Probably a stupid question, but how much does a wedding dress cost?

What are the sort of price ranges?

I (stupidly) really, really like one of the Vera Wang ones, but from two seasons ago - would this cost like a million pounds?

I'm trying to find out info online, but struggling, so what are the pricing bands?

TIA

[very boringly drawing up budget for the next 18 months. Yes, I'm that boring organised]

I fell in love with a Jenny Packham dress (Alice - drop waisted with lots of crystals) It was £1400 new, but found a bridal shop selling it with 30% off - so £1050. I then sold it afterwards on one of the secondhand wedding dress sites (cheaper to list than ebay) for £750 - so cost £300 really.

Sold it as I couldn't bear to think it would get ruined in our loft (mice/water/child). And sold it to a lovely tv so I know it will be worn alot and cherished (and i like that it won't be anyone elseswedding dress).

Tried to but one second hand but panicked as I couldn't find one unaltered and time was moving on. However I would look on ebay/secondhand dress sites for sure!

I agree about the sleeves and given that we don't all have Jen Aniston arms it doesn't make any sense... I'm Irish and Vera Wang dresses start at ?8,000 over here, most brides I know seem to spend between ?2,000 and ?2,500, althought I didn't, I got mine in a sample sale for ?500 and got it altered for a further ?100, loved it, you can get a bargain if you keep an eye out, you have plenty of time til your wedding. Good luck!
