I will try and make the 19th.

eshermummy · 28/12/2010 21:48

Plum I hear you on the sales. Have not even ventured to rl shops yet as cannot face the crowds/chaos etc. Made a few (mainly Reiss) sale purchases via ASOS (so civilised) which should arrive tomorrow but most of what I buy atm seems to go straight back....
Have spent last couple of evening trawling NAP/My Wardrobe et al for purchases but nothing is taking my fancy Sad or, if it is, it is either (a) out of stock in my size (b) still too pricey or (c) not in the sale!

Have spent the whole of Crimbo eating crap so am feeling v fat and sluggish.

The fact that the temp has risen and the snow has gone has also made me look slightly towards Spring attire but am thinking that will be shortlived and I'll be back to perusing alpine sweaters before long.

LTEC I have your therapy sequin dress in my basket but they only have a 10 left - will that be too big for me do you think? Is yours an 8?

Very Envy of those of you with a social life. No evening outings currently scheduled here and in for NYE Sad

traceybath · 28/12/2010 21:53

I too am in for NYE and shamefully looking forward to take-away and champagne in my pyjamas Blush

LTEC - 4am!!!!! Respect girlfriend in best oprah voice Wink So come on what else did you buy last night?

Yeay for Bunny coming too Grin

eshermummy · 28/12/2010 21:55

Sorry, missed lots of posts while posting.

Tracey shall we do the Spesh K thing together Wink?
Once the dd's are back at school I must get my dieting mojo back.

I would love to come on 19th but for some reason dh has gotten all strange about it and doesn't want me to stay overnight Shock. Also, it is dd1's birthday on 24th so her party will I imagine be either that w/e or the following one which should be fine (I'll make it the following one Grin) but not sure quite how to deal with the dh reluctance bit at present.....

eshermummy · 28/12/2010 22:00

Sorry, also meant to say welcome back MRsSB - I remember you from way back then Smile
Also, does anyone know if Hoxtonchick is still around? Am sure she posted on original W&A too.

traceybath · 28/12/2010 22:06

Hoxton was on apple-shaped thread a couple of weeks ago.

And yes hello mrss-b - I know you too will be waiting for the brora sale. And I will undoubtedly be nashing my teeth when dexter gets her preview of the sale and I yet again don't Envy

Esher - am sure you'll win your DH around. Did you manage to persuade your parents to have girls for a week in the new year?

DH is threatening to have discussion with his parents re their general rubbish-ness at seeing us and the dc's but selfishly I'd rather he waited until they've had them for the night so we can go away Blush

blossoming · 28/12/2010 22:08

Definitely need to book somewhere soon I agree traceybath. Sorry for your dh's reaction esher. mine is tense about it too. Yeah for bunny and hf though!

hellsbelles · 28/12/2010 22:14

Esher - we have months to come up with plans to bring your DH to his senses!

I'm up for the 19th.

Tracey - i too have eaten way too much - so will be going Dukan crazy next week. I feel totally blurgh.

Cake - can you link to magical jeans?

traceybath · 28/12/2010 22:17

DH is on a roll having taken the dc's away to his brothers for 24 hours.

Quite funny as he ended up with youngest 2 in his bed last night and he commented its quite hard to watch all 3 of them when out on your own - no really Wink

But did all of us good and he's talking of doing it more often.

I do love the way that we're viewd as dripping in designer clothes on this thread Grin

PlumSykes · 28/12/2010 22:20

I know, tracey. I mean, it's not as though I only shop at Matches. Sometimes I slum it at my-wardrobe, for God's sake.

OP posts:
dexter73 · 28/12/2010 22:24

tracey - I am umming and aaahing over what to get in the Brora sale. I think (at the moment) I will get this cardy and maybe this one. I am also now tempted by a dress after the thread on the Liberty print ones but don't know....

eshermummy · 28/12/2010 22:29

I know Tracey - I rather feel that we can all say it until we are blue in the face but noone ever notices the ASOS/Oasis/Boden/M&S links do they? They only remember the ££££ NAP links which half the time are for reference purposes anyway. Sheesh.

I'm a bit Hmm about dh re meet-up as he is normally v easygoing and is not like him to begrudge me anything. I think he is just feeling a bit miffed that we haven't had a w/e away together for ages ourselves and that somehow I would prefer to go away with you lot than with him. Which is obviously not true Wink

Tracey that's great about your dh taking all 3 dc on his own. Good practice for meet-up.

Have not yet broached the extended sitting plans with my parents Grin. Need to price up a range of options first and see which combo is most feasible.

notyummy · 28/12/2010 22:32

Also very much up for 19th. May need to book Hoxton soon if that is potential accommodation venue - quite popular!

Will be back with news soon. No clothes purchases to report....but a personal shopping 'experience' plus champage and makeover from DH as Xmas present.

FritziGreenEyes · 28/12/2010 22:47

Mr Notyummy really is A&W husband of the year!

