Happy New Year everyone!

Super low-key NYE here - prosecco, risotto with scallops and lots of uber-yummy brownie ice cream and macarons from my favourite local pâtisserie.

Will shortly be going to bed!

eshermummy · 31/12/2010 22:04

Just popping in to wish you all a very happy new year!
Hope those of you that are going out are having a wonderful time Envy. Well done those of you who have dressed up to stay in. Am sat here in v boring black skinny jeans, grey cardy and hair in desperate need of a wash. nice huh.
am watching one of those grumpy people programmes which matches my mood perfectly too Grin
Went into Kingston this afternoon but didn't buy anything except a MAC lipstick (Russian red). Singularly unimpressed by the sales and was looking forward to arrival of Asos parcel which then failed to arrive. Bit annoying as was planning to wear the Reiss shorts for lunch tomorrow as have invited friends to lunch. Never mind.

New year's resolutions:
go to gym (realistically) twice a week
Buy Shred and do on the other days
Go on Special K/Dukan diet and lose albs in January (doable no?)
Finish renovations/decorating of new TV room and study that has been dragging on for months
Be more groomed - haircolour every 6 weeks and regular manicures ( pedi's too from Easter Wink)
Book babysitters and go out with dh at least twice a month (sat nights) plus arrange to go out at least twice a month with girlfriends etc
Draw up schedule/time plan for all house decorating/works projects with dh and then actually get on with it
Menu plan or at least synchronise shopping and cooking. Widen dd's acceptable repertoire of dishes.
Do more family friendly activities at weekends that are more dd centred and not chore based.

That's quite a list isn't it?

Wishing you all a happy new year!!
,

eshermummy · 31/12/2010 22:07

Lose 7lbs which I think should be doable in a month no?

bunnymother · 31/12/2010 22:59

Oooh - phone went flat mid-post!

Was running in to v quickly wish each and every one of you Wise Ladies a tremendously Happy New Year!! I have so enjoyed talking with you - this thread is a seam of happiness in my day.

Wonderful to hear of some of your fun nights out - enjoy!! I am about to wander off to bed to sleep before the next feed.

So its good night from me and I will talk to you next year... Smile

DTI10 · 31/12/2010 23:48

Hi all,

Had to sneak in to say Happy New Year!

New Year's resolution is to try and smile more, worry less about what people think of me and stop the guilt!

Am definitely going to set a budget and stick to it but I have had too much wine so ask me at the end of 2012 Wink.

Happy New Year W and A Ladies! ABO think the dress looks great in terms if cut, agree with others comments oncolour.

Am currently lying on sofa about to go to sleep, having given up fold down single bed to DH and his bad back. There are 9 of us staying here tonight so all bedrooms including ours taken ( we gave up to good friends who drove 6 hours to come!) Great night. Pretty casual do wore Gap coated skinnies with purple silk top, grey boots znd new necklace from DH. V tired.

Night all. Xx

PlumSykes · 01/01/2011 08:50

Morning! Happy New Year!

Am darned glad we had a night in last night thanks to no baby sitter. DS was up and shouting from 11pm to 1am, then awake again for the day at 6am. Alas no DD-style 8.30 lie-ins for him.

Lovely news for us yesterday. Friends who has their baby the week before Xmas were allowed to bring him home from the special care unit yesterday, just in time to celebrate new year together. Not seen him yet, will give them a few weeks to get used to it.

My sale orders-Topshop, Monsoon, White Co- all arrived yest, but are still in boxes in the hall. Will have an opening and trying on sesh later.

Hark, hope you are feeling better. Have you got your voice back, at least? Let's make this year a good one for you, yes?

Not sure on my best/worst buys, will have a think. Not too many bad ones, I don't think, thanks to you gals.

Happy New Year everyone! I have missed you Grin.
We got back from my parents' Wednesday night but there was no peace for the wicked as DH's family descended Thursday morning so have been super busy since then.

Hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year - you have all looked amazing in the photos I've seen on facebook etc. - cake you look like a supermodel and everything - your outfit looked stunning on Christmas day - your family know nothing Grin

bunny sorry to hear you've been upset about the feeding. I think half the mumsnet archives must be made up of my breastfeeding woes so I know how horrible it is but you have done and are doing amazingly well - I think it would be an achievement for most people to feed a goldfish when they have a demanding toddler let alone two hungry newborns! Just enjoy however you feed them - it really won't seem such a big thing this time next year.

bonsoir How sad and shocking about your partner's friend Sad but thank you for your Parisienne insight on food - i.e. having cake etc. instead of a meal occasionally. I have never really thought of it like that before but it makes total sense and must make for a much more enjoyable life.

Leading on from that - cake I'm so sorry you are struggling with food issues - can only echo what others have said in that I wish there was a magic solution but in the meantime you are doing an awesome job with your children who all seem to have a great relationship with each other and food Smile

Have loved reading all your lists - will have a think about mine today - better go, the inlaws are ready for breakfast!

Wow everything - I think this is going to be a very exciting year for you. Fingers crossed on LL approval.

I'm in the middle of massive sort-out of playroom and ordering new bookcases as books spilling out everywhere.

