Ants- I saw that top in store and thought it looked good. I think Fleecy may have already linked to it?

Also love the stripey maxi

Hope DS is better soon Bloss.

notyummy · 12/04/2011 21:52

Yes. Very twee.

Not as bad as the woman who I saw today whilst out running. She was also also out running..... In a low cut top and push up bra. Buxom bar maid cleavage literally about to leap out of her top. WTF??

notyummy · 12/04/2011 22:14

People who are looking for pleated maxis or midis, have a look at the Pretaportobello site. Struggling to link because on iPhone, but look under 'bottoms'- they have a few really nice ones.

happilyeverafter · 13/04/2011 00:42

Popping on briefly to say hi wise and avid ladies. I am very busy with work/life/training but do manage a quick lurk now and then. Have purchased Lottas (wise) based on recs here rather than hasbeens, should be delivered tomorrow. Hope everyone is well and remaining stylish in this unpredictable weather.

AntPants1 · 13/04/2011 07:30

Hello happily

Thanks for feedback on kimono top. Will try on in RL and report back. I thought it would be useful for the evening on summer holiday when it gets a bit chilly and would be a change from the ubiquitous pashmina!

wideawakenurse · 13/04/2011 08:41

Ants - I am sure I have seen that kimono jacket with a black background in there. Think it would be a difficult piece to pull off though. However, as you know, I was caught wearing 'Mum going out uniform' of jeans, nice top and heels in a Brick lane recently. Therefore, I would strongly advise you to take my advice with a pinch of salt. Grin

Grey, miserable day here...perfect for my day off. Boring clothes of khaki skinnies, white t-shirt and tan flats.

However, I am on a healthy eating mission, mainly fuelled by those J brands. Also, DH has just organised for us to spend 2 nights in Edinburgh with friends over the Easter period. We will be in Cumbria anyway, visiting MIL and will plan to leave DS with her for 2 nights.

Very complex clothes situation coming on I suspect, as Edinburgh weather can be changeable. Friends are also super trendy, sans enfants people. (Can you detect a theme with DH's friends...)

Any ideas for me: 2 evening outfits, and day two suitable for Edinburgh?

blossoming · 13/04/2011 09:52

I've just realised I have no idea what people without kids wear. Heels? I would look for style inspiration on NAP wideawake, but I don't think I'd veer very far from skinnies, flats, warm layers and trench for day then skinnies, 'top', blazer, necklace and super high heels for evening.

Anyone see maternity houlihans in Times style section today? At Blossom for £267.

Fleecy · 13/04/2011 10:18

Hello everyone, haven't had time to catch up but will try to do so this evening - just popping in to say carciofi if you want some skinny khakis on the cheap H&M have some for £25. I picked a pair up on Sunday and they're quite nice.

Yes I did link to the kimono top - I am still looking to buy one also as a useful cover up, something to chuck on over jeans and a vest or a tank dress in summer, but the one I want has sold out so I have saved a search on eBay. Fingers crossed.

Glad to hear everyone's been having lovely trips away.

My non-mum friends dress pretty much the same as my mum friends!

wideawakenurse · 13/04/2011 10:27

Decision made, J brands going back. Was worth a try, but think it's best to spend the £8 on returning. They are pretty tight and no where near as comfortable as my black ones.

FritziGreenEyes · 13/04/2011 13:23

I'm thinking about getting this bag, poor woman's Bottega Veneta Wink.

happilyeverafter · 13/04/2011 13:29

Has anyone tried any spring/summer white co. dresses? I am tempted by the Empire maxi in navy, the vest dress and the kimono cardi, need to decide as go on holiday at weekend! Recommendations welcomed wise ladies i suit navy/grey/cobalt and empire styles.

happilyeverafter · 13/04/2011 13:30

Great bag Fritzi!

