Over here all you 40s and fading!

Maiasaurus - take your lump to the doctor Probably nothing, but best to make sure.

I love those little tarry coffees, especially carajillos (?) after lunch with brandy in.

Tweezers are our friends (except when you painfully poke yourself with them due to degenerating eyesight, of course).

KristinaM · 08/05/2011 21:49

yes take lump to GP

re dead roses - might be a different variety, drainage or exposure might be worse there. or you had a rose in that spot before and its rose replant disease. so dont replace it with another rose unless you change the soil

DH still rummagaing around in the basement so not putting me off mumsnetting

Maiasaurus · 08/05/2011 21:56

I know I should, I'm sort of saving it up until I've got 3 or 4 minor niggles and I can go in with a list. Grin

I fancy a Hebe where my rose was. Anyone got a top tip for a low-growing one?

MrsSchadenfreude · 08/05/2011 21:57

I love this thread, with its mad deviations from lack of periods, thin skin, hanging tits etc to gardening, 12 quid chickens (they had one in Monoprix the other week for 35 euros, by the way - DH said, what was it, gold?), with Cocolepew keep popping up and saying "I really am losing weight, you know, and I'm still eating bread." Grin

KristinaM · 08/05/2011 22:06

its a metaphor for our multi tasking lives Grin

you forgot kerry muttering about what a bad mood she's in and boasting about her hot DH who's up for it day and night [sigh]

have you noticed we have kicked the Style and Beauty ass of the Wise and Avid gals? Wink

I'm confused. (Altzeimers) Why do we keep discussing planting suggestions for shady areas? I'm sure the answer is in the thread somewhere but I'm too lazy important and busy to go though 20 odd pages or whatever. someone just tell me please.

MrsSchadenfreude · 08/05/2011 22:16

I've had a lovely day (not). Had to collect DD2 v early indeed from a sleepover as she had been throwing up all night. Picked her up and she has been bitten on her eyelid and her eye is swollen nearly shut (she also has her wrist in a splint from a climbing frame and running away from teacher incident earlier in the week). DD1 started her periods today (I came on too), and thought she had shit herself, poor child, as the blood was dark brown rather than the expected red. Not impressed at the thought of sanitary towels, or indeed, tampons, and distressed that she might not be able to go swimming on holiday. Cat is being lovely, though, and has been giving me the Paw of Sympathy all day.

kc0rns1lk · 08/05/2011 22:21

bless dd! how old is she? what's the paw of sympathy BTW!?

pointydog · 08/05/2011 22:29

I was depressed on Monday having finally weighed myself after hols away. And I have lost 3lb already. I am on fire.

But currently eating mini toffee crisp clusters. Not good.

pointydog · 08/05/2011 22:31

Not so keen on the hagsnet. I'm not that bad.

wilbur · 08/05/2011 22:34

Dear God, I just finished reading the article about sugar that was linked to on the previous thread. Whilst finishing some rather delish mini florentines. I have recently given up sugar in tea (it was sooo hard, I have such a sweet tooth) but now I clearly have to deal with other sugar-related issues. V interesting though, about metabolic syndrome and heart disease and cancer. Interesting but not uplifting.

wilbur · 08/05/2011 22:35

pointydog - you are if you do Mrs Schadenfreude's mirror trick. Yikes.

pointydog · 08/05/2011 22:38

I don;t think I want to know what the mirror trick is.

I was in marks tring on bras today and had to spend rather a long time looking at my remarkably flabby torso in three way mirrors.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 08/05/2011 22:46

What's with all these periods?! Mine started on Thursday (first one since Christmas). Must be all this hormonal talk - we're getting synchronised like - you know - young girls who live together at college. Or not.

Anyway, still time to give DD a little sister Hmm.

Planted six pinks today, bought them two weeks ago but couldn't put it off any longer so caved and weeded the pile of crumbling stones rockery at the same time. And watered the hedge we planted a few weeks ago. (English exotic mixed native, iye).

Also sprayed the wild strawberries with bramble killer. < evil cackle >

WhatsWrongWithYou · 08/05/2011 22:48

Run away from M&S bras very fast, pointy. Thought everyone on MN knew they were crap.

MrsSchadenfreude · 08/05/2011 23:23

Paw of Sympathy involves cat sitting next to me, giving me pussy smiles, with his huge paw on my leg. He taps my leg every so often, and gives me another pussy smile and all's right with the world. [mad old cat woman]

DD1 is 12. Glad she got this far; two of her friends started at 8 and 9.

M & S measured me and told me I was a 42B. I went to Rigby and Peller the next day and they fitted me and told me I was a 38F and to take my new bra straight back to M & S. The R & P bra lifted them up where they belonged. The M & S bra merely covered them with a bit of fabric.

thenightsky · 08/05/2011 23:38

the odd M&S bra is ok, as long as you know your size and don't use the staff there.

They currently have some tempting retro looking long line ones which I hope may rein in the back flab (God that sounds awful). But my local branch has sold out.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 08/05/2011 23:47

I tried that; am 30G and found a couple of bargain t-shirt bras in there - thrilled. Until I'd worn them for an hour and they gaped bizarrely at the front, and generally sagged. Grim.

CointreauVersial · 09/05/2011 00:09

Sorry, I'm an M&S girl through and through. I do need to get re-measured, though; I'm still wearing the same undies from before I lost weight. The bra cups are now tragically underfilled, and I have to keep hitching my knickers up.

Hahahaha kerry... every cloud and all that!

Blackduck · 09/05/2011 06:29

I finally admitted that a 34cwasn't doing the job, and am now wearing a 32DD - I am depressed. Is no-one going to take me up on sausage roll/cake offer PLEASE otherwise I may have to eat them....

bigTillyMint · 09/05/2011 08:16

32DD - why is that depressing?

herbaceous · 09/05/2011 08:33

Indeed - surely it means less back fat, and more boobage? Or have you managed to scoop the former into the latter?

Feel like a young person again today. In that we had some people round for dinner and I got accidentally drunk. Then woke up at 5 and couldn't go back to sleep.

It was a great evening, though, with my oldest pals. One of whom works on a cosmetics mag and brought me a bag of freebie goodies, including a bottle of Gucci Guilty. Hugely flash bottle, and smells mighty fine, too. Result.
