New thread

OP posts:
FritziGreenEyes · 11/01/2011 12:55

I have missed so many posts and links on this thread Confused so I can just say "Happy birthday to all the W&A minis!"

macmama So heartbreaking about your DD but you did the right thing and addressed it then and there. The first time when DD came home from kindergarten and said no one would play with her I almost cried or actually did, not in front of her of course.

Will click on links now as my ultimate lunchtime treat.

AllBuggiedOut · 11/01/2011 12:58

Second link should have been to my sequins, sorry. Agree the camel is a bit of an odd colour but wondered if it might work...

bloss I have no idea what size to try the the skinnies; the measurements on net-a-porter seem to bear no relationship to my figure at all! Usually a 10 or sometimes a 12. can you or anybody advise please? Ta.

I think the thing that's hardest about the daily grind is what roary mentioned about seeing other people who seem to do it effortlessly. I suspect it's important not to make comparisons of that nature, but I also find it very hard not to Sad I haven't had a regular salary since my mat leave for DS1 stopped (mid-2004). We also have separate accounts and DH pays me a lump sum once a month, out of which I pay some of the bills, some of the food, clothes for all of us etc etc. and if it's running out I ask for more. But somehow the regular payment aspect makes it feel less like his money. Oh, and I have his card details saved at Ocado Wink

I can't help with a code, sorry madame

Now, should I check out the blog that's been linked to or empty the washing machine...

PlumSykes · 11/01/2011 12:58

Esher, even the other colours are still a good price. You really couldn't wear with a coat over top, but would look great with cashmere knit underneath for spring, or over a blouse for evening casual.

traceybath · 11/01/2011 12:59

Esher - if you phone them up they'll just add it to your order.

Was quite hilarious - was unpacking food shopping, checking emails and clicked through saw gilet and couldn't type my message to you quickly enough.

I like it a lot and have ordered it for research purposes only Wink Am sure it won't work on me as do find they all make me too womble like but it does look nice. And in spirit of de-cluttering found £50 of chqs to me from birthday in august that I hadn't paid in yet Blush

Oh and DD jumped headfirst out of her cot again last night - does this mean I need to put her in a bed [wimpers]. She is nearly 18 months.

LetThemEatCake · 11/01/2011 13:02

esher may I help you by saying I think that gilet is horrid

and that i have, of late, seen loads of people whom you would not wish to sartorially emulate (I won't say the c word ...) wearing gilets

Mac poor brave dd. Heartbreaking Sad
Roary sorry you feel blue. It is so hard.

On massive downer today post doc appt so won't stick around other than to say sorry hells got it wrong - thought it was dd's b'day (isn't she Jan too??)

and has anyone answered Chocolat's question? I feel a bit useless to do so but would hate for a potential newbie to be overlooked Smile

LetThemEatCake · 11/01/2011 13:04

sorry I meant madammecholet

chocolate on brain!! or just Johnny Depp?? Grin

plum thanks a million you lovely girl. And a fellow Cavallini fan to boot Wink Thank you

LetThemEatCake · 11/01/2011 13:04

oh ooops sorry tracey Blush

PlumSykes · 11/01/2011 13:07

Look, WIT has posted picks of her tiny but toy-free bathroom. How I love a snoop!

traceybath · 11/01/2011 13:07

LOL at cross-posts Smile

Chocolate - never free delivery at NAP or at least I don't think so.

hellsbelles · 11/01/2011 13:10

Cake - hope you are o.k?

yes DS b'day today and DD follows in 11 days time! Me and my Jan babies!

MadameC - I've never come across free delivery with Nap yet..not sure about matches.

Roary Sad - will post properly when at home (work now).

PlumSykes · 11/01/2011 13:12

No idea on free del. code, Madamme, have never seen one at Matches or NAP. The Anglomania is DIVINE though, don't imagine you'd regret ordering it.

Bonsoir · 11/01/2011 13:13

Bonjour Smile

Haven't been around here much as RL is über-busy, though sadly not in an über-stylish way. I went to a breakfast debate on male-female parity on Boards and in the workplace generally this morning. The venue was beautiful, on Place Vendôme next to the Ritz, but the population was not! I sat at a table with a bunch of ex-colleagues and had a feeling of déjà vu and a glimpse of former life.

