have their place.

Asthetically I prefer a thicker soled flip slop as the thinner ones just look too beachy (which is Ok f you are on a beach oviously) but less so for walking to school on a hot day.

My MIL had the bronze sequin pair on hols last year. In the airport on the way back I then counted LOADS of other MIL-types in the sequin ones - you know, trying to be fashionable but comfortable

Its the low cut toe post style I cant stand

And the sequins......

LizHurleysVPL · 17/05/2011 21:14

Not stylish or fashionable - it's the thick sole and the trying too hard to be cool thang.

LaurieFairyCake · 17/05/2011 21:18

They're the only things I wear - Mukluk boots in winter, spangly ones in summer

I had a pair of the sequin silver ones delivered yesterday as I can't find last years (and it's been driving me crazy looking for them)

Dodgy back, curved spine - they are NOT a fashion crime on me as I wear size 3 childrens (slim, pretty feet) so the sole isn't thick - my feet look dainty in anything

My mate wore hers, tripped over thick sole and smashed her front teeth on a lamp post

LizHurleysVPL · 17/05/2011 21:34

See, being healthy and sensible is bad for you.

alfabetty · 18/05/2011 04:17

OK. I will kick the habit. I have had a tripping near-miss or two of the type Cyb describes as the sole is v thick (but oh-so-comfy to walk on).

But I never, ever thought they were cool.... just comfy and largely hidden under trousers... I might keep wearing them under trousers..... Wink

Of course my feet are so big it woudl look like I was shuffling along on a couple of toe post air beds
