If it's the one I think it is (denser print in some places?) then it's very nice but it's not a forever bag and it's a lot to spend on a one-season wonder.

Mumsnut · 26/12/2010 12:58

I agree. Too transient. Better off with an oak.

Fleecy · 26/12/2010 13:14

Yes, that's the one! I have a Somerset tote in oak and have used it at least a couple of times a week summer and winter for the three years or so I've had it - oak goes with everything and won't date.

AllBuggiedOut · 26/12/2010 14:52

Oops, just ordered this, these, this and this. Found my sales mojo Xmas Grin

Happy Boxing Day all!

bunnymother · 26/12/2010 14:56

Ooh I want those gold Blochs, ABO!! Should I size up or down, Wise Ladies?

Fleecy · 26/12/2010 15:01

You sure did abo Grin

No idea bunny as I don't have any - but they are lovely and sure someone will be able to help.

How was your first Christmas as a family of five?

bunnymother · 26/12/2010 15:08

Sounds like we all had wonderful Christmases yesterday! Somehow it all came together so that all DDs were asleep at the moment Christmas lunch was ready so we had lovely traditional adult lunch w my sister and her boyfriend.

Zembo - hope you are w your family in Bangladesh now!

Verity - super impressed w your Nicole Fahri boot mission!

Re red P&J dress - if I had shifted all post bAby weight I would be joining you in purchasing - love the dress!!

AllBuggiedOut · 26/12/2010 16:51

I'd say you want a fairly snug fit bunny as my black ones (which plum sourced in TK Maxx Smile ) have stretched a bit. So pleased you had a relaxing lunch. DS3 finally gave in to sleep between starter and main course and he stayed thus until we were half way through present opening! It did mean the older boys got more attention, and DS3 didn't seem to mind that we'd started without him.

P&J got such rave reviews they I thought it must be worth a try at that price!

OllieWollieWoo · 26/12/2010 17:00

Why is it the only things I buy during sale time are non-sale items?!
DH and I have invite for posh classical concert & dinner event - its a work thing so quite serious. Have ordered the Warehouse sequin cuff dress in grey on a bit of a whim - has been out of stock for weeks and then this morning had a 12 back in stock here just hope it really is back in stock and not a website error!

Bunny - I remember fondly our first 2 Christmas's with DS1 who slept over lunchtime so we could enjoy a grown up lunch! Yesterdays dinner was lovely but boys were tired by the end of the afternoon and we had a couple of minor meltdowns (DS2 didn't like my 'indoor sparkler stuck in a brownie' surprise pudding!)
Which reminds me - whats everyone making with their left over turkey?
ABO - lovely P&J dress and think the skirt is a really good find. Im liking your sales mojo - maybe it will rub off on me?!

DH gave me a voucher for a new iphone 4 - not available for another 4 to 6 weeks here but still a nice pressie!

Went to MIL's this afternoon - she gave me a table decoration she had made herself from holly and conifer branch - but has asked that I return the 2 xmas baubles and candle that are stuck in it so she can use them again next year! Xmas Shock

LetThemEatCake · 26/12/2010 19:10

OWW your MiL really make me laugh - she's like a character in a book!

hope you all had a lovely Xmas day. zembo am sending you flight vibes Smile

nice day was had by all here. Started the day in this lace dress and patent nude pumps, moved on to red P&J with edelmans and opaques and finished day in cashmere sweater, uggs leggings Grin Got lots of lovely pressies of an A&W nature but my fave was this

had boxing day at SiL's today but my sister came with us so I had some moral support. Even so, I have just cracked open the much-needed wine.

Am impressed by how Dukan-friendly Christmas is! Don't feel like I've deviated, wine aside, at all really. Hurrah!

enjoy the rest of your festive period, people

love your shopping ABO - great buys. You've been eyeing up that skirt for ages - enjoy!! I love it.

LetThemEatCake · 26/12/2010 19:12

bunny I missed the bit about your Xmas lunch. How wonderful!! was thinking of you yesterday. So happy you had your sister here. Christmas kisses to your gorgeous girls x

blossoming · 26/12/2010 19:21

Your Mil is something else oww.

I have survived Inlaw boxing day! Although I am now sprawled on the sofa surveying the carnage. We were 23. We had soup for mingling when they arrived - in mugs with breadsticks for stirring. Then, my dining room is big enough to make a T shape with our own table and two trestle tables borrowed from Sunday school and 10 extra chairs. We had a small fire going and white tablecloths. We had smoked salmon and brown bread, quiches, Christmas ham, salad and potatoes. And a nut roast! Then a chocolate pudding and cheese. Then at 3 I was nominated to lead the walk and we went up behind the house for a mile of gorgeous snowy quiet countryside with frozen streams and sheep digging beneath the snow for grass. Not everyone joined in, and not all the washing up had been done when we got home! Then we had Christmas cake or sticky ginger and tea and coffee. Glad it's over.
Lots of clearing to do and I may have friends coming tomorrow. But plenty of leftovers!!

LetThemEatCake · 26/12/2010 19:22

Bloss meant to say -my mum adored her eiffel tower washbag, the more so when I told her who had made it. She cried!!

LetThemEatCake · 26/12/2010 19:39

And happy 3rd birthday *traceybath's ds2!!!!

blossoming · 26/12/2010 19:52

Thanks for telling me that ltec.

mistletoeandjuan · 26/12/2010 21:08

Merry Christmas everyone! And Happy Birthday to Tracey's DS.

Hope you've all had a wonderful time.

Zembo - I so so hope you made it away second time round - I have been thinking of you all over Christmas.

We had a lovely day at my mum's house. DD was an absolute delight and kept everyone entertained and my Nanna was also on good form which made things easier!

