Ugh that skirt is like bacofoil Cake Grin

Zembo please get yourself checked, ideally by ultrasound. I had a lot of complications post mc and it is all very grim Sad but you simply must get it sorted as it will impact on your future pg's etc.

LetThemEatCake · 23/01/2011 21:50

choo you bad lady Grin. I think I have exceeded my quota for sparkly shoes, having acquired 3 pairs in Jan alone!! Blush

Meant to say, love the Davina, think it must look amazing on you.

Right I have big party next Sat and for various reasons I need to look fab, stick thin, glowy etc. So operation beauty queen starts tomorrow. Quite how this will work with Op Lark is anyone's guess. I am however in bed, which is a start. Grin

Ps I love love that Marant skirt!!

eshermummy · 23/01/2011 21:52

Sorry, what I should have said is that untreated these things may affect subsequent pg's/fertility. didn't mean to be unnecesarily alarmist.

Millie1 · 23/01/2011 21:53

Everything, Fritzi and NotYummy Thanks for your replies. I'm going to go and have a look at your suggestions. If necessary we'll just increase our budget as we really do want to be central, not least because DS1 and I are going to Wimbledon one of the days so Dh will be on his own with the other three and the less travelling he has to do with them, the better. Thanks again.

redllamayellowllama · 23/01/2011 22:05

KILDARE - I took my tutor group through from year 9 to 11 and found that the things that worked best were sitting down and planning out their revision timetable with them and talking through their areas of concern/areas they felt confident about. Also, it is a good idea to go through revision strategies and establish which strategies work for your DD - i.e. what kind of learner is she? Some people are more suited to brainstorming, others flash cards, others acronyms. Sometimes the concept of revising for so many exams can feel daunting and they need to be able to talk through it calmly and work out their approach.

The Bitesize websites are really good. If she needs any English-specific bits down the line, let me know and I can recommend some.

Hope this isn't all totally useless. You've probably done all this and are actually trying to get her to sit down and do it. And I can't help with that!

KILDARE4 · 23/01/2011 22:10

Red Thanks for that, am about to pop upstairs and see what she's up to!

Night all!

macmama · 23/01/2011 22:22

Wow so much so catch up on i have been reading for ages and think i have still missed lots.

"Do men yearn for sons as much as women yearn for daughters?"

I think some of them do yes definitely. But not all, and not all women want Dds either. I sometimes hear negative comments about DD's being "difficult" etc people tend to say silly things whatever the case. Personally I did really want DDs I think maybe because as a family we already have 2 DSs (my DSSs). I know DH was stoked to get his girls although for him (and me) of course just having heatlhy child is paramount as I am sure it is for everyone. My DD has 2 DSs I know she would like a DD but she says she doesn't want a 3rd for this reason alone she loves her boys and is ok about having a 3rd if that is what life brings. My mum had 3 Ds before having me (which was after her DS number 2 died) then went on to have my sis then one more of each - it really is chance.

zembo poor you - please get checked over asap!

I actually ordered the asos wedge boots linked to by cake and sent them back, hated them in RL much prefer the look of the Ash ones - but being short I am drawn to a chunky wedge like that. But self imposed shopping ban prevents me buying.

all this talk of more DC - I have shared my thoughts on this before. I have DC2 after what felt like a really long wait to get pg again (2.5 years) in fact its not that long compared to some people, During the time spent FTC (failing to conceive) I totally felt the jealousy when others got pg and I hated myself for it - it was one of the worst bits. Everybody I saw/knew with more than one child appeared a bit smug - ridulous and illogical but thats where my messed up head was at. I know quite a lot of people who have suffered total infertility (how utterly unbearable :() and I always tried to remind myself how lucky I was to have one but I found it hard nevertheless and feel super lucky now to have two and try to be sensitve about my good fortune.

I would love a 3rd child (cant help it! always wanted to recreate my own unbringing) but if it doesn't happen then I won't feel the same loss I would have if I didn't have DD2 as she was my miracle (have even kept the postive HPTS - gross emoticon!). TBH I know that DH is not keen for another, his eldest nearly died at birth and has severe CP and this makes him super stressed about pregnancy, birth etc he hates the whole process and can't relax until his DCs are about 6 months old he always fears the worst is going to happen (and as too many of you on this thread can attest, often it does :(). Plus he feels too old (47 soon) and think he would rather stop at this point but would probably give in if I nagged enough.

macmama · 23/01/2011 22:23

sorry my Dsis has 2 DSs - not my DD Blush

macmama · 23/01/2011 22:26

THe Davina is completely stunning I have shared my like for it before - would love to hear the RL verdict - I would want it for workwear so would be looking for matt fabric.

Have always had really good luck with LK Bennett workwear in the past.

hf128219 · 23/01/2011 22:34

Zembo Oh you poor girl. I hope you get the right treatment/medication.

NY Weekend sounds fab.

