How much does you hair cut cost?

DooinMeCleanin · 16/04/2011 11:11

Mine is £60 for cut, blowdry, bleach slices and a temporary colour over the bleach (Fudge colour Box) and a conditioning treatment.

DH is in a paddy. He cancelled our card so I couldn't get the money to get it done. He hasd now 'allowed' me to have £40 Angry.

This is how much a haircut should cost in his opinion.

£60 for all that is pretty reasonable.

Mine costs nothing as I cut my own hair. I dye it to cover grey and get the Clairol Perfect 10 stuff on offer - I stock up then - 2 for a tenner.

bellavita · 16/04/2011 11:15

To have it just cut, it costs £27.50.

For half a head of colour (eg when the parting needs doing) and I have a permanent colour put on this and extra streaks through and some red slices to brighten that bit back up - around £45 - this includes the cut and blow.

For a full head of the above with a cut and blow it is more like £65.

DH cannot moan at me as he pays £15 every 3 weeks.

bellavita · 16/04/2011 11:16

Your DH needs to get over it btw Grin

LIZS · 16/04/2011 11:16

£35-40, cut and blow dry

trice · 16/04/2011 11:19

'£19 with a groupon voucher. Have you checked out hairdressing schools or asked about the trainee price at your hairdresser? If you can't afford £60 every six weeks you have to make a compromise.

DooinMeCleanin · 16/04/2011 11:21

trice I have compromised. My hairdressers, who I used from being 15 years old until I met Dh when I was 23 costs £150 to get the above done. I have compromised a lot. We can afford it and I get it done once every two months, the colour I only get done if I am actually going somewhere, otherwise it is £50 for the roots and trim.

If you work tell him to F off. As long as household bills are paid what has it got to do with him?.

I paid £50 for just a cut and blow dry.

If he is the only wage earner you need to skim a bit off the housekeeping every week. And never tell him again how much it costs. They don't need to know.

My DH thinks my hair costs £30.

bishboschone · 16/04/2011 11:35

My friend does mine but if I had it done at the local salon it would cost £150 . I have shoulder length thick curly hair that I get cut and highlighted. I can't really understand how they can get away with this cost as its only a village salon but they like to think they are posh!

I have 'reduced' my hair bill the other year. It was £55 for a cut ( I do admittedly have masses of wavy impossible hair) and I had a few highlights in the front and it cost £95.00. Ridiculous. Wonderful hairdresser but I couldn't afford him any longer. I was taking extended unpaid maternity leave.

I tried a few places. Not impressed, they didn't like my hair cos it's hard work.

A new salon opened up nearby my house. So not paying city centre prices. I still see the top stylist but it is £26.00 a cut and I had highlights and a semi-permanent with cut for a total of £49.00. And they get my impossible hair and encourage me to love it too.

monkeyplayszeebongos · 16/04/2011 11:50

£20 once every five months or so, i think longer hair is easier to maintain and don't particularly like 'fashion' haircuts

NettoSuperstar · 16/04/2011 11:51

I cut my own and spend £4-£5 every six weeks or so on a dye.
DD's is £9 every three months and they trim her fringe for free in between.

I used to cut DD's but it's got so thick now it needs layers and thinning out and I can't do that myself.

Meggles76 · 16/04/2011 13:16

I have a jaw length bob and is costs £98 for a cut, full head of highlights and a blow dry. I go once every couple of months. DH thinks it is an outrageous amount to spend but I work, and the bills are paid, so I just laugh at him.

purpleknittingmum · 16/04/2011 13:20

I think it is under £20 for a wash cut and blow dry, very rarely get it coloured

Me and my daughter get our trims at the same time and I think the total is about £23, she just gets a dry trim

bellavita · 16/04/2011 15:28

I once asked DH how much he thought my cut and blow cost (no colouring) - he said somewhere in the region of £50! - Clueless I tell ya!!

He would never ever dare say I couldn't spend money on my hair Grin

needcoffee1982 · 16/04/2011 16:25

i pay £53 at my local hairdressers for half head highlights and a trim every couple of months and i think thats alot!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 16/04/2011 16:28

Just had it done today. £108 Cut, gloss colour and half head highlights. Plus a treatment as it was like straw!

MissMarjoribanks · 16/04/2011 16:28

Just got back from the hairdressers - £83 for half head highlights, cut and blow dry from the salon manager. I normally have the stylist do it and it's about £70 but she wasn't available and I needed to slot in at short notice.

Very reasonable for round here - before I changed salons to the lovely place I go now, I was paying more than £100.

sethstarkaddersmackerel · 16/04/2011 16:30

£26. My neighbour who is a hairdresser does it, she's very good.

I still hate haircuts though, am thinking of getting dh to do it with the clippers. He does the kids and has displayed a surprising talent for it.

QuickLookBusy · 16/04/2011 16:35

Mine is £90 for cut, roots and blow dry.

And Fluffy do you live in the 1950sGrin
"If you work tell him to sod off. If he is the only wage earner you need to skim a bit off the housekeeping every week"

Wha ever their work situaltion DH should not be telling Dooin how much she spends on a hair cut. She has already said they can afford it.

Jdore · 16/04/2011 16:36

£90 for cut, full tint and blow dry. Used to go every 6 weeks but now stretch it to 8 weeks.
I might try and colour it myself again though, with the clairol foam colour.

schroeder · 16/04/2011 16:39

£30 for a trim, no colour (yet)

tbh £60 for colour and treatments sounds pretty reasonable.

why is your dh flipping out about it?
Do you need to count your pennies at the moment for some reason?

DooinMeCleanin · 16/04/2011 16:45

Yes we can afford it. It the fact that he thinks £60 is excessive and not that we don't have £60.

OP posts:
FAB5 · 16/04/2011 16:50

I had wash, cut and blow dry today and it was £48.

Your DH is being a bully.

QuickLookBusy · 16/04/2011 16:52

Why is he deciding how much you are allowed to spend on your hair?