Am determined to be wiser with purchases this year - fewer better things.

And a lot less impulse purchases so farewell outnet.

blossoming · 01/01/2011 11:46

everything, are you leaving your dh?

VerityBrulee · 01/01/2011 11:59

Damn it, just wrote a big long essay on why I love you all so much and it has disappeared into the ether Angry

Will have to abreviate by saying you are all fab, but Everything and DrVin particularly hope you have great years. Taking control and doing what is right for you is transformative, be brave Smile

Spent NYE watching multiple Mad Men. DD has redeemed himself. Does anyone remember the last few episodes of series 2, when he goes to California? Wowee Grin

carciofi · 01/01/2011 12:12

Happy new year!

Glad the party went well, NY.

We spend the afternoon in the Sofa.com showroom (middle-aged!), took DD for pizza and were home by 7, so not a very wild NYE. Ordered two lovely oatmeal sofas with removable covers and will put the duck egg blue on hold!

Everything, good luck with the move.

I am a nervous driver too so better get over it as we really need a car now. Also, I am joining Tracey in buying fewer nicer things (I think I may have said this last Jan).

I should have listened to Bunny as the DVF cardigan is very shapeless so I am returning it tomorrow. I do want a long black cardigan to wear with leggings and on the long flight to New Zealand. What do you think of this?

My Anya Hindmarch wallet bought less than a month ago is falling apart so not very impressed and that will be going back to Harrods. More money for the credit card!

Bonsoir · 01/01/2011 12:33

Am starting NY with a vengeance as I want to finish my wardrobe/dressing room swap around ASAP, which is a mammoth task and really requires the DSSs not to be around for a while as I need to take everything out of all the cupboards and sort it in their room (which is fortunately massive). And I think an Ikea visit is in order as I need more storage boxes before putting things back in their new homes.

Also need to persuade DP to part with some old unworn clothes that have been lingering in the back of the dressing room ever since he moved here for a while. Any chance? Might have to resort to sexual favours bribery Grin

Fleecy · 01/01/2011 12:45

Morning all. DH and I somehow stayed up until 2am talking about plans for the year ahead Hmm Am now rather sleepy!

everything good for you. I'm sure it's not been easy for you of late but you know we're all here if you need to talk.

Budget-wise, I'm somewhere in the middle of everything and cake. I have around £250 a month (more than any of my RL friends Blush) - it covers haircut and colour, mobile phone, takeaways, eating out and going out as well as clothes. SO I usually spend around £100 a month on clothes, £80 on going out, £20 on phone and £50 for lunches out with DH or takeaways. I only have my hair done around three times a year and I cut back on clothes and going out to pay for it (£50 for cut and colour).

Fleecy · 01/01/2011 12:47

Talking about sex already bonsoir ? Take it your resolution is working out well Grin

carciofi I like the cardi

Happy New Year to all.
Wore navy Janice last night with opaques, black charcoal heels, silver jewellery.
Loved it.
Hope Phase Eight do some similar styles for Spring.

Fleecy · 01/01/2011 13:01

Gah! everything am now worried my post came out wrong. I meant 'good for you' in the sense that you'd been doing what you could to improve the situation, agonising over what to do next and I meant it was good that you'd been able to move forward with a course of action.

No offence intended!

hellsbelles · 01/01/2011 13:13

everything...I hope this brings you the resolution you need...and the name is perfect!!

All lazy here. DS is still peaky. He had the vomitting bug on the 29th and although he hasn't vommitted since he still doesn't seem himself. He's cross with me as I've said he can't go to friends today as the last thing they need is for DC to catch it. I'm hoping he's 100% t/m!

Watching "Back to the Future' all in red (just to be sure).

Still pondering the Cake miracle jeans...

FritziGreenEyes · 01/01/2011 13:22

Happy new year beautiful ladies! I hope that this thread will continue to be as inspiring and wonderful as it was last year!

Had nice Italian takeaway last night, lots of champagne with DH, mini-fireworks for DD before she went to bed at nine and then someone rang our door bell at 1:30 to tell us that a water-pipe has burst down the road and we won't have any water until this morning. Well we are still without water and have resorted to filling buckets with snow. DH and DD are busy watching the digger at work but I'm a little bit fed up with the New Year already Hmm.

everythingchanges Sending you all the energy and strength you need to cope with the changes this year. That must have been a difficult decision but you have tried everything you could. DS can be lucky to have such a wonderful and strong Mum! Not to forget stylish!

fleecy Was up with DH until late yesterday too. How come we so rarely talk anymore. I think he is really not very happy in his job and the pressure is starting to show. He hasn't had a proper break or holiday for almost two years. Was even on the phone with some people yesterday afternoon and this morning. Don't know what to do to help him except be there to listen and trying not to nag when it gets all too much for me too. Sorry long me, me, me post.

georgina I'm hoping to pick up something from P8 SS collection when I'll be in the UK in March. Not that long to go. Yippie!

I should really get some work done for my second job as I have to hand in a manuscript by 19th January but I feel too distracted so will follow bonsoir's and tracey's example and tidy/declutter/rearrange while DH and DD are out sledging.
