New thread

OP posts:
hellsbelles · 09/01/2011 14:33

here here cake - well said.

And as to the jeans...I think they may be a different pair then to yours. I promise you we are in no way the same size. No way (and this is not me being modest - I know it).

MarshaBrady · 09/01/2011 14:35

Not in the day so much. I wear blochs a lot but seem to murder my feet. Don't know why! Bad ballet feet I suspect!

Will give these a twirl whirl.

OooohWhatIfItHurts · 09/01/2011 14:40

Hmm. Not quite sure what I have done to deserve the rant, LTEC.

I was just chatting about my career and cast no aspersions on others who had chosen differently (in fact went out of my way to say how interesting/enlightening I had found their choices) I made no assumptions about others on the thread, SAHM or not, or how they spent their money.

Utterly confused. Am relurking rapidly. Not as nice a place as I had thought it was here. Sad

PlumSykes · 09/01/2011 14:41

Marsha they are brilliant! Not really you, but I love them!

traceybath · 09/01/2011 14:46

I do agree LTEC - we all make choices dependent upon our own unique circumstances/careers/situations and just nice to support each other in whatever we do really Smile

Do you know I've been too busy to shop! Still hankering after the LV scarf but as already laying out money on house purchase stuff I may have to forego Sad We shall see Wink

MB - I think you could carry those shoes off amazingly well Smile

AllBuggiedOut · 09/01/2011 14:50

oww the coat is lovely. I love the look and feel of moleskin, my only hesitation is that it's not terribly warm...

How will you wear the shoes marsha?

bloss - fantastic idea. Am off to take photo of me in the Boden tunic...

DH upstairs working, DSs watching TV, me thinking about clothes. It's no wonder the housework doesn't get done SadGrinConfused

PlumSykes · 09/01/2011 14:52

I have been very conciously not getting involved in the SAHM/WOHM?WAHM debate, but will break my silnce and say to OoohWhatIfItHurts that I REALLY don't think LTEC was directing that at you.

Anyway, back to frivolity. Have been looking at new things on Topshop, and have a raging desire to do the school run in this, with a large paste leopard brooch pinned to it, a la Joan Collins. Whaddya think?

LetThemEatCake · 09/01/2011 15:18

plum I love it

oooh honestly that was not directed at you. I am interested to hear what you have to say on life/ work/ style and did not mean to make you feel unwelcome so please do stay!

Another housework shirker here. Operation declutter not going so well - dc pulling stuff out of bags faster than I put it in. And dh doing very dodgy job on DVDs - just found Shred and Muriel's Wedding in the rubbish pile!!!
Angry

MarshaBrady · 09/01/2011 15:21

Thanks! It has been so long since I have had a delivery that I am really excited Grin

Abo not sure yet. I didn't think that far ahead!

Oh I remembered I did wear boots with a heel for a while but sometimes flats are so much better. Esp as ds2 got heavier in my arms.

I shall do some tap dancing if they are good!

Ooh don't relurk. Do stay. Smile

Plum that would look great!

CHOOGIRL · 09/01/2011 15:26

Goodness I have been absent for a day and come back to find Cake is leaving Sarf London - but not for exotic Sydney - but West London Shock

OWW which hotel were you in? I'm coming to Amsterdam in July to see TT and looking for a nice hotel. I usually stay in Utrecht which is a bit far out for the stadium.

Tracey wont you need a LV scarf to keep you warm in your new house

Will catch up later once I'm back from the gym. Need to work off all those extra lbs I've put on networking this week Wink. Which reminds me Plum do you have a view on smartlipo?

Esher The Palace is booked. Will PM details as I think I got quite a good deal.

LetThemEatCake · 09/01/2011 15:26

Do you wear Jean sorry i mean jeans Marsha? I think they'd look great with skinny jeans and a slouchy cashmere sweater. Really simple.

I agree re flats with ever-weightier babes!!

MarshaBrady · 09/01/2011 15:32

Yes that could look fab! Have indigo and light grey acne skinnies.

carciofi · 09/01/2011 15:41

Ollie, I like the coat.

OooohWhatIfItHurts, don't go.

DD keeps telling DH, we don't need a man, mama very clever, she fixed the TV. Grin

Cool shoes, Marsha.