I did manage to wear shorts and knee high boots Wink and one other woman in the room (someone I know well) was similarly glamorously attired. As for the rest... Sad. As for the men Sad Sad Sad.

And really, what is the point of a high-powered career if you are going to spend you life looking knackered and badly dressed???!

FritziGreenEyes · 11/01/2011 13:14

Love all your bargains, especially the Agnes Belstaff boots!
Fantastic price!

I missed out on buying Hush pj trousers. Maybe I'll buy the silk pair to go with the new bed Wink.

abo Both links take me to the pencil skirt? Prefer JBrand skinnies and think they will be very useful as would look great with neutral or coloured tops. Oh, just noticed that I have repeated what bloss said.

verity Well done on finishing your project! Hope your DCs will get better soon.

roary Sorry you are feeling down today. Great practical advice from other ladies I think. I sometimes deliberately don't put the dishes away after a meal and just leave the house with DD to do something we love or just enjoy a cup of coffee on the sofa while staring out of the window. Oh dear, written down like that I sound a bit weird Hmm.

FritziGreenEyes · 11/01/2011 13:17

cake Hope everything's ok. Be kind to yourself...

bonsoir Your outfit sounds great!

bloss What is your outfit for teaching today?

FritziGreenEyes · 11/01/2011 13:18

bonsoir I often wonder how men can get dressing so wrong. So easy for them to pick a great suit and look polished I think.

Bonsoir · 11/01/2011 13:24

Fritzi - I think a lot of men really don't care about their appearance. And they are very lazy about taking care of their clothes and putting things together properly! Most well-dressed men have a helper of some sorts - wife or valet or something...

VerityBrulee · 11/01/2011 13:32

Thanks Fritzi Smile How are you? Have you been to the Dr? MN link-clicking is one of my favourite treats too!

Cake hope you are OK, take care of yourself

Plum if we didn't have visitors, the bathroom would never be clean. I have it down to 5 mins of intensive effort just before they arrive.

Bloss have you got the Pure jacket yet? Well done on the ebay sales.

Tracey I see you as the next Natalie Massenet - web experience, fashion expertise and a whirlwind of energy. Mumsnet-a-Porter perhaps?Wink

eshermummy · 11/01/2011 13:35

back to see the verdict on the gilet and am Confused

um, on the basis that brown really is my least fave of the colours am NOT going to add to order
Am going to do my usual sale roulette and if it is still there is my size tomorrow.........(I sort of know what you mean LTEC but I also think it is nice Smile)

Sorry for the me me gilet me post
will be back on this evening as per

swimming lessons with the dd's this arvo

madammecholet · 11/01/2011 13:41

Thanks letthemeatcake I was beginning to feel unloved!

Ho hum, not to worry, I do think I would love them both to be honest. Needed for a wedding, so I will glam up with shoes and bag too.. :)

ApuskiDusky · 11/01/2011 13:43

LTEC, hope all is OK.

Sorry in advance for what is about to be a big whinge - I am not having the best of mornings. No heating or hot water and the engineer has yet to work out why, I have just spilt the liquid contents of the potty all over the carpet by tripping over my feet, and baby A has just vommed milk all over me and him (again) resulting in both completely changing clothes (again). God I hate reflux sometimes.

Sorry, I need to vent otherwise I'll just sit down and cry! (and embarrass the hell out of the heating engineer).

traceybath · 11/01/2011 13:47

Oh Apuski! Reflux is hideous - DS1 had it and it totally blighted his first year - in the end I always felt like I smelt of sick. Much sympathy Smile

Madammecholet - why did I call you chocolate Blush Also could be worth emailing both Matches and Nap and seeing if they'll get the other dress in so you'd only pay one delivery charge.

VerityBrulee · 11/01/2011 13:54

Oh, that's awful Apuski, what a morning. Ds1 had awful reflux, but a cranial osteopath performed miracles on him, it's really worth trying if you haven't already.

macmama · 11/01/2011 14:03

More sympathy Apuski - both my DD's were vomity babies and DD2 in particular had dreadful reflux - just take heart it won't be forever!

OP posts:
macmama · 11/01/2011 14:05

What made reflux better for DD2: me going dairy free (less screaming!), introduction to solids at 6 months, standing/walking early.