CHOOGIRL · 28/12/2010 22:54

Hi all

Another fatty on the sofa here. Wine, chocolate, cake. You name it..I've eaten it. Am taking my imaginary hat off to cake for ability to stay on Dukan over the festive season.

Esher am with you on NAP sale - not managed to find anything I like - apart from the Gold Blochs which are v tempting.

Am def in for 19th. Esher you have plenty of time to work on DH - and if that fails just leave him Wink

Tracey glad A had a lovely birthday.

Vin glad you have decided to kick P to the kerb. I do admire you thinking of retraining.

NY very Envy about personal shopping.

It has been my first xmas in the UK for years and getting itchy feet. Am currently trying to decide on holiday for Feb half term. Thinking here or the Atlantis. Has anyone been to either? I've been to Dubai a few times, but never with DD

CHOOGIRL · 28/12/2010 23:00

Welcome back MrsSB. ROFL at style porn.

Bonsoir HF I love ballet. Took DD to Royal Opera House last week to see Beatrix Potter. Also planning to see Nutcracker NYE. She has Barbie and the Nutcracker on DVD so at least the music will be familiar.

ApuskiDusky · 28/12/2010 23:01

Hi all, it's been lovely to read through all your Christmas stories and see what has been bought at the sales so far. I'm just back from internet-free MIL's, so have been frantically looking at online sales tonight. I have bought a couple of things - finally got a 'going out' dress that I love from Whistles (and I went out in it without bottling it!) and some fab shoe boots from Russell and Bromley.

Having a medical day tomorrow - baby A has another paed appointment (but is looking lovely and chubby, so have no concerns), and I have to try to get ds1 into the GPs as he's developed a really pronounced squint over the last few days. A bit worried about what all that will entail.

Sorry, will post properly later, DH is kicking me off the laptop to do banking.

eshermummy · 28/12/2010 23:05

Choo - we have done Royal Mirage and it was great. V child friendly. We did it when dd1 was under a year so we were all in one room (which was fine, rooms quite generous if not overly inspiring). We have tried to go back a number of times but everytime I price it up with the 2 inter-connecting rooms we need now, DH has a heart attack and I have to have a lie-down so we have not returned Sad. Is much less blingy than the Atlantis I think. Last time I looked at Dubai, I was offered an amazing price at the Atlantis but I was put off by the reviews on trip advisor etc that said food/drinks etc were absolutely extortionate and the clientele was very russian hookers. Royal Mirage is much more old school glamour - buildings look a bit tired compared to the newer hotels but the beach and gardens are superb and service was very good. Can't remember the name of the bit we stayed in - wasn't the Arabian Court or the Givenchy spa bit so the other one!

CHOOGIRL · 28/12/2010 23:18

Thanks Esher. It's difficult isn't it? I am very fussy about hotels and like a bit of luxury but it needs to be good for DD too - hence looking at the Atlantis.

Romanholiday · 29/12/2010 07:12

Hello all. Popping in to say Dubai totally fab and we all want to move here. I'm being v nice about going to Ferrari world today to earn myself shopping time at the biggest mall in the world tomorrow. Tis much more conservative than Europe - no knees or shoulders at the shops, no hand holding etc. Lots of burkinis at the wild wadi water park yesterday. Plenty of bling though, and 28oC every day. What's not to like?

Merry Xmas all!

Romanholiday · 29/12/2010 07:14

Btw all city dwellers, list your houses on an exchange site. We find hotels too Pricey now we need 2 rooms. Much better to swap for 3 bed house with a pool in the garden as we are doing now. Loads of takers for London houses.

LetThemEatCake · 29/12/2010 07:56

apuski lovely to hear of chubby little A!

glad you are having a good time roma. We have done a few house swaps, mostly to Australia, AHd a fab harbourside home for 7 months once, we felt quite sorry for the people in our Sth London Victorian terrace Grin

Gosh people please don't think I have been dieting as such over Xmas. Only meant thatsince Xmas food is so protein-y (smoked salmon, turkey) it felt quite Dukany anyway. Although I confess I skipped everything of a pudding nature. But still feel like I have eaten loads over the last week and will need to regroup after NYE.

hells magic jeans are these ones I think but will double check later

esher the 10 might be okay on you in the sequins as it is not fitted through the body? Worth a go, but be prepared to be swamped!

LetThemEatCake · 29/12/2010 08:03

ooops sorry yes sales purchases .. well you know, several Chloe dresses, a bit of McQueen, couple of Marc Jacobs bits - the usual

Grin

lots of Cos, bit of Warehouse, fair bit of Toppers, few bits of Zara.

petitdonkey · 29/12/2010 08:12

Hello Ladies, can anyone recommend a really good personal shopper? I have a healthy budget to spend but just have no idea what to buy any more - I'd love someone to come to my house, chuck out all the rubbish in my wardrobe and then take me shopping!!

LetThemEatCake · 29/12/2010 08:20

I don't think I said a proper hello to MrsSB

I never did have that affair you advised me to have, you know. (gratification displacement, as a distraction from shopping, remember?? Grin Problem was that I would have needed to spend a bundle on new undies

Maybe next year ...