PickledSiblings, I'd like to see the shelves.

carciofi · 09/01/2011 15:42

Fabulous turban, Plum!

pickledsiblings · 09/01/2011 15:54

Marsha those shoes really made me giggle. The Billy Jean thing is spot on. They are an occasional shoe methinks - I wouldn't fancy trying to clean them. They would probably work with opaques and a jumper dress or rolled up jeans and a breton. Or just ignore me if I am making a fashion faux pas Grin.

OWW how wonderful your evening out sounded. I have realised recently that violin is my fav instrument, closely followed by piano. I hasten to add that I play neither Grin.

hells you made me laugh too with your step too far/self-deprication quip

LTEC, this phrase from your rant 'But of late there's been a vague undercurrent of assumption about how SAHMs spend their time (and money)' sounds ominous. Do you mean on this thread? And if so, do you mean me? The reason I think you might is because of something you said further up thread about me thinking you had too many dresses. I don't, but your new pink one reminds me of an old ballgown and I thought it would be OK to post that (or that you might even find it funny) in light of your DH thinking that the pink/red Oasis one that you sent back recently was prom-like. I meant nothing sinister or judgmental, it was an attempt at humour. Just ignore my mini rant if you didn't mean me Smile.

OooohWhatif, 'tis a very friendly place on here but as always on forums it can be quite difficult to 'judge' the tone.

LetThemEatCake · 09/01/2011 16:01

no no NO pickled!!

honestly no.

I am doing extraordinarily badly on here today. Upsetting people l, r and c. Will go back to binning CDs

KILDARE4 · 09/01/2011 16:12

Marsha Those shoes are great, they could one of those fashion pieces that go with nothing specifically and by default go with almost everything! They also should have the added benefit of making you smileSmile every time you put them on!

Cool turban Plum, very 1950's filmstar glamorous! You'd certainly cut a dash at the school gate.

Back to the Sunday papers......

hellsbelles · 09/01/2011 16:13

pickled I think your statement re: tone is a very wise one.

Ooooh please don't go!

I'm starting to love my star blouse slightly less...DH took a photo of me and I look about 6 months pregnant with it on.

DC are driving me crazy today...DD missed her lunchtime sleep (disturbed by big poo)...and is now in a shocking mood - which is causing DS to amp up his cheekiness as well. I can't wait for bedtime today.

Mumsnut · 09/01/2011 16:18

LTEC: you are moving closer to your in-laws?????

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 09/01/2011 16:20

Hello, just wanted to pop in and say hello and HAPPY NEW YEAR to the A&W lot. I hope you are enjoying the sales and have got lots of lovely bargains. I am trying to be careful with money at the moment and this thread is too tempting so trying to stay away. Hope you are all well. Take care.

AllBuggiedOut · 09/01/2011 16:22

Right, pic of me in Boden on profile. Let me know if you can't see it as it's mates only and I can't remember who I've added and who I haven't! Labels still attached so frock can go back if necessary.

LetThemEatCake · 09/01/2011 16:25

no no NO Mumsnut!! was just in Guildford for MiL lunch yest. Not moving closer!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

but moving yes, West of London.

(not even West London, Choo although I appreciate the euphemism Grin)

MarshaBrady · 09/01/2011 16:25

heehee Pickled and Kildare. If they can't be worn nearly every day for the school run then they are not staying!

There are some great things at the school; beaver and reindeer fur! Jumpsuit harems, leather Marant trousers. I have not been standing out enough imo Wink

blossoming · 09/01/2011 16:28

ltec, I'm sure you'll make friends wherever you go.
*marsha, wow at those shoes!
We're just back from our walk, DS on new mountain bike. He is six but he looks so big on it. His clothes seem too small and his new rugby shirt (gift, age 7-8) fits him nicely. I feel quite sad about it!
tracey, I also think you will need a beautiful
LV scarf to cheer you up during refurb!!

OooohWhatIfItHurts · 09/01/2011 16:29

I'm back!! If you'll have me.

LTEC and I have been chatting behind the scenes and the misunderstanding has been cleared. Sorry for being such a drama queen - not my style usually.

Very glad to be here as I bloody luv you lot. Grin If any of you bumped into me you would recognise me immediately as my outfit would be made up top to toe of clothes you have linked to on this thread.