Emo76 · 13/04/2011 14:38

fritzi Ich like!

bloss I reckon the maternity houlihans might fit me....!

considering a mulberry postmans lock clutch - this one is the branding a bit obvious, I mean iI know it doesn't have Mulberry written on it but it is pretty obvious where it is from. I am not big on brands per se so wondered what you lot think.

Fleecy · 13/04/2011 15:36

I like both bags - fritzi's and emo's.

I have two Bayswater pouches, one leopard print and one purple, and they have the same closure. I like them, don't find them too OTT and a lot of high street bags use it now too, like this

FritziGreenEyes · 13/04/2011 15:48

happily I have the empire maxi in navy and plan to wear it a lot once it is a bit warmer. Have a great holiday!

emo I'm not a big Mulberry fan but I don't like golden hardware on bags regardless of the brand. The red is great though!

wideawake Wise decision to return Houlis if you are not really sure. I got really annoyed with the flaps on the pockets sticking out. Sales assistant said I could just iron them down, but it didn't work so I sewed them down and it looks so much better. Second bloss's recommendations for stylish weekend wardrobe. I would pack a dress for evening too, or is that too formal?

We are invited to a friend's 40th birthday party on Saturday and I thought I could wear my MOAMU dress. Talked to some people who are also invited and they were mentioning that they might wear jeans (and that doesn't mean indigo skinny but faded bootcut). What to do? I don't want to stand out as being too dressed up but I hardly go out these days and want to look nice. Maybe I could wear the dress with leather jacket instead of fake fur and ballet flats instead of high heels Hmm.

blossoming · 13/04/2011 16:12

I loved your moamu outfit fritzi. I hate it qhenboeople don't get into the spirit of things. I think you should lead the way. Better overdressed I say!

OP posts:
wideawakenurse · 13/04/2011 16:29

Frtizi Houli's not going back, it's a pair of ink skinnies that I bought. Blush at my growing J brand collection. That bag is lovely by the way, great colour. I agree about the leather jacket. My pleather one is great for dressing stuff down. I say go for it.

Am going to have a review of wardrobe tonight and put together list of clothing.

Emo That is a great bag, but I see what you mean about it being obvious. What about something like this Anya You could use as a clutch and a cross over bag.

MarshaBrady · 13/04/2011 16:29

Nooo your outfit was so lovely Fritzi. Rewear! Ignore the jeanios.

OllieWollieWoo · 13/04/2011 17:02

Yes Fritzi you must wear that lovely dress, it was the perfect party number (or if you still feel unsure what about good ole Janice?)
Emo I like the bag too.
Happily - where are you off to on holiday? I like all the WC stuff you mentioned esp the dress. Wish I had seen the lightweight batwing sweater when it was in stock. After trying on a loose fit jumper in Zara yesterday, I now want one but in blue/grey/taupe to wear with white jeans.

Got Book Club this evening - read book called Snowdrops about an expat living in Moscow - good read and makes be glad to be living here and not there! Host has just sent an email round saying there will be vodka in the spirit of the book - glad I am driving!!!
I've been hearing good things about the When God Was A Rabbit book? Anyone read it?

No other news - had haircut this am, took boys to park this afternoon, made banana bread with DS2 (who weirdly refuses to mash bananas!!!) and did small Amazon order for collection from UK next week (is it sad I am stockpiling books ready for my holiday - in July?!)

pickledsiblings · 13/04/2011 17:41

Zara order arrived after much faffing from TNT. 50% success rate. All the items for DD and DS2 fitted and are staying, all DS1's t shirts are huge and going back (more like 9/10 than 7/8) and I am keeping this green skirt and this linen vest. Their t shirts are sooo long. On the plus side the colours are really lovely and bright and the skirt looks/feels like good quality for the price (although, it would be indecently short on anyone over 5'2" Grin).

Emo, I love the colour of that bag, it would look great with my new skirt.

Fritzi, dressing down the MOAM dress sounds good or you could wear your navy maxi .

pickledsiblings · 13/04/2011 18:02

OWW, enjoy the vodka Smile.
