Evening Wise Ladies!!

Tracey - happy belated birthday to Master A! And I think enjoy the quiet - have a bath? Face mask? Read a book? Pre-DCs luxury to have time and silence.

Cakey - love the ring! And how lovely that you were thinking of us.

Do you know, I often think of most of you Wise Ladies. Something will happen that makes me think of one/ some of you, be it a common experience, seeing something one of you covets (ie Hermes Constance and Verity) or needing inspiration (Cakey and her fun DC activities, the whirlwinds named Bloss and Tracey) etc etc.

OWW - yes, me thinks our future Christmases will be far more boisterous and chaotic! Enjoyed the relative tranquility.

Thanks for Blochs advice!! Will buy my normal size. Am off to Westfield w the babies tomorrow. Destinations inc Zara - all little DD dresses sold out online!!

bunnymother · 27/12/2010 22:37

Carciofi - think cardi is OK but a bit shapeless, even on model.

ABO - and nice that you had some quiet-ish time over Christmas lunch, too!

DD1 received so many presents we haven't given them all to her - saving Present reserves for a cold and bleak winters afternoon when housebound and bored bored bored.

carciofi · 27/12/2010 22:41

Hi Bloss, hope you get the shoeboots. I found the cardigan in ivory for £95 on Selfridges website and ordered it. I prefer it in black but maybe ivory suits an autumn better!

Bunny, we have stashed some of DD's presents too.

blossoming · 28/12/2010 07:41

Morning!
carciofi, ivory very wise! And what a great price!
Have fun in Westfield today bunny. D'you know what I'm doing? Washing and washing and then the ironing. Dh really wants another quiet day.
I'll also try and sort out my email mess.
But on the plus side ds was given books for Christmas: proper ones with chapters, so I'm looking forward to starting one of them and a 250 piece jigsaw. So a nice, family day!

OllieWollieWoo · 28/12/2010 08:06

Morning.
Hope you had a relaxing evening Tracey. I feel the need to de-clutter too - I think its seeing all the new toys etc to find homes for! (Plus the new, slightly bossy cleaner!)
Bunny - I always stash a few presents and bring them out throughout the year such as when we go on holiday!

Carciofi - great you got a cardi.

ABO - hope you had a successful day at the sales and ended up with lots of bags hanging off your arms! Love that feeling!

Spent far too long last night trawling through the new Next Spring range online. Literally only saw one thing I would wear and even that is the wrong colour for me but would look great on some of you, polyester aside?:
cream drape dress here. Would look fab with those tan peep toed shoes from Boden Spring range?

DS2 has a playdate here this morning and then I need to take the boys shopping this afternoon to buy presents for DS2s creche as its his last day tomorrow. We have been going there for 5 years and had the same 3 helpers (is that the right word?) who are all lovely so want to get them something too. No idea what tho! Gift voucher of sorts maybe?

carciofi · 28/12/2010 09:32

That is a nice dress, Ollie. I'd go with gift vouchers. Shock at your MIL telling you to bring biscuits!

Hope the cardigan doesn't look like a bathrobe on! I suppose I can belt it. Blossoming, yes, I linked to it before, I have been thinking about it for a while!

Just bought a few things from Isabella Oliver as I liked their stuff last time. They have a lot on sale, MM.

Hello ladies and hope you all had a very merry Christmas!

Haven't managed to come on here for a while- too busy and have also just returned from a last minute Xmas holiday! Was v nice although 4 out of 5 of us managed to be unwell (I was the worst of all)! I think I have been a bit overworked and run down recently.

