Is Camilla a midget? Gees, she looks as short as I am (5ft., 3in).

expatinscotland · 30/04/2011 02:04

As for Sarah Burton, LOSER. You ripped off Grace Kelly's dress except for the slight v-neck and buttons. A princess who also died in a car crash. And you're supposed to be original? Ding dong!

kittya · 30/04/2011 12:23

All designers are influenced by the past, dont be too harsh on her!! Kate might have done research of her own and said she wanted a dress similiar to Grace Kelly's. Also, the bottom half could be completely different.

What did everyone think of the going away outfit a bit old fashioned and did I spot tan tights? She did look all beamy still

HipposGoBeserk · 30/04/2011 12:47

What was the going away outfit?

Gahh, I can't keep up. My children keep needing to be fed and cleaned and stuff. They don't respect my Royal Wedding needs.

meditrina · 30/04/2011 12:53

I'll look for a pic and link when I find one. It was a short greyish blue dress, with a little fitted black jacket (quite similar to things she's worn before), with wedges.

And a rather obvious droop to the hemline at the front.

smartyparts · 30/04/2011 12:55

I think she should have worn something slinkier for the evening do - she has a fabulous figure she should show it off. She would have looked amazing in a fluid column type dress - this looked just like the day dress with a cardi, it was a bit meh imo.

Her sister looked amazing in both her dresses, shame she was a bit too mahogany!

Kate's obviously utterly sensible in all her sartorial choices. I do believe I spotted tea coloured tights in her going away outfit!

ceebeegeebies · 30/04/2011 13:22

Why is her going-away dress longer at the front - looked odd to me Hmm

meditrina · 30/04/2011 13:47

Picture of going away outfit about halfway down this BBC article.

kerstina · 30/04/2011 14:10

Just shows you will never please everyone. The day dress would not have been my choice as I am not keen on lace but I understand she had to keep her arms covered. I loved the Queen mothers wedding dress so simple but stunning . I did like Kates evening dress glad she made the most of wearing a beautiful white dress. Loved the sparkly belt and even the fluffy cardiganSmile.
As for some of the other guests it made me not mind so much about being poor. Money certainly does not buy a good sense of style and taste !

"It's pretty but a bit dull. I think she should have gone for something like Pippa wore for the ceremony."

Yes, so did I.

Bellebelle · 30/04/2011 18:46

The going away dress looks very like a dress I have from Zara. Anyone know where it's from?

kerstina · 30/04/2011 19:37

Think it was the same designer who made the day dress so doubt its Zara. Susan Burton but may have got name wrong.

kerstina · 30/04/2011 19:38

Sarah Burton I mean.

Tsil · 30/04/2011 19:57

Expat - Sarah burton is a fantastic designer you only have to look at the recent collections from McQueen to see this but kate's dress was a collaboration between Kate and the designer so you don't know whose idea the grace kellyesqueness of the dress was.

Also the dress has to be timeless, this is a wedding that will be remembered years from now it could not be something that is in 'fashion' at the moment but not next year. Plus there are royal protocols on the dress as well.

expatinscotland · 30/04/2011 20:46

Oh, yeah? Well, Pippa's dress was a rip-off of Caroline Bessette Kennedy's dress with a different neckline. Was she going for a theme here - 'royal' brides who carked in crashes?

You may think she's fantastic, I don't.

Bellebelle · 01/05/2011 23:40

I knew it, it is from Zara!

Doubt anyone else is interested but me Grin but I'm stupidly chuffed.

But does that mean lots of people are going to buy it?

Hmmm...

kartell · 02/05/2011 12:03

the blue going away dress is Issa - she's worn it before to a wedding.
Car crash comment - bad taste I think.
Loved the dresses - all of them - but did think the angora cardigan was more Monsoon than McQueen...

kartell · 02/05/2011 12:10

does look like zara though, I may have been misinformed!

Bellebelle · 02/05/2011 23:13

Lots of websites were saying Issa at first but that dress was a more vibrant blue. Confirmed in The Mail that it was the Zara one.

Didn't like the angora cardigan but reckon it would have been taken off once away from the cameras.