Nothing more to add of any wise or avid nature. Usual mad, hectic weekend. Newspapers unread and house a tip!

Sleep tight all! Smile

macmama · 23/01/2011 22:37

Home all weekend with the gorgeous girls - house is a tip! Reaonably social weekend for me. DD had playdate on Friday and his lovely mum came too (supersonic yoga instructor) and they stayed for supper. WIsh I had time for some yoga sessions! Then birthday party after ballet on Saturday and had another mum around for coffee while kids were at party. TOday was quiet though and I really missed DH.

Can't face cleaning tonight maybe I will get up early... Dh gets back for visit on Thursday - yay, can't wait! Plus DD2 turns 1 this week- she is just so scrumptious, she now carries her little Corolle dolly everywhere with her, keeps trying to give it good today the doll was fed rice cakes and pear! Everything and everyone is called "mama" this week. Such a funny little pperson she is adorable.

DD1 is also just wonderful really turning out quite wildly eccentric as she gets older (no surprises it runs in the families) but I love that she is so strong and individual when it would be so easy not to be. We had a "moment" about her bedroom today (total tip!) but she tidied it up well in the end and as always we made up quickly and I lay with her until she went to sleep (both in my room Blush).

Such a lucky mama! SOrry for total non S&B sentimentalism ...

Oh yes those of you looking for SE London book club I would try asking a good bookshop about it. THere is a great one on Bellenden Road Review maybe contact the owner and ask her if she knows any I bet she does.

I would be crap I would never read the books - I do love reading but think my job has got in the way of reading for pleasure so do it very rarely usually just when on holiday.

pickledsiblings · 23/01/2011 23:30

macmama, it's lovely hearing about your girls and great that they are good company for you whilst DH is away

Reine, great cake, did it taste as good as it looked?

mrsjuan, you are a woman on a mission, so are you keeping the HH?

KILDARE, more study (so long as it's effective) = better grades = more choice; tell it to her straight Grin.

Zembo, look after yourself, work can wait I'm sure.

Loving the sound of operation Beauty Queen LTEC, can I join in?

Does anyone else get really hungry just before their p?

LetThemEatCake · 24/01/2011 05:14

welcome to join me on Op Beauty Queen pickled

and yes, ravenous just before p. And really sleepy.

Romanholiday · 24/01/2011 06:46

Hmm seem to have gained 2kg. Might be motivated to shred.

traceybath · 24/01/2011 07:40

Morning - I feel so much better today - thank goodness as have bored myself to death withmy malingering Smile

Zembo - I'm hoping you are on your way to the Drs and if you can't get an appointment - well I'd go straight to a&e to be honest.

And I have started health regime today as have definitely put on weight.

Romanholiday · 24/01/2011 08:33

I've shredded!

Romanholiday · 24/01/2011 08:40

By the way, if you don't eat wheat or dairy, what do you have for breakfast?

pickledsiblings · 24/01/2011 08:52

LTEC, I can do lemon & hot water Smile

Roman, well done you. I will be shredding mid morning after swimming with DS2. No wheat or dairy for brek just leaves bacon and sausages, doesn't it, with a grilled mushroom on the side Grin.

Tracey, glad you are back to your normal self.

Have good days all, check back later.

LetThemEatCake · 24/01/2011 09:16

Roman my fave used to be porridge oats made with rice milk, sprinkled with seeds and drizzles with honey.

But please gain weight and give me your see by Chloe print dress Grin

blossoming · 24/01/2011 09:25

DS off school, so long slog in front of me today.
On the plus side, my abs absolutely kill. So level 2 must be good!

Operation beautify: what about some Johnson's holiday skin every other day, for that soft glow, 5 days of shred 2 and 3, eyebrows and upper lip threaded, LM tinted moisturiser on shopping list, with some va va voom mascara, a good blusher and a great lip gloss/tint.

Re dds and dss. I've read somewhere that there is no scientific basis for this but there is a mother in town with 5 sons, and another with 5 daughters. My sister has 3 sons and yearns for a daughter. Makes you think that some women are predisposed for one or the other don't you think?

LetThemEatCake · 24/01/2011 09:26

drizzled!

Tracey glad you feel better

Op lark nearly scuppered by early waking baby today. Had to resort to one-handed typing with babe on knee watching in the night garden on split screen. Got it all done though, phew!

Romanholiday · 24/01/2011 09:53

bloss it's men, not women! The sex is in the sperm.

Cake OK, as I think I've just hit 9st from below, if we continue our current trajectories I pledge you the See by Chloe Grin

Actually, I never weigh myself usually at all, but yesterday I noticed that my fave JBrand jeggings were camel toeing Shock so figured it was an emergency.

Bonsoir · 24/01/2011 10:02

blossoming - a friend of mine has six daughters and no sons. When she was pregnant with no 6, she didn't bother to ask the scanner what sex the baby was, so sure she was that she was incapable of making a boy!
