Have we had a thread to guess Kate's dress yet?

I'm so excited. I don't give a stuff about the pomp and ceremony and I won't be waving any flags or doing 'knees up Mother Brown' with my neighbours but I really want to talk about the dress. I think I know in my head what it will be like and I hope she doesn't let me down. It needs to be just the right amount of elegant/trad/plain, but with a cheeky soupcon of sexpot.

Let's play guess Katie's dress please.

I think her engagement dress was absolutely spot on and suited her - she suits pretty plain, fitted stuff I think.

You are right re very heave duchesse satin actually.

I love the Plum Sykes Alexander mcQueen wedding dress - here - this would suit Kate however with sleeves and a less corset like bodice.

GetOrfMoiLand · 02/04/2011 20:55

I want to get married in somewhere tropical with one of those Amanda Wakely frocks.

GetOrfMoiLand · 02/04/2011 20:57

I bloody LOVE royal weddings Blush

I remember pretending to be ill at the age of 8 so I could stay off school to watch Fergie and Andrew.

Mind you, I remember that Fergie had S and A embroidered on the train of her dress, even at that age I thought that was naff.

Too young to remember Charles and Diana.

She will not wear bright white and it will not be strapless. Not a chance. i'm really struggling to find any nice linkies. Sad

A massive pink cloudy meringue with 40 underskirts and a Swarovski diamante barbie emblem on her arse, a light up nork bit, and spilt right up one side to show off her pants.

ValiumSoltera · 02/04/2011 21:32

Absolutely, Getorf, it'll be ALL about the waist. Her waist. Very fitted, a bit forties, very simple.

Do her arms have to be covered? is that the 'rule' or the .... expectation?

Meglet · 02/04/2011 21:32

I read rumors that Sarah Burton (new head at Mcqueen) might have the job.

It won't be Galliano for obvious reasons and didn't Westwood poo-poo the idea?

or this mcqueen but with full length at the front and some embroidery to give it more impact. The back is good.

GetOrfMoiLand · 02/04/2011 21:49

I hope it's not strapless. Even very slim women seem to end up with that hideous underarm/side of bosom bulge!

oooh yes I totally agree - me and Fellatio said the very same thing couple of months back.

You can be whippet thin and still have that unsightly armpit wrinkle. Why choose that style when there will be 100s of photos taken?

OrangeBernard · 02/04/2011 21:50

That mcqueen one is too similar to Dianas

GetOrfMoiLand · 02/04/2011 21:52

I think long sleeves will be more classy.

Also it is in April so it may well be freezing and/or pissing it down.

At long bloody last - I'm finding some stuff worth posting

here

FellatioNelson · 02/04/2011 22:38

I've posted this before here I just love it. It's too simple informal for a royal dress though.

FellatioNelson · 02/04/2011 22:52

Those Maggie Sottero ones are beautiful, fellatio. The first one especially with the gathered waist and lacy sleeves would suit Kate beautifully.

There are hardly any dresses with sleeves - I wonder why?

MrsSeanBean · 02/04/2011 22:59

My money's on something like this

FellatioNelson · 02/04/2011 23:01

God I bloody hope not. It's like a nightie and dressing gown combo.

OP posts:
GetOrfMoiLand · 02/04/2011 23:01

I hope not Sean - I think it is too frumpy for Kate tbh.

GetOrfMoiLand · 02/04/2011 23:02

Grin I was just about to type 'she may as well wear her dressing gown and be done with it'
