So I boguht this dress in the summer, LOVE it, was recommended on MN, hunted one down and was planning to wear with black tights and black cardi for works Christmas do ...
until ...

I saw Jane Beale wearing it on Eastenders.

I can't wear it to work do now without someone saying "Oh, that's jane Beale's dress isn't it?"

Do you work with people who will know who or what Jane Beale is, and also remember what dress she once wore on telly?

My parents had some pink wallpaper that later appeared in Derek and Mavis' house in Corrie - didn't lasts long in Mum and Dad's house!

My advice is stop watching Eastenders. It is shit.

Feck it. If you like the dress, wear it. If anyone comments on the Jane Beale connection they are simply showing themselves up as a sad Eastenders fan that studies the characters' wardrobes. Prepare a zinger retort and wear it with pride.

I saw that alcoholic blonde ropey-looking woman who lives with Phil on Eastenders wearing MY dressing-gown (purple velour thingy my mum bought me).

I have never looked at it the same way since, although I have since given up watching Eastenders!

Ah I remember my sister saving for ages at about 16 to buy a lovely coat (purple wool with a black fur collar) then Dot Cotton wearing the same one....

I'd say buy it if you like it though, I didn;t notice it on her though if you accesorise it exactly the same way you'd be asking for a comment or two.

I had to forgo wearing a linen dress all last summer because Julie in Corrie was wearing it - and I bought it as a best dress and she was wearing it for work in the knicker factory!!!

Fay Ripley wore my Coast dress on 'Reggie Perrin' last week.

She look good in it, but now it just seems so middle aged to me.

I was heavily pregnant and bought a fabulous silk chiffon emipre-line top from Karen Millen to wear to a posh restaurant over white linen maternity trews. Until I saw Su Pollard in it on TV . And it did look better with a fulsome belly and an abundance of boobage. It went straight back to KM.

I wore it on a night out and friends liked it, it's not AS in your face when on, honest. But I don't know, will have to try it on again and see then bin it

You probably only noticed it as you have the same dress, I don't suppose other people will recognise it.

I say this as someone who doesn't watch any of the soaps so if you wear it near me I certainly wouldn't comment .
