Want to look GOOD by June 4th - that's just over a month. Please share your weight loss and toning tips

Back story is that I have just tried a week of pig to twig (Atkins type diet)

I feel horrific and haven't lost any weight. Kind of feel faint and my head feels very odd and I cannot face it any more. Just ate some boiled potatoes with olive oil and feel a bit stronger. I just don't think that diet is for me. I also slept very badly on it.

But... I want to look better in a month than I do now!

Despite moving house and working full time and having two DDs, I will try to find the time to do the 30 day shred plus I do walk 15 mins each way before getting on bus to the office. I wear MBTs even though they look horrible.

But it's the diet side of things that I get stuck on... If I deny myself something I then fantasise about it. I actually eat very healthily, and cook everything from scratch, don't have diet coke cravings or eat many sweet things. I get low blood sugar moments and have low blood pressure so anything too extreme and I faint or get ill (sounds very dramatic, maybe I'm just a wuss)...

Please share your successful dieting tips. I am 69 kilos and 5'6". I would like to be 59-60 kilos. I was 56 kilos before having DD1. Bloody hell.

Ive cancelled my shred - just done the jillian michaels 'Banish Fat Boost Metabolism' I am 7 and a half stone and have done work out dvds on and off for the last 13 years but omg that was hard! I like the fact it is broken down into circuits so you could just pick 1 or 2 to do but think doing it all in one go would give better results. Despite feeling like I was going to blackout and vomit it had some great moves. Not entirely sure I could do it every day, certainly not for the faint hearted!

Ooh we can be Shred buddies Bringhome as I just did day one too.

I am only a few pounds lighter (but am probably shorter Grin) and have a similar aim.

moonface73 · 09/05/2011 23:22

Did my first day on level two afer six on level one. Blimey.

carolemiddleclasston · 10/05/2011 09:29

Right here goes for day 2.
I am a little worried about getting injured - surely 30 days of this without a break is a recipe for injuries?

bossyboop · 10/05/2011 11:48

Not as sore today as what I thought, challenged dh to try it at the weekend, jillian certainly makes you work hard, blimey!

MeMudmagnet · 10/05/2011 11:49

I'm doing my second week on level 1. I'm missing weekends, and doing extra long, brisk walks instead. I do feel better for doing it.
Just trying to get my diet under control now and cut down on the carbs.

carolemiddleclasston · 10/05/2011 11:51

Me I think I will do that too as that should fend off injuries. Or I might do Sundays and Wednesdays off.

I love the way, as others have said, when you start getting fed up, it's nearly the end anyway.

Did fine today - I found the final cardio round a bit tough but it was okay. I have been exercising recently though so that helps.
Not sure I'm doing the abs bit right as it doesn't work me hard enough. Again possibly as I've been doing tons of abs work recently (with little effect!) so maybe I will do some extra in the evenings.

blossoming · 10/05/2011 12:23

Blast off Belly Fat is good for extra toning - no cardio though, so no sweating. Can be done any time you have a spare 10 minutes.

bossyboop · 10/05/2011 14:03

I fancied trying that blossoming

Bellebelle · 10/05/2011 14:41

Lost 2lbs, the running is obv working just need to get toning. Going to give play.com until the end of the week to get The Shred back in stock, will pay the extra for it from Amazon if not.

Everytime I'm out running and go past any reflective surface all I can see is my jiggly belly!

bossyboop · 10/05/2011 14:53

I've got a jiggly bum which feels uncomfortable when I run, only a size 8 fgs but it is big, you can see it from space Grin

I am planning on doing it tonight and will really HAVE to now you've done it! Which is a good thing.

I heard 10 days on each level is the plan but it varies. I might move up at 7 days (if I make it that far Grin)

I am indeed shorter than you...only a bit though. I'd like to find my clothes are very loose and then I can buy new ones. I've got a personal shopping session booked at the end of the month so that's a good incentive.

Bellebelle · 11/05/2011 23:05

Bringinghomethebacon It was only £5 with free delivery from Play too but I couldn't find it on Amazon for some reason. Does not matter now though as just recieved an email to say it's on it's way!

Really hoping for good results, DH pointed out today that I'm developing quite a toned stomach from the running and he's right, just need to shift the fatty bit at the bottom which I guess will go with all over weight loss iyswim.

Random question but I'm in London for next couple of days staying right behind Selfridges. Taking my running gear for an earlyish run in Hyde Park on Friday morning. Anyone know if its safe? I won't be out until it's light and I take it that there will be loads of other runners out and about?

carolemiddleclasston · 11/05/2011 23:22

Day 3 done!
Might move to level 2 soon as I was doing aerobics and some occasional personal training before this so it's not that tough. I might regret saying this if level 2 is really tough...

notyummy · 12/05/2011 07:42

Belle- there will be loads of people there and you will be fine.

DoingTheBestICan · 12/05/2011 08:28

I have just ordered the shred from amazon as you have all inspired me to shift my fat bum into gear.

I am going to cut back on carbs & try to avoid bread all together.

Looking forward to actually doing something about my body instead of just wishing i could do something about it.

Bellebelle · 12/05/2011 09:15

Thanks notyummy

My hat is off to anyone who manages to give up bread, I think I managed to do it once for a week, missed toast too much.

HazedandConfused · 12/05/2011 09:34

Well my Shred arrived last night so I should probably try and do it tonight, am dreading it though, please tell me I will survive Grin

blossoming · 12/05/2011 09:47

You will feel great afterwards hazed!

The Biggest Loser Beach Body Blitz book encourages eating wheat free toast.
I'm attempting a 2 week wheat ban and made spelt bread on Monday. Sliced into 1oz slices and bagged in freezer. Makes lovely toast with marmite!
Will be great with scrambled eggs, or, lemony smoked haddock (suggested breakfast from book).

carolemiddleclasston · 12/05/2011 10:50

I will never ever give up toast. It brightens my morning.

I swear my stomach seemed flatter when I woke this morning and I've only done Shred three times (although I was doing abs exercises a few times a week for the last few weeks). Am I going mad and imagining it could be making a difference already?

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 12/05/2011 12:22

bellebelle/carole , I find the problem isn't that people miss toast itself, they miss what they put on the toast - which is often the source of the calories as well. i.e. toast is boring but slather that (white) piece of toast in real butter and jam and I am salivating.

carolemiddleclasston · 12/05/2011 12:33

In fact, I might just go and make some for 'lunch' Grin Damn you for making it sound so appealing!