Am proud owner of Alex Monroe baby bee necklace from DD and pearl bracelet from DH.

Gutted that my parents' ancient computer takes aaaages to do links and things so will probably miss out on all your sales news but will keep popping in to check everyone is ok Grin

Another massive vote of thanks here for the thread and the friendship over the past year - good work girls Smile

AllBuggiedOut · 27/12/2010 00:17

Phew, well done bloss!

Happy birthday tracey's DS.

Very impressed you were able to stick to diet cake. Far too much chocolate and cheese eaten here!

Hitting Norwich with my mum tomorrow in search of sale bragains. Annual tradition which I really look forward to Smile

VinoNavegado · 27/12/2010 10:22

hello
I am recovering from the entire bottle of port I consumed early hours of boxing day morning.. oops!
No news- Christmas bearable! DS loved it- he got a wooden tranin which he adores from P's father and then a whole mountain of toher things from other people including a baby-sized rocking horse (awww!) and the most hellishly noisy electronic toy devices I have ever encountered that he loves to bash Grin
Wore this dress with different belt and some fabulous tights for christmas but it was a bit of a failure due to it riding up all the time- ehem..and me not realising when I was leaving over with DS my entire bra became visible. Oh dear. Not flying the flag for the thread I must say- but I did get chatted up by some random man at Christmas lunch hahaha, P was not impressed

Anyway I was being a bit avid yesterday before visitors arrived- so avid that when they rang the doorbell I left them outside while quickly looking at the NAP sale because I thought it would all sell out Grin However I have been very restrained and have only got the vanessa bruno top I was coveting for a while

Hope everyone had lovely days- I'm expecting a visitor from many thousands of miles away over the next few days, think she arrives today which would be problematic

bunny it was so nice to read about your Christmas with all DDs Smile must be so nice going from 1 to 3 in a year-wow, that's what Christmas is allabout really...also great they slept! DS did not, he was very good but got tired in his highchair both days and on Christmas day ended up resting his head on the table he was so tired. Maybe he stole the brandy butter..

oh and re blochs- I might be too late but you should get your true size, definitely do not size up!

abo excellent sales shopping!

VinoNavegado · 27/12/2010 10:24

mistletoe- I love that necklace!

VinoNavegado · 27/12/2010 10:39

LTEC love your ring, and sounds like you looked fabulous. I still haven't worn the red P&J but I hope to on NYE (not that I have any plans at all. I might wear it to the park Grin)

Had a bit of an awkward moment at Christmas meal when someone said 'that must be your first' when I was with DS- I was caught between saying no he's my second and saying yes it's my first, of course I had to say he was my second and she must have thought I was nuts as I didn't elaborate.

Hope Christmas went well for all doing it themselves. Bonsoir, Tracey, esher, and other brave ladies! I confessed at lunch there was no way I would ever be able to host it as I cannot even cook toast properly and the semi-PILs were horrified Grin

I don't know why it is but when there are sales I always see something I love that is not in the sale

VinoNavegado · 27/12/2010 10:41

Oh the only things I'm umming about are this top and this erdem dress- with the dress I love the fabric but maybe not the shape of it so much.

Bonsoir · 27/12/2010 14:04

Vin - good on you for getting the Vanessa Bruno blue top. Tell me how you style it (need more inspiration!) Smile

My Christmas hostessing is still going strong (parents still here). We went to Vaux-le-Vicomte yesterday afternoon, and are going to Swan Lake at the Opéra Bastille tonight. I had to zoom out to the supermarket/dry cleaners this morning, and then accompany my father to buy shoes... so I think a bit of an online shop rest is in order this afternoon Grin

traceybath · 27/12/2010 17:52

Hello Everyone.

Glad you all had a lovely christmas. I had lovely presents and the children seemed very pleased with theirs and very excited generally Smile.

All pretty exhausting though - do think next year I'm going to let-up on the catering a bit though - I definitely spent too much time in the kitchen. But hey ho.

Arthur had a lovely birthday too and thank you for the birthday wishes.

DH has taken the dcs off to his brothers for the day/night so I am home alone which is astonishing as haven't been home alone for a night since pre-dcs.

And was a novelty for first couple of hours and have done lots of de-cluttering, ironing, sorting but now missing them and a bit bored.

carciofi · 27/12/2010 20:41

Hi ladies, we got back from snowy Dublin today. Actually, the snow is melting there now.

I have only read back the last page or so but MM, I see you are pregnant, congrats! I am 16 weeks now, still no bump but I have just ordered a pair of COH Avas so they are ready and waiting!

Hope you all got lots of lovely presents and had a great time.

Belated happy birthday, LTEC.

Zembo, did you get to go away? My brother and DH ended up having to take the ferry to Dublin as the three flights they were booked on were all cancelled, it was chaotic.

Fritzi, hope you are feeling better.

I am very tempted by this but it is still quite pricey, what do you think?

Tracey, sit down and have a glass of wine!

Will try to catch up now while DH is collecting our takeaway.

blossoming · 27/12/2010 21:08

Hi everyone!
Hope you're enjoying some retail therapy with a glass of wine traceybath!
Good to have you back carciofi. That is a lovely cardigan. Have you linked to it before? It is expensive still, but then there's a lot of winter left too.
I feel so out of the sales thing. Our pc's screen broke and the replacement pc got a virus. Something weird has happened to my email so I can't log in. I'm using all my feminine wiles to persuade dh to go to Chester tomorrow to retrieve my shoeboots instead of Thursday. He wants to come too to buy a new pc and we've friends coming on Wednesday.
I've been so tired after 4 days of daytime drinking I could barely get off the sofa today. I'm also craving non Christmas food!
