carciofi, how about this? Good price for cashmere.

Well done on your decision everything. I'm sending you all the positive vibes in the world that 2011 will be monumental. You deserve every happiness, and (if this is appropriate), that George Clooney comes a-knocking in the next few months!

Cardigan is worth a shot I'd say carciofi. And wise decisions on the sofas. The merrell Wakefield has long arms apparently. So should be good!

Where can I get a nice top from? A top version of the stripey janice? I want a smart top to wear with jeans and shoeboots to wear under zara blazer. For smart lunches out etc. Nothing black. That's my next challenge. Re budget, I get £50 a week from my teaching, so hopefully £200. I fancy the ruched grey boots from R&B, but they're £295. I need nothing else. I'm still waiting for the ruched jersey IO dress.
New computer is here. Links soon!

Lace top. Although I don't like the white undergarment in some of the pictures. Looks better on model.

Back from Pizza Express lunch wearing my new Topshop gilet, which is a great success, indigo straight-legs, Ash high tops, chartreuse LS tee, and vast beaded bib necklace from Zara. Sounds a bit dogs-dinner, but am very pleased with ensemble.

The Topshop sequin dress/tunic I am less sure about. It is very short-even with better legs, I'm too old-and not sure if I'd wear it with black skinnies. Will ponder some more...

My Monsoon/White Co stuff all going back, DD's all staying.

Hells, I wore red last night, but have just painted toes a fire-engine shade, just in case it's today.

Everything, does your new pad have room for Vin and mini-Vin?

oh Fritzi - no water is really hard luck. Hope it gets sorted very quickly.

Vino - very wise!

Plum - sounds like a great outfit!

blossoming · 01/01/2011 14:37

Thanks fritzi. Hate the sleeves! Hope your water's back soon!

Phew, water is finally back!

plum Your outfit sounds great!

Bonsoir · 01/01/2011 15:36

vin - try Hotel Thérèse, which often has good rates and is very close to the Jardins du Palais-Royal - so your DS can have a good run around in safety in a beautiful place!

notyummy · 01/01/2011 15:42

Fritzi - Glad your water is back.

Plum- Your outfit sounds lovely.

Everything- I hope 2011 is really your year. I am sure it will not be easy, but moving on sounds like the healthiest thing to do.

As you probably all guessed, it's hangovers all round in the NY house- apart from DD obviously. She came down at 815 (relatively civilised) this morning to join me on the sofa, and I did the bad/hungover parent thing and looked at what films I had recorded on the Sky Plus and we cuddled up together and watch ET. It was actually quite lovely, as I have always had a soft spot for the film and she LOVED it so it was great to share it. Did brunch for guests and packed them off before going for a long (ish) walk. Currently working up to having a session on the Wii with dd- but it seems a bit energetic Grin

Happy New Year everyone. Had a lovely evening - last guest left around 3.30am tho so feeling a bit ropey today. DH and I have been doing a tag team approach to supervising the kids - 2 hours on and then 2 hours back in bed which seems to have worked!

The fireworks in the street went on and on - DS1 woke up but was happy just watching from the window! One of the guests made an amazing feta cheese and spinach tart with filo pastry from the JO 20 min meals book - have ordered a copy as it was one of the nicest things I have tasted for a while.

Everything fingers crossed re your new home. You have tried so hard to make things work that I'm sure you are doing the right thing and you will be happier. Re your budget - you are always so savvy with your purchases es your fab ebay buys, I'm sure your budget will stretch a long way.
Bloss I've seen a janice like top somewhere - now just have to remember where. I will be back!

Bonsoir · 01/01/2011 16:10

vin - will you be up for a glass of champagne with me mini meetup when you come to Paris? Smile

traceybath · 01/01/2011 16:16

Oh my goodness - have literally only just now finished the playroom - took forever going through every draw etc and throwing away anything broken or with missing pieces. Even washed sofa covers but now the children seem to want to play in there and they may put things back in the wrong draws Shock Wink

DH is doing a race tomorrow and is muttering about health regime although to be fair I am actually pretty fed up of food and am just wanting very light things.

NY and OWW - wow to your late nights - I'm tired just thinking about it Smile

Right off to tackle kitchen and then may have a long bath and do nails etc whilst DH gives the children dinner.

this is surely the Janice top? Oh, that reminds me, I have another resolution: get a bra that fits! All my bras are too big, which is sort of okay under normal clothes, but under a nice top like that one, I would definitely need sorting out! I think I can wear a higher neckline these days, which is a bonus.
Love your hangover approach to childcare ollie. I think it's a good thing we don't have simultaneous hangovers in this house!
Hope you feel better soon notyummy. I hate New Years Day. Isn't it always quiet and dark. Miserable. Roll on Tuesday. I am like a child and need routine.
The new computer is lovely and red. The keyboard is nice, but I've a lot of things to install before I'll be happy!

MrsSeanBean · 01/01/2011 16:58

Evening all. Touching base with my new year purchases to date.

After 'hearing tell' of it on here, I bought www.phase-eight.co.uk/fcp/product/warehouse/All-Sale/Janice-Jersey-Dress/200994351this ( impressed with speed of Phase 8 delivery btw - will be back!) and also received this today from NAP - both keepers :)

PS Is this a good buy do you think..?

blossoming · 01/01/2011 18:06

I don't like that dress sorry mrssb. Looks like a man's vest that's been stretched out of shape to me.
I have stripey janice. Love her.

GeorginaWorsley · 01/01/2011 18:07

Mrs SB I wore my Janice last night and loved it!
Am considering the 'Janice' tops mentioned higher up thread.
Agree re Phase Eight delivery.
Have also bought the navy circle Phase Eight cardi from John Lewis in sale as i have the charcoal version and love it.

PlumSykes · 01/01/2011 18:10

Ugh, tracey, I hear yah! Have just whizzed to Ikea for more storage trunks for toys and really can't face ploughing thru the homeless bits of forgotten games, discarded doll shoes and rogue puzzle pieces. I'd like to take up a bit of the playroom floor, sweep EVERYTHING into the hole, and cover it over again. Trouble is, it would need doing every week. How do two small children amass so. much. stuff?!

OP posts:
OllieWollieWoo · 01/01/2011 18:43

Bloss - this isn't striped and may be the wrong colour but thought it was worth posting?
Jigsaw top
Still can't find the stripey cowl neck top I saw the other week.....
