Is this it? Is the search over? Have I found my bag....? <heart stops>

I have been looking for a tan shoulder bag big enough to hold my A4 work folder and around £100 for about 35 years. Have started many threads on the subject.

Is this it?

They have one in my local branch so am going to check it out tomorrow...

...Is it shit? Am I suffering from nice bag blindness? 49cms will fit an A4 folder, right? Is it the best bag ever? Or just ok? Too many questions?

Waaaaaaaahhhhhh!

I guess this is not the time to say, it looks like something Hyacinth Bouquet would have.... sorry...

KurriKurri · 07/02/2011 16:45

Do you want honesty? - I don't like the black side bits, - but I'm internationally known for having no taste whatsoever, so that fact might prove it's fabulous. Grin

BunnyLebowski · 07/02/2011 16:47

Hate to say it tethers but that's minging.

The black/brown combo is incredibly dated looking. And the brown doesn't look like a nice tan but more a cheap orangey/brown.

I would advise a continuation of your search. Sorry Sad

KurriKurri · 07/02/2011 16:48

Plus - 49cm is absolutley bloody massive - are you sure that doesn't include the handle? - otherwise you're going to look like a Postie.

cornsilk · 07/02/2011 16:48

sorry but that's nasty

Oh God, it's awful! Sorry! Grin

TallulahDoesTheHula · 07/02/2011 17:09

jesus christ thats the worst bag i've seen in a long time!

GandalfyCarawak · 07/02/2011 17:11

Horrible. Sorry.

overmydeadbody · 07/02/2011 17:13

Honestly, I tihnk it is vile. What a waste of £100.

I made a lovely messenger bag last night, that fits my A4 paperwork and only cost me £12 in materials.

KristinaM · 07/02/2011 17:13

Actually I think it's quite nice

I suspect that nice shiney leather would get scratched easily though

woopsidaisy · 07/02/2011 17:18

I'm not mad about it, to be honest. Sorry.
have you had a peep on [http://www.blondiemania.co.uk/handbags-c-3.html here]]?

woopsidaisy · 07/02/2011 17:19

Pah.

I give up. Blondie Mania.

tethersend · 07/02/2011 17:28

I fucking love MN Grin

Opinions are good, I can't be faffed with sugaring the pill, so if you hate it, keep telling me!

Right- Hyacinth bucket = style queen in my book, so that's good!

Black and tan is dated, but in a good way I thought- most of my stuff is vintage and I think this bag has a nice 70s feel about it.

Can't stand messenger bags, so want something to fit just under my arm.

I need a massive bag- I carry about as much paperwork as a postie, so that look works for me Grin

woopsidaisy, I had a look at blondie mania and I'm sorry to say that I don't like any of them...

BUT

Am open to any other suggestions- those who think it's vile, can you link to anything you like? Give me some ideas?

Thanks all Smile

Oh no it's dreadful.

I'm so sorry Tethers.

It's the chains. Do you wear 'Nautical' stripes and jaunty scarves round your neck?

If so then it's the baby for you, but I hope you don't.

IngridBergmann · 07/02/2011 17:50

You could do worse than try TKMaxx.

I got a nice big bag there. I've never used it as it is too posh and is a shoulder bag. (yes, I know, I shouldn't have bought a shoulder bag).

I need a cross body.

But they have some good stuff sometimes.

KurriKurri · 07/02/2011 17:53

I think you've already decided you want it! You might get away with it if you wear it ironically. Grin

HollyBollyBooBoo · 07/02/2011 17:58

I love it! Although clearly in the minority.

Adair · 07/02/2011 18:00

ooh tethersend, I hoped this was you! Grin

No comment on bag. But then I don't think anyone else would have liked my holy grail bag (ie fits a4 but not massive) - it is black and white houndstooth... v 80s... Here's to individual taste!

Adair · 07/02/2011 18:01

love that Billy Bag one but would it take a4 folder?

moragbellingham · 07/02/2011 18:18

It's out of stock though. Have you rung them yet?
Just tried to b8uy the Oxford bag in the same colourwaySad

tethersend · 07/02/2011 18:21

Ingrid, I keep checking TK Maxx but they never have anything I like. Those bags you linked to made me sick in my mouth are really not to my taste I'm afraid Wink

I am sorry to have to tell you that I do own a nautical striped dress and often wear scarves knotted around my neck. Jauntily.

I hope we can still be friends Grin

Kurri, I fear you may be right.

Holly- Yay!

Adair, so glad you found your bag. I like a bit of 80s. Where did you get it?

tethersend · 07/02/2011 18:22

morag, they have it at my local store and are keeping it for me until tomorrow... which is the Oxford?