Hoping to go sales shopping today/ tomorrow but will be taking DCs and getting things for them mainly, shoe fittings, etc.
If I have a chance, I will be on the look out for a Winter coat as I actually don't have one (have been wearing a raincoat the whole time and layers).

vino- sorry to hear about your computer- I really hope you can find someone to save all of your data and photos of your DD.
I noticed further up the thread that you were wondering whether to apply for Medicine. You are still really young (past it emotion) so could definitely be a possibility but I just wondered why you would want to do another long degree, followed by a very long period of training when you already have a good career. I'm sure you have mentioned before on the thread that you are a lawyer- what sort of law is it that you practice (only being nosy as I have a brother and sister who are solicitors in London)? If you want more information/ advice re Medicine as a career, you are welome to PM me :)

Vin?s P&J is the new Janice isn?t it!

ABO ? very successful sale shopping!

OWW ?at MIL!

Bloss ? 23!!!! OMG

Bunny ? love the idea of you and DH with your girls?.also glad you are a fellow ?save and store of later!? I always feel a bit mean doing it but I think it?s wise!

Vino ? I wish I knew how to help on computer nightmares. Your re-training plans sound very exciting and when it?s something you have longed to do it?s usually right. On a AW note - I too have the VB top and wear it as you suggested ? with my skinny jeans. It feels too formal worn any other way (for me).

LTEC ? the ring is beautiful. Has DH been a ?lurking? here?I?m sure you?ve linked to it on here.

Tracey ? belated happy birthday to DS! Sounds like you deserve a break after all that hard work.

I?ve got some good NAP bargains?but will post later?very tired as DS has succumbed to the tummy bug and was up all night vomiting?.today vomiting has stopped and he now has a leaky bottom (his words). We await our turn as this bug seems very contagious. However I am very thankful that he waited till now to get it.

Christmas was frantic but wonderful with lots of travelling to do. The DC were so beautifully behaved. DD is beyond help on the princess/fairy front. She is obsessed. And has been prancing about in wings (MIL gift).

I wore this red dress. Expensive but I had vouchers and it felt very lovely. I think I will wear it a lot as the red is good. It looks very formal in the pics but for some reason it didn?t look quite so ?business? like on (in a good way)

Better go do some more washing.

bunnymother · 28/12/2010 13:44

Super quick post...

Vin - beyond excited that P may be moving out! DH used a program called "Recovermyfiles.com to get our pics back when had laptop crash. They were all over the place, so not nicely organised and took hours to find and sort, but they were there! And then we put in place back up system - backing up to Mozy (remote storage ie in the sky) and also bought 2 terrabyte hard drive to back up to. Hope this helps!! Do NOT want you to lose your precious photos!!!

bunnymother · 28/12/2010 13:44

Ooh and Vin, if P does move out, will you change the locks? Mistrustful rabbit...

bunnymother · 28/12/2010 13:46

PS DH is sniggering at me giving IT advice. Well coined scepticism on his part, I must say! Had to ask his advice on that entire para to Vin. Blush

bunnymother · 28/12/2010 13:46

Well founded not well coined. Bloody iPhone!

PlumSykes · 28/12/2010 13:57

Hello all!

Some excellent sale purchases going on, I'm pleased to see. I've keep it strictly high street, as lost lucrative freelance contract just before Xmas.

So, got this shearling gilet, sequin dress and a couple of Monsoon knits that are sold out, so no links. Also cleaned up at White Co and Monsoon for DD-nighties for next 2 yrs, and some great little denim dresses and knitted tunics for next yr.

Christmas was fine in Plum Heights, just managed to get out to Waitrose thru the snow, so weren't reduced to beans on toast for our Xmas feast.

We were, alas, able to get out of our road to get to the inlaws for Boxing Day. Was loud, alcohol-free and high in carbs. But is only once a year, and DD does love to play with the other cousins. MIL's husband annoyed me beyond even his usual standards-he is an utter perv, yet also managed to infer that I had put much weight on. Gah!
MIL gave me a Boden voucher, so will give this Breton tunic and the leopard glads a whirl when I order summer bits for DCs.

DH currently in bed nursing sore head after watching the Ashes and boozing with friend until 6am. If he emerges soon, plan to pop to shops for a wee look at sales.

Ooh, remind one of the date of the March meet-up, please. Am determined to make it, even if train issues mean I have to walk from Wales this time.

Vin, re medicine, it's really not too late-though imagine will be a hard slog. A friend of mine, who I met on a post grad journalism course 10 yrs ago, when she was late 20s (I , of course, was practically foetal), had a very successful career in magazines, travelled, met lots of stars etc, then, at 35 decided to retrain, again, and is currently doing her junior doctor bit at various hospitals. She's much older than you-but has no children, which does make a difference of course. Would it be worth it? I don't know, but you probably do. Now, more about Arse-Face's plans to shape up and ship out, please.

OP posts:
carciofi · 28/12/2010 14:06

Vino, that is great news that P is going. You should definitely do medicine, you'd make a wonderful doctor.

Hope you are feeling ok now, Looby.

Lovely dress, Hells.

Your MIL's h sounds awful, Plum! I have ordered the Boden leopard print sandals.

Can someone please link to the Vanessa Bruno top?

We need to buy new sofas and a bed so that's the shopping list for me for a while!

hellsbelles · 28/12/2010 14:10

plum - great buys...and I think wise Boden purchases!

Vin- how old are you (if that is ok to ask - ignore me if not)

Not to be left out of the shopping frenzy, and doing my best with just the iPhone, I have ordered the Isabella Oliver ruched jersey dress I've been considering for a while. In the grey.
Every time I sit down I feel my eyes closing. Normal post Christmas behaviour?
It all makes sense now: it's mil's b'day on Thursday which is why dh wanted to wait till then for shopping! We'll call on the way. She's also coming for Sunday lunch. I so tired of smiling and making conversation I can't tell you!

FritziGreenEyes · 28/12/2010 14:49

Hello lovelies! Many of you have said it before but I would like to thank you all too for contributing to this thread. Has been my lifeline and inspiration many times during the past few months! Mwah, mwah and may the A&W tradition continue!

I really enjoyed reading about all the different Christmas days and food traditions! We are back from our tour de force to see all our family in two days. Lots of snow and ice on the motorways but I'm glad we didn't need our emergency supplies as inspired by notyummy! Best part was that my Mum was really touched by the present I gave her. Worst part was staying at in-laws as they had no warm water and no heating except the fire in the living room. DH and I had to sleep in a overcrowded dusty box room full of books and tat art.

plum I think most of us can make the 19th March for next meet-up. Suggestion for accomodation for out of towners. I'm going to book my flights as soon as we have date confirmed. Loved the RM dress you linked to the other day but sadly I'm not size 8 or have any opportunity to wear it.

monkeysmama How dare your SIL even suggest to send food for your guests. So rude! Sounds like you have a great relationship with your Dad though. Did he manage to buy you something the other day when he took photos of clothes for you to choose from?

verity I'm very impressed with the hunt for the Fahri boots! bloss When can you get yours? Can't the shop just send them to you?

cake Love that ring Smile. DH got matching necklaces for me and DD. Sounds a bit corny but I was quite moved and they look great.

Wow at your avid collection of red dresses! Would like one too but not sure if there is a type of red that suits my summer complexion. Must ask bloss.

abo Great haul!

ollie Your MIL really is unbelievable! Are you supposed not to burn the candle in order to save it?!

blossoming Almost forgot to say: DD loved her apple-washbag which I had filled with her much coveted electric toothbrush! Might order some crayon rolls if you have any left for upcoming birthdays of DD's pals.

bonsoir Did you enjoy Swan Lake? What did you wear?

tracey Enjoy the peace and quiet. Have decluttered too and thrown out two big bin bags of stuff.

bunny Thinking about Wise Ladies during RL is happening to me too sometimes. Especially when I'm out shopping and see something one of you would like!

vin Hope situation with P gets resolved soon. Have you given up on plans of renting somewhere else for you and DS? Is there anything you can do to speed up process of moving P out?
